Helloprint has suddenly refused to supply stickers to Kellie-Jay Keen

IwantToRetire · 04/02/2023 01:07

The main source to this story is the Daily Mail:

The firm also made a T-shirt designed by Ms Keen and worn by JK Rowling which described First Minister Nicola Sturgeon as a 'Destroyer of women's rights' over the controversial Gender Recognition Act.

But now the company - who has accepted £75,000 of orders from the cause - now says they are 'offensive material'.

I believe I remember Marg dismissing intimidation and abuse from a large mob yelling at a lone gay man. And that he was assaulted when someone stole his hat.

Actually, it seems Marg has a habit of dismissing violence when it suits Marg.

Are you referring to the man who somehow thought it would be a good idea to turn up to an LGBT pride event wearing attire of an anti-trans hate group? And he left as the crowd chanted "trans lives matter" at him?

picklemewalnuts · 04/02/2023 15:28

Anyway, is there anything else left to discuss about Helloprint refusing the business of KJK?

I mean, I think we've gently mocked the distress of the employees faced with the definition of woman, mentioned their overworked support animals, and agreed that private businesses are free to pick and choose customers, and quite right too.

I think all that's left to say is some Bunbury recipes, and maybe couple of bundle jokes.

Have I forgotten anything?

People call KJK a racist because she opposes children wearing nicabs. I agree with her, have you seen what is happening in Iran ect.? Its not racist to oppose that. The rest of what you said is just your political opinion.

I could say that JB hasn't covered her self in glory either about women who have children and gate keeping feminism.

But they both do fantastic work in their own way that reach different sets of women.

picklemewalnuts · 04/02/2023 15:28

Oh yes, we probably should eye roll at the daily fail. Tradition, after all.

Yes. You are wrong. It’s pretty simple? Honestly, her recent list of appearances include anti gay groups, anti abortion groups, and even a guy calling for a white ethnostate. Please do let me know how you intend to defend this?

She attends and organises events, where people can talk. They get equal microphone time, she doesn't control who attends. In a few of her early events, she spoke to people, not really knowing what they stood for and now is more savvy and cautious.

At one of her events, a transw had the microphone, spoke, then tried to run away with it, to stop other people from having their say.

What have you got to say about that?

Hello…. You can see your own victim shaming attempts here, can’t you?

You are absolutely proud of it aren’t you?

Own it. You dismiss violence and intimidation towards people you disagree with.

Allow me to translate that into the truth.

A gay man, a member of the LGB alliance, attended a hate fest, organised by virulently misogynistic bigots, who then turned on him, screaming abuse and manhandled him out of the way.

Dream on Helle, that would require self reflection.

Just watched one of her latest videos...

She could maybe get a new t-shirt printed.. 🤷‍♂️

And not forgetting that Fred Sargeant, one of the co-founders of Pride, was attacked, had coffee thrown at him and had his personal belongings stolen for holding a sign which said 'gay, not queer'.

At a Pride event.

SinnerBoy · 04/02/2023 16:07

Yes well, a scalding hot cup of coffee thrown onto someone worthless like that is sod all, is it? Not really, not when you compare it to a sign, a literally murderous sign, which was literally the same as murdering someone to death until they were dead, is it?

Interested in your opinion of this clip @SinnerBoy

Whyjustwhy123 · 04/02/2023 16:34

The level of violence in society against women really suggests that it’s not women who need to be nicer. Just saying….

There's a video online if you want to see for yourself.

I didn't see anyone "screaming abuse", but I did see a large crowd of young women and men chant "trans lives matter" at the hater until he left.

It's heartwarming to see hateful views appear to be in the minority of the younger generations. Attitudes are improving.

At one point blacks were the target of abuse, then it became homosexuals, now it's transpeople. Hopefully society will reach a point where no minority group becomes the main target to be abused.

Ah bollox. Sealioning squirrels and derailed carriages all over the track.

" offensive behaviour " @BleepBipBoop ???
Could you very kindly give us a few examples of offensive behaviour displayed on this forum, please.
Please do educate relative newcomers like myself, who have yet to see anything remotely resembling offensive behaviour here. It's only fair you should forewarn those of us with a nervous disposition, i'd have thought.
As for changing your name, bit of a waste of time tbh, imo, your attitude will give you away going forward, if it hasn't already to regular posters, who will know everyone's written language ' tells ' by now.

Why would you label a gay man at a Pride (!) event a "hater"?
What's the matter with you?

Fred Sargeant, a gay man, was assaulted and abused by people younger than himself. Looks like society is going backwards frankly.

Mallairígh · 04/02/2023 17:03

Well society has reached the point where women are the main target to be abused. Male aggression, opening up women's spaces to males in refuges, prisons, toilets, showers, sports, shortlists. Along with the day to day violence abuse and sometimes murder of women. But as they're not a minority group they don't count to you right?

Transpeople are the only 'minority' group who want more than the human rights afforded to everyone in the UK. Alongside that set of rights they also want the rights of women for themselves, and their safeguards from male violence, voyeurism and aggression removed.

No one is abusing transpeople. But transpeople and their allies are abusing women. This will not be a battle they will win.

Just because someone is gay doesn't mean they're automatically immune from holding any bigoted opinions, which you seem to be implying with this comment?
Not sure what person this is referring to but it's a bit of a strange stance to take "if they're gay they can't possibly be homophobic or transphobic towards others".... 😕

It doesn't come across as great, but what's the context? Was the campaign and slogan explained at all?
