'Breaking' - Transgender rapist won’t be imprisoned in Scotland’s all-women jail, Nicola Sturgeon tells MSPs

zaramysaviour · 26/01/2023 12:53

Excellent news.

And Sturgeon has really shot herself in the foot here (again). Because if she really thinks 'trans women are women', why is she not allowing this 'woman' to go to a female prison?

So therefore she knows this person is not a woman.

So therefore she is being transphobic...

GB News is covering this now or after the break anyway. With Sarah Phillimore I expect, as she said yesterday she'd be on.

The other reason that Scott isn't in Broadmoor is that these are English facilities.

Scottish courts cannot make orders for them. In many cases, the crimes in England vs Scotland are different. So you cannot assume the same standards, same policy. They can be very different: what does Scotland do with those sorts of offenders who are permanently disordered?

Carstairs I think - State Hospital?

Any chance Happy Valley will end with Tommy Lee Royce being recaptured, self IDing as a woman, changing his name to Tammy Lee and being transferred to a women's prison?

That was the lunatic asylum. God are they still using that place? Goes off to Google

Boiledbeetle · 28/01/2023 18:35

So, Carstairs.

The State Hospital is one of four high secure hospitals in the UK. Located in South Lanarkshire in central Scotland, it is a national service for Scotland and Northern Ireland and one part of the pathway of care that should be available for those with secure care needs. The principal aim is to rehabilitate patients, ensuring safe transfer to appropriate lower levels of security.

There are 140 high-secure beds (plus four beds for emergency use) for male patients requiring maximum secure care: 12 beds specifically for patients with an intellectual disability. A range of therapeutic, educational, diversional and recreational services including a Health Centre is provided.

Partnership working with South Lanarkshire Council is well established and provides social work services for patients and their families in addition to liaising with patients’ designated Mental Health Officers (MHOs) across the country.

The Forensic Mental Health Services Managed Care Network (Forensic Network) is hosted by The State Hospital.

Well developed relationships exist with the Mental Health Tribunal Service for Scotland and the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland, and good partnership working is in place across the Forensic Network to ensure these patients are transferred as required.

I think it was rebuilt, and is now pretty highly regarded - but still very much in use.

Men only too...

'Sophie Eastwood', dubbed Hannibal Lector Jnr by prison staff.

List of the known individuals can be found in this thread -

"It’s difficult to know if she really does feel a natural inclination to be treated like a baby or if it’s just some kind of attention seeking”.

Yeah, that’s a really hard one to figure out.

Yeah, that’s a really hard one to figure out.

Looks totally genuine to me! I mean who hasn't had a time in their life when they said "LET ME OUT OF PRISON OR I'LL SHIT MY NAPPY"

Must be dreadful to go from having the capacity to be so eloquent in a newspaper interview to needing a dummy and hand holding in order to leave your cell.

In an interview last year Eastwood said: “In January 2020, I met all the standard criteria to pass to less secure conditions, except being biologically female.

“The prison service wanted me to have a psychological assessment as I hadn’t had one since starting to live as female.

“After that, I was told by a manager that I would have passed the assessment had I still been living as a man.

“I felt this was sexist and transphobic. The SPS was implying that as a man I didn’t represent a risk to the public but as a woman I did. I don’t think there’s any evidence to support that.”

LexMitior · 29/01/2023 07:47

The key thing there is the "all criteria to less secure".

Prisons are supposed to rehabilitate. So offenders are incentivised to look at the criteria and game it in this way. The SPS and it's officers will be meeting their job criteria if they too, consider and apply these standards, which are policy and not law.

The Scottish criminal justice system has been captured by extreme people. It's being written and administered by people who are either very naive or seriously malign.

That is being supported by top level politicians. All of these matters are devolved. Criminal justice and health both are. So too is the judiciary and laws of review.

Even with a section 35 order, the rest is on Scotland to fix. Given that the SNP and the Greens are in charge, unless people decide not to vote for them, Scotland is stuck with this. Nothing will change unless the political culture in Scotland does.

Callum Steele isn't mincing his words is he? I'm glad he's highlighted how ridiculous the pretend safeguard of penalties for a false declaration is. How can anyone be investigated for making a false declaration when there is no definition of what it means to live as a woman and the only evidence asked for is a man's say so.

And a highly improbable risk of a fraud investigation if a man gains a gender recognition certificate (GRC) by deception under the proposed Gender Recognition Reform legislation is not the safeguard weak politicians suggest it is.

WarriorN · 29/01/2023 08:42

We are to believe that a 16-year-old is mature enough to make life-changing decisions, while simultaneously accepting that the brain does not fully mature until the age of 25 if you are in the criminal justice system. We are to believe we have a victim-centred criminal justice system while ignoring the trauma inflicted on victims of sex crimes having to refer to their “penis owning” attackers as “she” or “her”. We are to believe that the Scottish Prison Service can keep women prisoners safe when housed with trans women (with penises), yet can’t do the same for penis-owning trans women in the male estate.

He's having none of the hypocrisy

Shelefttheweb · 29/01/2023 08:45

But he is wrong about the last couple of sentences:

It potentially sows the seeds of the impossibility of gathering data on crimes committed by predatory men exploiting law, as the legality of doing so could itself be subject to challenge. Even the most ideological supporters of the bill can’t want that.

That is exactly what the ideological supporters of the bill want.

nilsmousehammer · 29/01/2023 08:52

Yes.

It's odd isn't it; watching someone getting it in real time. And still not quite having got the next bit of evidence and experience that no, this isn't an innocent accident that happened through a bit too much good faith. This is rooted in absolute, carefully crafted intent, hatred of women and seeing them as subhuman, and a bit of the whole 'queering things' agenda which is basically mindless, conscienceless, narcissistic wrecking without purpose.

nilsmousehammer · 29/01/2023 08:52

Oh and the sexual agendas of course.

They're no accidental bug either.

Really? When the trans ideologues encouraged trans identifying people to lie about their sex in the census? What was the objective there? Certainly not too ensure that accurate numbers of trans people were recorded, in order to ensure proper representation and services for them.

Shelefttheweb · 29/01/2023 09:53

The Committee even invited a film studies post-grad they knew from their trans-lobby group to tell them how it was all fine to corrupt data because they had never met a social scientist....

It's not even that!!! It would be a penalty for making a false false declaration - as opposed to a true false declaration.

BUT THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A TRUE FALSE DECLARATION!!!!
