'Trans Day of Vengeance' protest continues as planned following Nashville shooting

Critics are questioning a transgender activist group's upcoming "Trans Day of Vengeance" protest, which is expected to go on as planned despite coming just days after a trans person walked into a Tennessee Christian school and killed six people, including three children.

Despite pushback, including Twitter removing social media posts promoting the event, it appears the "Trans Day of Vengeance" event is still slated for Saturday morning in front of the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

The event is being organized by the Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN), which informed The National Desk (TND) it would not comment beyond a press release shared by the organization on its website.

If I were a cynic, I'd be tempted to think whomever is organising this wants there to be trouble. Nothing like a martyr for furthering your cause.

I hope nobody is evil and stupid enough to rise to it.

Agreed absolutely!

We are planning a counter protest:

Terfs Day of Tea cakes.

It's not going to be as aggressive, unless someone accidentally brings rock cakes instead of tea cakes

BoiledBeetle I really enjoy reading your posts. Articulate and well considered. And in this case funny. Thanks

How about international day of ignoring the tantruming toddlers?

Ahhh but that's "denying their existence " or other such bollocks. Which would make the toddlers tantrum more

Does any normal person not groan and think, "oh please, no" when they see the words "Trans Visibility Week"?

I really do not think lack of visibility is a problem that they have.

It’s so depressing how people just accept claims that there is anything that can be termed a ‘trans genocide’. Why is it acceptable for TRAs to appropriate the term genocide?

It’s alarming. All the people throwing the term should probably be bloody grateful that they aren’t experiencing an actual genocide.

It is never ‘genocide’ if you are holding well publicised, state supported (through the provision of policing etc), large scale, flag waving protests. Even less so when politicians are promoting your cause.

Why do none of these people - so quick to jump on everyone else’s much more
innocuous language - stop and think about how offensive this is. There are real people who have survived genocide who’ve been through unimaginably terrible things.

I've seen KJK herself and several gender critical people describe what happened in NZ as "terrorism".

2,000+ people made a lot of noise and someone threw soup on KJK. I wouldn't describe this as "terrorism".

Exactly. To paraphrase Ross... Every day is Lesbian lover LGBTQIA+ day...

I see The Guardian are running a piece painting the trans mass murderer as the victim.

Then what would you describe an angry, (supposedly righteous, tolerant and inclusive) baying our of control mob who broke down barriers, who kettled women assaulted women with soup and other liquids, Beat a woman in her 70s fracturing her skull in the process, breaking the foot of another woman.

Because those women were terrorised terrified and traumatised.

I might not describe that as 'terrorism' either, but that's not all that happened.

Showing up with threatening placards, masks and weapons to physically intimidate and assault women who are speaking about women's rights, to achieve the political/ideological aim of silencing anyone who does not agree that trans women are women, would appear to fall squarely within this definition of terrorism.

It's not always stated as clearly as this, but this is obviously the goal of terrorising women when they try to speak. Why else would they do it?

Context: Reddit thread crowing over the violence and intimidation inflicted on KJK and the women who came to her event to speak or listen.

How's that working out for them?

Boiledbeetle · 30/03/2023 14:25

Do you think they have any bloody clue how many millions of people have seen the NZ footage? How many of them have peaked and finally get it? More than agreed with the violent thugs I'd bet.

I don't know if MN will delete this post because it has a link but here goes:

‘Desperate and bigoted’: the right uses latest shooting to malign trans people

From hateful rants on Fox news to falsehoods in Congress, the far right exploits the tragedy to demonize vulnerable people

Tomorrow signals the start of International Trans Visibility Week.

because they are so invisible the rest of the time. How many bloody flippin' weeks/months do they want? HOW MANY?

What is needed is one of those Westbro Baptist Church-style anti-TVW protests, where silent people just stand there, with hands linked, or something. Quietly dignified but making a point

12 months a year, for a start.

Trans-ideology is never satisfied - TRAs always demand more and more and more.

Brefugee · 30/03/2023 14:38

As an American, I know how enamored many far right Christian men are with "righteous" violence, and they are really upset with the recent attack on Christian children.

tbh, while i don't think violence is ever the answer except in self-defence, and then only as much as is needed, i do wonder if a load of far right Christian men jumped in and pounded a few sparkly-bedressed blue-haired beardy-types in lipstic - it might provoke some reaction that may drive things in a different direction? If it is men protesting these TRAs rather than a few grey-haired-lezzers or a small blonde woman getting tomato soup dumped on her for being a literal-nazi, it might make different headlines?

especially if aforementioned beardy-lipstick-bloke fought back?

I don't actually want that to happen.

What i want to scream and shout at the TRAs talking about deaths and genocide is "how the fuck do you know?" because if police etc are only recording gender, a trans woman being killed - for whatever reason - is recorded as a woman being dead, surely? if TWAW? But if dozens of trans women are being killed, then we need to know - by recording sex and then gender preference?

I don't want anyone being killed, and in the same way I'd want to know if a particular demographic was being murdered at, say, the rate of 2 a week, I'd want police resources targeted at stopping it.

I also want reporting to be more accurate. The lot in bloomsbury the other day were constantly described as a counter-protest. But they weren't. They WERE the protest. What they were protesting about was a load of older women having a meeting without men.

I'm constantly veering between rage and confusion.

KohlaParasaurus · 30/03/2023 14:41

Orwell missed a Newspeak trick there. "Vengeance" as a synonym for initiating conflict for your own amusement.

VitaminX · 30/03/2023 14:43

No, it would just provide grist to the mill. They say everyone's out to harm them and then a bunch of guys turn up to harm them? It would be horrible all round. They already say we're in league with Nazis and we want right-wing men to beat them up. It wouldn't change the narrative one bit and it would also be awful.

Brefugee · 30/03/2023 14:46

oh i completely agree, but when I am in fully exasperated-rage-mode i just want some big bloke with a bigger beard to smash one of those smug fuckers right in the face.

Which is pretty much considering my usual stance on violence!
