I don't really see why it's in the public interest to keep this manifesto a secret.

Especially if there is a "social justice" ideological element.

It's in the media's interest to not let the public know that this person was a typical hate-filled school shooter who didn't even like gay people, not an LBGT+ martyr.

This news article makes me feel genuinely sick. I don't care what sex this person is, they killed 6 people including 3 nine year olds. So, so sad. May she rot.

The public has the right to know the motives here. The fact the 'be kind' brigade don't like it should be irrelevant.

I see the double standards, I really do.

I see the concern over teaching kids something in school and then angry kids like this one being able to get hold of a gun easily (although the gun aspect is the most concerning).

But I'm never that comfortable with any murder motives being published too much. It seems to play into the murderer's hands too much, especially when incel or politically motivated. It's giving a platform for terrible behaviour. Maybe I've worked too long in schools but this doesn't make sense to me. It seems that it would only encourage other mixed up individuals to gain a platform in a similar way.

I'm not really that comfortable with calling murderers and mass murderers terrorists too much, for similar reasons. Terrorism might be useful to understand from a prevention point of view, but I'd like terrorists mostly described as murderers in the press. Otherwise it starts to feel as if terror is endorsed as a legitimate political strategy.

At the very least I think there should be considered guidelines, as with suicide reporting.

I'd agree this person was a murder/mass murderer. They had no coherent political strategy. She just seemed determined to commit suicide and take as many people (children, teachers 😔) with her as possible. But, at risk of a derail, other groups will fit the terrorist description because terror is their strategy and it's entirely pejorative.

I saw the film of her shooting the glass out of the doors, all togged up in her camo trousers, it was chilling. To read she'd budgeted time in her last few hours to cuddle her teddies is so sad and...stupid.
