Continuation of Thread 2.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

So many tiny little straws landing on the poor camel's back in the last week.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 26/01/2023 08:46

That MP interview is bizarre.

I understand she's been given the line 'transition safely' to repeat (without engaging with any of theba tual questions). Thats standard enough. But why does she leap to the suggestion of killing him?

And I noticed she called him 'he' throughout. That will lose her Brownie points in certain quarters.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/01/2023 10:10

Actually, I found the whole 'transition safely' line bizarre. I know the NHS is struggling at the moment but it's not like he'll be left with a knife, a corkscrew and a "go get 'em" attitude! It was like she wasn't expecting the questions at all, she sounded really unprepared. Unless, and I don't want to believe this, she's an idiot.

Ho over and look at this thread to see what the OP was told by the deputy head and No Outsiders regarding a No Outsiders poster in her dd’s primary school.

I am c&p this post from Cattenburg from page 40 of an Update the EA.. thread:

Cattenberg · Today 00:41
The government have responded to a rival petition, “Commit to not amending the Equality Act's definition of sex”:

“This Government believes in individual liberty. There are processes with appropriate checks to allow for those who wish to legally change their gender. Changes to the Equality Act are not necessary.

The Equality Act 2010 provides protection against discrimination, harassment and victimisation across a number of grounds, including sex. We are committed to upholding Britain’s long-standing record of protecting the rights of individuals against unlawful discrimination.

The Government is also committed to maintaining the safeguards that allow organisations to provide single-sex services. It is important that the principle of being able to operate spaces reserved for women and girls is maintained, in line with the Equality Act. Government is committed to tackling harassment and abusive behaviours by all individuals, and ensuring single-sex spaces are safe for those using them.

The Act makes it clear that providers have the right to restrict use of spaces on the basis of sex and gender reassignment where this is justified.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) have published guidance on the existing legislation which provides much needed clarity to those offering single-sex spaces.

Finally, this Government believes in the principle of individual liberty and in the humanity and dignity of every person. There are processes in place, with the right checks and balances, to allow for those who wish to legally change their gender to do so. We have listened to the responses in the Gender Recognition Act consultation and have taken steps to modernise the way that individuals can apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate as a result, reducing the cost and moving the process online. Everyone that decides to transition, deserves our respect, support and compassion.”

Cabinet Office

They seem to be saying the Equality Act is fine as it is.

That counter petition is proof that the EA needs to make clear that the protected characteristic “sex” is biological sex - or that counter petition would never have been launched to try to stop us from getting the clarification! It must suit them to keep people confused.

To sign the petition to update the Equality Act to make clear that the characteristic
“sex” is biological sex,

It gave away the reality that no matter what women are told to think, or persuaded that up is down. When it truly comes down to it we cannot deny the reality of a situation.

I just hope and trust that doing this to cut off the oxygen of the flack they're getting doesn't work. I hope people aren't reassured that the system works and just switch off from the issue because they've done a reverse ferret this time.

Just opened up YouTube, ironically to search for a Rhona Hotchkiss video, and this popped up https://youtube.com/shorts/_f67jAEmRGk?feature=share

My friend has sent me one of these before. I assume he’s trolling, deeply fucked up.

Jesus Christ, just ventured onto r/Scotland. Some people are complaining that no one is talking about ‘cis women committing rape’ and how cis women always use the ‘get out clause’ that ‘rape can only be done by someone with a penis’. What the actual fuck have I just read. Time for bed I think.

I'd like to know what the TRAs think about Adam Graham. Surely this is a step too far even for them. I bloody hope it is.

I'm really glad that he is going to a male prison but am sure that if a real fuss hadn't been made about it he'd be staying in a female prison. It's great news but not the end of the struggle. It's the beginning of actually being heard and we have to continue being heard if we are to get anywhere with this fucked up ideology.

They don't think about any of this, because they've got their heads up their rectums in the sand and are singing "LalalalaThisIsn'tHappeningINeverFollowAnythingThatHappensInTheNews" and yet are also poised to strike like a cobra at any thread/post/comment that they can shout "Squirrel!" "BadMediaBadPersonEvilWords!"

Just putting it here to read tomorrow. How Scottish Police are recording crime, it batshit and lobbying, well hidden, by the usual suspects who seem to be totally funded by the SNP/Scottish Government.

Right, I am going to bed now.

I can't stay angry with you Beetle. Thanks for the cake.

WTAF indeed. But sadly, it doesn't seem a joke, if Police Scotland have their way.

I don't think we had this, but as always, Glosswitch is a treat. Even though it's very serious, it made me laugh several times:

duc748 · 27/01/2023 12:23

@IcakethereforeIam

From the (literally!) small print in your link, I noticed

Note: although the Chief Statistician’s guidance advocates the cessation of collecting data on sex in most circumstances, the guidance singles out the ‘investigation of serious sexual offences’ as an example where data on biological sex is required.

So collecting data on sex, in general, is non-preferred and transphobic, is it? WTAF? Well, there's medical records and the criminal justice up the Swanee for a start!

It's one massive great plan (and it is very much a plan, I think) to down-grade 'sex', and replace it with gender. Left, right, and centre.

Right now, as women and girls in Afghanistan are losing access to education, healthcare and basic safety, as an estimated 142.6 million female people are missing from the world due to sex selection, femicide and neglect, I wonder at the misrepresentation of sex denialism as “progress”. Whose interests does it serve? If you decide that the most oppressed women are those with penises, it becomes easier to claim we’re seeing the end of gender-based oppression, despite everything that’s happening to the world’s uterus owners. It is possible to “win” by shifting the goalposts. I’d rather be an honest loser, though.

Well said that woman.

Kucinghitam · 27/01/2023 14:11

General reflection on the TRSOH politicians, cheerleaders and handmaidens desperately reverse-ferreting all over the place. They're liars and cowards and weasels. Utterly pathetic.

I almost have more respect for (1) the head up arse in sand ostriches still singing LalalaNothingToSeeHereNoDebate; (2) the steadfast "she's still a laydee no matter what she did with her penis, and if you mispronoun her you're evil, BeeeeeKind" nut jobs.

At least those two groups know how to properly ringfence their quasi-religion.
