Wtf is going on? Another violent man being moved to a women's prison in Scotland. A man so violent they can't even take him to court and NHS staff refuse to treat him.

Holy fuck. The only possible good thing ro say is at least the mainstream press are FINALLY paying attention to this.

mrshoho · 28/01/2023 15:52

Would nicola sturgeon be OK sitting in a room with him? Why the hell should any woman be expected to share any space with him. I wouldn't expect female staff to be anywhere near him either.

TheGreatATuin · 28/01/2023 15:52

I don't really understand this. We keep hearing that there are risk assessments. I'd like to know what on earth these assessments look like. They're clearly not worth anything

It was outlined on another thread.

They ask him where he wants to be, and how distressed he will be if they put him in with the other men. And they ask him whether he’s been a laydee for a while.

They might remember to look at his criminal record a bit, but it’s probably not that important, given there are so many essential reasons why he should be placed where he wants to be.

Babdoc · 28/01/2023 15:57

This is the man who slashed a fellow inmate’s face open with a razor, scarring him for life with a wound that needed 18 stitches. Then, when in hospital attacked nurses and was so violent it took ELEVEN security and prison staff to restrain him.
God help the women inmates and warders when this utter horror arrives in the female prison.
I never had any respect for Sturgeon’s intellect, but now it’s apparent she is stark raving mad.

Theunamedcat · 28/01/2023 16:00

Maybe they are hoping for a loud and public incident at the prison then they can reverse the policy 🤔 I really can see no other reason for it to be allowed to continue

I had always assumed they were assessing risk to the female inmates but in view of the terrible decisions they make it makes much more sense that they are not considering women at all, only the men with womanly feelings.

They only risk assess the effect of transfer on the prisoner not the effect on the prisoners at the prison they’re proposing to transfer them too

CaveMum · 28/01/2023 16:04

There are so many of them out there, but why are we having to leave breadcrumbs for the mainstream press to follow? Why weren't they out there digging this stuff up before??

Until this week, Mumsent and feminist accounts on Twitter were the only people talking about people like Andrew and Adam and (as I learned the other day) Daniel Eastwood.

KohlaParasaurus · 28/01/2023 16:14

It's scandalous that this is where thing are at but good that the lights are being switched on in more dark corners of the justice system.

TheClogLady · 28/01/2023 16:24

Grand.

At this rate there will be enough trans prisoners in Scotland to justify a special wing by the end of next week.

In the male estate, naturally, where appropriate security levels/staffing can be properly managed, snd the inmates can access the male sex offender program.

ChristinaXYZ · 28/01/2023 16:36

Every article on this gives more information about the violent behaviour

Housing this person in the female estate is despicable.

Nothing a good pair of tweezers and a mirror couldn't sort!😁

ArabellaScott · 28/01/2023 17:17

'Scottish Conservative equalities spokeswoman, Rachael Hamilton, said Scott has also attacked female staff while in a men's prison.

She said: "The fact that such a violent and dangerous criminal is set to be transferred to a women's prison is absolutely appalling.

"It is clear that Tiffany Scott continues to present a grave risk to the safety of any women that come in contact with them - even trained prison staff."

She continued: "Nicola Sturgeon has repeatedly tried to reassure the Scottish public that the Scottish Prison Service's risk assessment would protect women from predatory men, yet the process is clearly not fit for purpose if this dangerous offender has been approved for transfer to a women's jail.

"Women's safety must not take a backseat to the wishes of violent criminals.

"Nicola Sturgeon has already U-turned under public pressure to belatedly remove double rapist Isla Bryson from a women's jail, she must now intervene to block the transfer of this violent individual before it takes place, or knowingly risk the safety of some of Scotland's most vulnerable women."'

From the Record article linked above.

SinnerBoy · 28/01/2023 17:17

I just despair at the idea of these extremely violent men being place with women. If they're too dangerous for men's prisons, why on Earth would anybody even reasonably sensible think that it was a good idea to put them with women, who are much less able to defend themselves?

Really, a whole lot of heads need banging together, followed by dismissal from their jobs. If "Isla" is now considered unsuitable, why men who are far worse, in terms of violence?

It's collective madness in government and the civil service.

We have waited far to long for that photo.

To the two incredibly brave women who got this Bastard sent down, you have the respect, admiration and gratitude of 1000s of women.

I remembered this thread from September 2018

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/3373901-Gender-folly-in-womens-jails-Sunday-Times-Jeremy-Coid-Emeritus-professor-of-forensic-psychiatry-Queen-Mary-University-of-London

talking about the known dangers of putting males in the female estate and of the interaction of identity issues with violence and mental illness.

So long ago now and so many women put under intolerable pressure in fighting this, not to mention the abuses the women in prison with these men have suffered.

ditalini · 28/01/2023 17:28

If they can be segregated in a women's prison for the population's safety then they can be segregated in a men's prison for their own safety. It really is as simple as this.

The whole thing (and a lot of pro-integration comments that Ive seen) seems to be based on an extremely erroneous understanding of the physical appearance and likely body modifications that your average trans prisoner is likely to have.

I read a fantastical post that assumed a transwomen would be attacked in the male estate because the sexually deprived inmates would be in a constant state of arousal due to her "female body".

Pictures help with this I think.

It's even worse in the UK. The MoJ invite very "special" groups / individuals to weigh in on where these men should be placed. All very shadowy - just like the secret groups that train the judges & write the bench book about how to favour trans people in court and when sentencing them.
I believe Maya Forstater was unable to prise out the details of the secret training - presumably because the public would be horrified at the bias / anti women content? No reason to keep it secret if it's in line with British values surely?
