No, not sure.

Willoughby seems to be suggesting they buy tampons to put in their ears so they can't hear women wondering why the male sex need menstruation products. Given this is on twitter maybe Willoughby would be better off using a pad to cover their eyes

Oh, and suggesting black women are talentless and only successful because of woke politics, which is ironic as someone who's claim to fame is transitioning. Someone who appears to have no discernable talent what so ever.

Think this is all jealously, bubbled though with racism and misogyny.

Somanysocks · 29/11/2022 12:58

IW has always talked a load of old rot.

CrossStichQueen · 29/11/2022 12:58

The use of the word blackwoman is not the only racisim in IWs tweet.
It comes as no surprise that they are showing their racist colours.

AutisticLegoLover · 29/11/2022 13:00

IW is a prize cactus. Nothing surprises me. IW blocked me on Twitter. I felt quite proud.

Yet IW has never said the same to a white women.

BatCheeseIsFine · 29/11/2022 13:05

The use of "blackwoman" is about genderists' objection to the word "transwoman". They prefer "trans woman" as according to them that's more descriptive of a type of woman, like for example "black woman" or "working-class woman" whereas "transwoman" sounds more like a different thing. (Like, I don't know, "tomboy" or something - though this is all built on very shaky ground linguistically anyway.)

Previously, transactivists have made the racist claim that trans woman are just a sub-group of women exactly like "black women" are (interesting they seem to see non-black as the default). In other words, black women are just like trans women - which is massively offensive as trans women are male, and all women are women and not the same thing as TW.

So IW is now using "blackwoman" in retaliation at being called a "transwoman".

RoyalCorgi · 29/11/2022 13:05

Awful. India is a nasty piece of work. It's amazing that India is willing to display such racism publicly. Why would anyone want to have this person on their television programme?

AutumnCrow · 29/11/2022 13:05

The 'all one word' argument in general, as far as I am aware, something that TRAs get a kick out of. They want there to be subsets of women, so that TWAW are a subset of women ('trans women') just like - so the racist argument goes - 'black women are women'.

Many GC feminists use the term 'transwomen' to describe men who say they are transgender. They deny that transwomen are a subset of women. TWAM.

IW was probably riffing on that in a particularly offensive, stupid way. Is the tweet still up? It's quite spectacularly awful.

I may be wrong re ^^ btw.

BatCheeseIsFine · 29/11/2022 13:06

Oh sorry for X-post.

At this point I think IW has to be GC and on a peaking mission.

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/11/2022 13:07

I'm not sure you can be a transwoman without being racist tbh. How else do you explain all the talk of " re education " of women with religious beliefs that do not allow usage of mixed sex facilities. And the constant implications that butch lesbians and black women cloud the definition of woman so much that the next logical step is that men/males can have it too.

This should not surprise anyone

ZeldaFighter · 29/11/2022 13:14

Who would say, in the year 2022, that black women are a sub-set of women???? They ARE women, just like every other person born a woman, and unlike every person born a man!!! FFS, how unbelievably racist! If someone said something like this to my (white) face, I would have a hard time not bopping them one!)

ArabellaScott · 29/11/2022 13:16

Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/11/2022 13:18

Dear me. I don't like cancel culture, but that tweet would probably get anyone else cancelled.

There's no 'equivalence'. Black women are women - more than likely our common ancestral 'mitochondrial Eve' would have been black. White women are a relatively small subsection of women. Otoh, males aren't, and can't ever be, any sort of women. Calling IW a 'transwoman' is a massive compromise and concession, a polite fiction.

I said this on another thread but I'll put it here too as this is specifically about racism

This is from an article just two years ago:

India Willoughby left This Morning viewers in shock when she appeared on the chat show to discuss the topic of migrants crossing the English Channel today.

When asked her opinion on the situation, India exclaimed, "Thank God for Nigel Farage! I’ll say it. The fact the French are escorting them over is awful. We’ve got Brexit and we’re leaving the EU."

Sharing her thoughts on what should be done in light of the growing numbers, "We should take control. I think it’s £100million we’ve spent on this problem. I’d go down the Trump route.

"Why not have a nice spikey barbed wire fence somewhere on the channel? Instead of using the English channel, they should use the legal channel.

Looking for new bedding in Dunelm. Browsing as you do. And I honestly thought this range was by India Willoughby, had to look again. 😳

Abccde · 29/11/2022 13:44

I think this person is so racist that they don't even realise just how racist they are and how their behaviour is abhorrent. It's ingrained in every part of their body. They are a lost cause.

What I find more disturbing- only a very small handful of TRAs / trans people are calling IW out on it.

Why is that? I have seen a lot of comments from Trans people / allies that I consider racist. But this is taking it to a whole new level. I can only assume that they have similar views to IW.

zen1 · 29/11/2022 13:49

That is a nasty, racist misogynistic comment. The mocking implication in that tweet is vile.

SnapeAlways · 29/11/2022 13:50

This is not the first occasion India has been racist. A few weeks ago India said something very unpleasant to Sonia Sodha (guardian journalist and channel 4 broadcaster), implying that Sonia does not belong in the U.K. and tries too hard.

Both tweets were objectively racist and would pass the threshold of malicious comms in that there was an intent to be nasty and cause distress in response to India’s perceived hurt feelings.

I don’t see India being arrested for hurt feelings and having India’s devices seized. And, rightly so. Being offensive online should not be a criminal offence and India was not inciting violence or threats, but simply demonstrating how they other non-white British women.

Let those who might consider India as a useful spokesman for their brand or cause, make their own decisions.

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 29/11/2022 13:52

I think she's pointing out that just like putting trans woman as all one word is transphobic, putting black woman all as one word is racist.
It is, horribly so.
That's her point though.
Definitely don't agree with tackling transphobia with racism though.

How exactly is that transphobic? how ridiculous. Everything is transphobic these days.
