She is the swimmer who has spoken out about Lia Thomas (both about him exposing himself in the changing room and being forced to compete against him). Now she's been attacked at San Francisco state university

The mob violence is escalating

Abused, then punished for speaking out. Curious to see how the university responds….
sending love and support to Riley Gaines

Whaeanui · 07/04/2023 07:43

I hope she’s ok. I guess after NZ this kind of thing is going to happen. Those people are deranged lunatics

Sittwritt · 07/04/2023 07:50

That’s a lotta angry men running after a woman and joyfully shouting obscenities with gusto at her. I love moments like these being captured on camera.

Its hugely sad but we’re not back to square one here even, the misogyny is way beyond anything, like before women had public toilets and had to pee before going out abx before the suffragettes. Nice one progressives.

JacquelinePot · 07/04/2023 07:50

How do we even begin to try deprogramming all these oung people who have been through a school and university system where they've been indoctrinated into believing lies, like TWAW...? This is getting really dangerous, now.

I hope Riley is OK. And I hope the zealots understand that they are proving Riley's point for her.

FOJN · 07/04/2023 07:52

I hope Riley is OK.

I watched that video and I wondered if transactivism has taken on a life of its own and that the violence won't stop even if governments around the world suddenly woke up and recognised women as human beings. They have been emboldened by getting away with the it for too long. They only seem to attack women.

I just read this earlier news.uoguelph.ca/2023/03/listen-to-women-femicide-rates-climbing-u-of-g-led-research-finds/

Soaring rates of femicide in Canada. The most 'progressive' nations are the ones where MVAW is now state sanctioned

They are like the Red Guard. Seems as if they are being enabled by governments and police forces. I can only imagine it is a matter of time before something really really tragic happens.

Guarentinaflo · 07/04/2023 08:00

This is getting so frightening. NZ, then the trans shooter last week, now this.

They are mistaken if they think they will stop us speaking. But some grown ups have to intervene and speak out against this.

JacquelinePot · 07/04/2023 08:00

Not to derail but Sitt, it's not just men, though. It looked and sounded to me like the loudest were women. I've stopped thinking of them as handmaidens, and started thinking of them as footsoldiers. The kind who enlist through patriotic zeal.

There are plenty of female Generals, too. Susie Green, Nancy Kelly, Ruth Hunt, Stephen Whittle, various MPs and HoL members, Chase Strangio and Jeanette Jennings in America, and all the youtubers who have cut their breasts off and make videos telling girls how cool it is, and on and on and on.

Men and women have different motivations for opposing women's rights, but we can't pretend that there's not an awful lot of women who are (a huge) part of the problem.

Datun · 07/04/2023 08:03

Jesus. The violence is out of control. I agree with a previous poster that these students need to be deprogrammed.

And the police need to do their bloody job. Every single one of those students should be arrested and charged.

Surely people can see that this is absolutely not normal. However upset you might be about someone else's opinion, even if it goes against everything you believe, this kind of frothing, homicidal rage is deeply concerning.

Rainbowshit · 07/04/2023 08:06

She's so brave. Those students need to be expelled.

A whole generation of men has been raised to believe that it’s ok (even admirable) to police women’s speech and punish them with violence if they disobey.

This won’t end well.

Iran and Afghanistan used to be lovely countries…

I thought it sounded as though most of that shouting was by women too. It is baffling. How could they possibly think this is right?

Florissant · 07/04/2023 08:16

Poor Riley. I hope she is ok.

NotBadConsidering · 07/04/2023 08:18

Absolutely awful. I hope she’s ok, she has been amazing at pointing out how abusive it was to be forced to change in front of Thomas.

JacquelinePot · 07/04/2023 08:19

At the risk of sounding like a sales rep because I'm always plugging it, I found Jonathan Haidts book, The Righteous Mind, really helpful.

I think a lot of the women have bought the lie #MostMarginalised and under the moral psychology framework explained in the book, are reacting per the carm/harm and sanctity/degradation foundations. The think that they are Doing The Right Thing.

What I still struggle to understand is how the hell they can possibly think that!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 07/04/2023 08:19

Agreed @Eann women in Afghanistan were able to vote in 1919. They could work, study, go out alone and wore everyday clothes - and now look at where they are :(

‘TWAW’ has shown how much women’s rights are still dependent on the whims of men - and how quickly those rights can be taken away

TrombonesAreNotBones · 07/04/2023 08:19

How awful.

Punishing thoughtcrime by beating, that's scary.

And yy, so many female voices screaming along.

FOJN · 07/04/2023 08:36

Clymene

You're right it's always the most progressive countries who seem to think extending women's rights and protections to men is a priority.

This paragraph in the article you linked stood out to me.

Canada remains one of three countries out of 35 which has not yet expressed its international commitment to the 1994 Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishment, and Eradication of Violence Against Women. “This is one example of how Canada lags behind other countries in its response to male violence against women and girls,” Dawson argued.

Unsure33 · 07/04/2023 08:43

Oh no.when I watched her video I thought how brave she was . Which is weird as she is only speaking the truth .

I wondered the same thing.

At this stage the trans issue seems like nothing more than a handy catchphrase to scream.

Flowerly · 07/04/2023 08:52

They are working their way up to murder. This may sound like hyperbole but I honestly believe that this is where they are going.

I hope that Riley has good protection and is safe.

Something tragic happened, 9 year old children became martyrs and Biden along with the rest of the consistent 15% polled believers who behave like clusters Bs who captured our institutions pulled DARVO.
