Continuation of Thread 2.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

Fruit and Nut all gone. Was delicious!

Those muffins are nothing now but a pleasant memory and another reason to not look in the mirror.

Sweet please. Although I much prefer scones. Also sweet.

Muffins! I have a massive enamelled cast-iron lidded pan (Lidi Le Creuset rip-off), which weighs a ton, and I literally only ever get out to make Muffins. Maybe at the weekend... 😀

I'm rubbish at making scones. Peanut butter and raspberry jam muffins? Or bog standard choc chip?

Well of course when I make scones I make my own butter and buttermilk first.

That may be why I haven't made scones since 2007.

I'm down to the absolute dregs of Christmas sweet things

Muffins should be sweet, their texture isn't really right for savory. But I'd usually prefer a cheese scone.

I made cheese and apple muffins which were lovely and garlic muffins, because quick. But they're not as good as garlic bread.

I'm eating a tiny Picnic bar. All this muffin talk is doing nothing for my diet. Ahem.

When did Picnic bars become so small? Its definitely not far away (from my mouth)

Sweet scones are undoubtedly good, but so are cheese scones. Warm, with butter.

Some of this cake had better be dairy free. I need to celebrate the conversation I had with my manager today in which we carefully established we are both GC.

Of course, the real answer is that she's telling the little girl that she can be anything - even a man!

My guess would be

" a girl? Are you sure? You are after all wearing trousers and a 🌈 top"

Nice one! I did the same with my main client last year. Saw a copy of Kathleen Stock's 'Material Girls' on his kitchen table and said 'Ooh, Doc Stock, I like her' and he very enthusiastically said he did too.

I've never tried baking with nut milk. Vegan or a lactose bigot intolerant?

Technologically challenged!

Bit of a non sequitur but... a while back I was stunned by article by male Times journalist- maybe Sunday times - exclaiming at silly women unhappy at sharing shop changing rooms with men ... after all, everyone is just there to try on clothes. I waited to see his next post explaining to black men why they are wrong to worry or complain about racism, but strangely enough, it never appeared

I honed my skills on the map of Anger thread when I was operating with two identical tablets and screenshots that needed taking very frequently at some points.

Vegan or a lactose bigot intolerant?

Just to be difficult - neither. Milk protein allergy. Always had a bit of one, but it was manageable as long as I avoided it when uncooked and unfermented. Then in lockdown I got into making my own yoghurt and kefir (milk very well boiled to denature the proteins as well as being fermented) and I think the quantity tripped a switch, so now I can't have it in any form.

Which means No Cheese.
