Meet the new progressiveism. A muslim woman being hounded and bullied for criticising a white man.

This is disgusting. I hope she and her family are going to be ok.

What rumours?
What was debunked?
Who debunked them?
What was reactionary?
What was 'fake news'?

@Seasonofthewitch83 you seem to know an awful lot about this without knowing anything about it.

MrGHardy · 13/03/2023 11:39

"I have so much learning and unlearning that I have been doing".

Maybe she should spend her effort on valuable life skills instead.

MrGHardy · 13/03/2023 11:42

And then she doesn't even acknowledge whether Jeffrey is a predator or not. She tells her off and calls it "problematic" that she "infiltrated" the group. Surely it should make a huge difference to whether it is "problematic" depending on how true it is. She doesn't even try to defend Jeffrey. She jumps straight to "he shouldn't have been exposed". Chilling.

TheBiologyStupid · 13/03/2023 11:51

Yes, and even if Shumirun was wrong about Marsh (seems unlikely since she used his they's own words and videos) that wouldn't justify the hate, threats, and car damage.

MrGHardy · 13/03/2023 11:57

Let's be real, even if he isn't a groomer in the traditional sense of the word, he still is one. What possible reason could he have in influencing children and young adults? I'd call someone trying to do this for religious reason a groomer as well.

beastlyslumber · 13/03/2023 11:58

It's terrorism. How utterly awful that this woman is being left alone to deal with this.

I'm not sure what there is to be 'wrong' about.

Whether deliberate or not, suggesting
children should stop speaking to their parents and 'come over' to him is conditioning and desensitising them to similar persuasion.

That's the whole point. It's a safeguarding breach.

Marsh knew this and continued.

Over and over.

And other people want marsh to continue to such an extent that they will threaten women and children who blow the whistle.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/03/2023 12:07

All of this is just horrendous.

Poor Shumirun.

How has it got to the point that if a person exposes concerns about a trans person they receive death threats?

I think the point made about the reasons those women at the start of the video wouldn't define women is valid. We just can't talk about these things.

I really hope the police support Shumirun, how can we have women questioned for tweets but cars damaged and threats against children ignored because 'transphobia'?

HorribleNecktie · 13/03/2023 12:10

This is a man in his mid 40s on a very youth led platform who repeatedly addresses kids directly, encourages them repeatedly to go no contact with their parents, and insists that he loves and cares for them; and encourages them
to talk privately with him in on Patreon.

If Marsh looked like just some hairy arsed bloke down the pub, but said and acted in the same way, do you think people would defend him or rightly flag him as an utter creep? Because it seems a bit of lipstick and a floral shirt is all a man needs to have any legitimate criticism on the grounds of child protection dismissed as bigotry.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 13/03/2023 12:13

It is abhorrent that her children have become involved - perhaps this is a lesson for many on the power that social media can hold. She has an audience of 7M followers and she has managed to accidentally whip up a wave of hatred on both sides. If that was me, I would delete the app. Not worth it.

Helleofabore · 13/03/2023 12:18

Seasonofthewitch83 · 13/03/2023 11:04

I have, and everyone here is telling me its wrong without explaining why.

The information I have seen online is reactionary at best and homophobic at worst. Its not hard to spread misinformation via social media.

So, go and search some more. Or accept that we have seen the videos that have been removed from public viewing. I have watched them before.

Or, is there a reason you would choose to accept one group of people on social media who have a now proven record for not being able to recognise safeguarding issues, or even emotional coercion, over people who are calling it out, knowing that the person who people are saying have been doing things seems to have rapidly removed videos from public viewing and changed their Patreon settings since this video came out?

I suggest you consider this and if you cannot find the 'evidence' because it has been removed from public view, ask yourself why was it removed?

Plasmodesmata · 13/03/2023 11:26

Although this thread isn't really about they's videos, is it? It's about the threats to Shumirun and to her children.

yes. good point.

Victim blaming at its finest.

Aye, women should just shut up when they see a risk to children, lest they 'whip up a wave of hatred'. Best say nothing like a good girl, eh?

Seasonofthewitch83 · 13/03/2023 12:27

Not victim blaming at all - just pointing out how easy it is to build up a following on social media these days with absolutely no experience, no support from management or even a PR company, and accidentally stick your foot in it and bring shit to your doorstep.

Justsurfing · 13/03/2023 12:29

My god he makes my skin crawl ! I hope the police take this seriously

Fuck!

Did you think before you wrote this?

So, she should just ignore talking about something that is a major concern to her because some people have no impulse control AND have been led to believe that they are righteous in threatening people as we saw during Allison Bailey's court case and the testimony from people who believe it is 'understandable' that people resort to such tactics.

Let's see, do you also agree with women who wish to meet to discuss their issues being intimidated by extreme trans activists too?

What else do you dismiss as being women's faults for having opinions you disagree with?

And this is pretty clear victim blaming again.

YourLocalTERF · 13/03/2023 12:31

Have people tweeted Ricky Gervais, Andrew Doyle, Leo Kearse etc? They would probably support her?

No. The entire fault is people who choose to threaten and intimidate others for expressing views that the threatener finds they unable to cope with hearing.

Yea, I stand by it. She has 7M people following her. With that comes responsibility. There is a lot of transphobic hatred she has also managed to whip up - her comment section is horrific.

I dont know if she is transphobic- I think she has accidentally whipped up an absolute shitstorm of hate on a fucking video app.

Does she deserve the threats? Fuck no - hope she goes to the police. The threats are horrifying and she needs to be kept safe.

Does she have a right to raise concerns about safeguarding? Absolutely! Although scrolling Tik Tok now I can also see she herself asked children to send in selfies for her gaming website. So she's now getting shit for that too.

That's the thing about the internet - things cannot be controlled. You take a risk every time you post to an audience.
