'Breaking' - Transgender rapist won’t be imprisoned in Scotland’s all-women jail, Nicola Sturgeon tells MSPs

Excellent news.

And Sturgeon has really shot herself in the foot here (again). Because if she really thinks 'trans women are women', why is she not allowing this 'woman' to go to a female prison?

So therefore she knows this person is not a woman.

So therefore she is being transphobic...

I thought transwomen were women - acceptance with no exceptions according to Stonewall?
So if some transwomen are not women, maybe we could have a definition ?

She's a hypocrite! The combined effect of her Bill (if it had passed) and the Haldane ruling would have been to make it impossible to treat this person as male if they had obtained a GRC.

Thank god for that. Now, how about all the other men housed with women in Scottish prisons? And are we going to have to kick up a massive fuss everytime this happens???

There is only one all- female prison in Scotland but at least 3 that take females and males. So, saying someone won't be housed in the all-female prison does not mean that person will not be housed with female prisoners.

How about English prisons?

If so, then the risk assessment is failing, and needs to be changed. Good time to raise it, given that the MPs are now all on board that this is problem!

Of course they can. In fact it's almost a defining characteristic that separates them from real people*.

Look at the current NZ farce for example. He gets to call it "careless" you get to go to jail.

*Of course real people do it to. Just look at religion ....

This is genuinely one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while.

It's like saying "the government tightened laws around food safety so they admit all food is actually unsafe". Facepalm.

What I think she meant to say is that men shouldn't be held in a women's prison.

Only men can rape, they are the one's who have a penis. No woman has a penis.

On r/Scotland the usually rabid TRA posters are saying of course "this one" is faking being trans.

Wtf, how do you tell which TW are faking it? 99.9999% of them are obvious men.

If you look at the trans passing subs they're all telling each other they pass, when they absolutely do not, and anyone can see it's a man in a dress.
