Because it suggests/reveals that people don't think 'trans' is just an adjective-like-any-other to describe a woman. Which, let's face it, is because it's not an adjective that describes a woman.
I think India is massively misplacing where India is directing the worry here, and should instead be thinking about why anyone would buy into the idea that language makes a man a woman, or that coercing other people's grammar makes a man a woman, or that clothes do, or makeup, or surgery.
It can't be done. And that's why India will never be happy.
