Continuation of Thread 2.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

I had a lovely discussion with another 80s actor last year who based all his assumptions of transwomen on 1 transwomen he knew that was obviously an Autogynephilia type transwoman. I wanted to shake the man.

They are at an age where they just don't get the modern world.

@Boiledbeetle I hear you. My best friend, while dubious about men in women's sports, sees no problem otherwise with trans women in women's spaces, basing her reaction on two older trans women she happens to know and like. We don't discuss the issue.

@Britinme It boggles my brain. I don't know about everything that's going on in the world, but I try to flit around the news enough to have a rough idea. And if a topic gets mentioned to me, or starts starts to dominate I look into from all sides and make a rational decision of my stance, even if I thought I already knew where I stood.

I just hate "Oh well my mate Dave from the Legion he's now Cathy, got a cracking pair of tits mind". And that's as far as they have delved into the situation!

@Boiledbeetle yes it's the reluctance to delve into the issue and think it through in case it makes you start questioning other issues that's mind boggling. Like me, she is politically on the left and I think she thinks if she has an opinion on this issue that left wing politicians don't like, it's some kind of betrayal.

Even in my young idealist days when the conservatives to me were the antichrist, having grown up under Maggie. I could not have blindly stood by Labour if they were doing what they want to do now. I'm furious at some of the stuff they did pass into legislation by deceiving women.

That so many left wing women are going along with this...my head is ready to explode!

Indeed. As so often the case these days, I find myself grateful for these partial grudging acknowledgments of material reality and that women are human too. When what I really want to do is shout "Why the fuck was this ever even slightly in question???"

I find it sad reading that one. I commented once but this is the only forum i do or have ever done. So i can't relate but some of the stories are such ridiculous reasons and then the heartbreaking one in amongst them. Some People are shits.
