Okay, so I'd like some good old reasoning on this as I appreciate a lot of you are more insightful than me!

I believe men have 0 place in women's toilets, changing families or women only spaces.

But this tripped me up... what do I say to this? It popped up on twitter and I don't know what to argument would be

This woman was questioned because she looks too masculine. But she is indeed a biological woman through and through

www.itv.com/news/central/2022-12-26/cancer-survivor-challenged-at-public-toilets-after-being-mistaken-for-a-man

What is the answer? I just don't know

Any "doctoring" is a figment of your imagination.

No, it’s really not. Others have picked up on it too.

Well why is your image not on Leicester Mercury’s article but on Twitter then?
www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/cancer-survivor-who-double-mastectomy-7879053?int_source=nba

I can pull up what you screen shotted, but when I zoom in, it is blurred out like all the other photos on Leicester mercury..,

Because, like I've said over and over, they have blurred it out on the article but not on the thumbnail image for the article.
If you click on the images, like I showed you, the photo is there.

SarahAndQuack · 30/12/2022 01:21

I've not read all of this thread yet, but I've got far enough to see people saying they think it's very rare for anyone to mistake gender.

It really isn't.

My DP is female, identifies as female, and has no interest in appearing male. She gave birth to our DD. She is constantly misgendered. So are lots of women. Mostly, they don't talk much about it - because when you do, you're met with small-minded people who insist 'oh, no one is ever confused! You must have been trying to look like a man! It's all your fault really!'

It ought to be obvious that, unless people correct you, you will have no idea how often you mistake a woman for a man or a man for a woman.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times someone has acknowledged their mistake with DP, let alone apologised. It's really hurtful.

ofwarren · 30/12/2022 01:13

🙄
You just don't want to admit it.
It is a photo from the LEICESTER MERCURY. It clearly says it is.
It doesn't say fucking twitter

If it’s clear, why can’t you zoom and then screen shot? Is it because just like for me, it’s still blurred when you zoom in? As I said, Twitter lifted the photo from the news and then added text & images to the blurred badge.

It doesn’t even make sense what they added. Her name is Tiffany. She uses she/her per all the articles and Facebook. There’s no way if she were Taylor and had changed her pronouns to they/them that every news outlet would have called her by a dead name and misgendered her.

No it’s not clear. Really, I’ve tried.

ofwarren · 30/12/2022 01:22

I don't know how many more ways I can explain it or show you the screen shots.
The image is there, clear as day as the thumbnail for the Leicester Mercury.
Go on Google, click on images at the top. Type in her name. Click on the photo on the Leicester Mercury.

The thread in question is about one.
Somebody else on here said they are repeatedly misgendered and laughingly called Sir and it would bother them being challenged.
So not really rare as you make out (how many instances of it happening is ok in your eyes?)

So that makes two people.

Meanwhile 194,683 sex offences were reported to the police in just one year (and we all know just how much goes unreported).

Which should I be more concerned about? The risk that someone mistakenly questions an actual woman, resulting in a few hurt feelings; or the risk that no one dares challenge a Katie Dolatowski and someone gets raped?

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 30/12/2022 01:25

Exactly!

@Onnabugeisha Asking someone if they are in the right toilet is not harassment. According to a dictionary, harassment is an aggressive pressure or intimidation - this one has not yet been rewritten by TRAs.

She was signposted to a way to get a Radar key to use the disabled loos to ease her anxiety, but chose to make a big deal out of a fact she gets mistaken for a man to get in the papers, I question her motives.

Here's a direct link to the Leicester Mercury image, for the benefit of the technologically illiterate (or just plain obtuse):

Hold on, trying to post what Google images is showing me, but every screen shot exceeds 6MBs. Not sure how to reduce size. Give me a sec.

Thank you!
I didn't know how to get a link to the image.
I'm interested in why the newspaper decided to blur the badge in the actual article. They obviously forgot to do the thumbnail.

Just wait, we'll be hearing about how it's "literal violence" any minute...

Onnabugeisha · 30/12/2022 01:35

Had to crop off bottom half…but I don’t get what you get.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 29/12/2022 22:05

Don't be silly.

We just want the social contract that already existed, where male people stayed out of private female spaces. We didn't "police" it then and we should not have to now.

It is the genderist males, with their entitled expectation that female spaces should be open to them because they really, really want them and it's just not fair to have people say no when you really want something, who are insisting that they will ignore what women (original female meaning) might actually want, and that it's fine that male people will take what they want unless they are physically prevented.

I'm not being silly - please see attached where Stock said what she did and 'male people' i.e. what normal people call transsexual women, have used women's facilities for a long time. Do you think that Caroline Cossey was using the men's loos in the 70's and 80's?

Don't worry, some lovely person has shared the direct link to the image which I didn't know how to do.

But only 125 trans inmates (TW & TM & NB).

Yet millions of GNC women and girls….

The threat requiring such actions seems grossly overestimated.

No, because the limit is 6MBs and for some reason these screenshots are 8.8MBs. Here’s the bottom half of the original screen shot.
