I saw a black trans woman (blacktranswoman? black transwoman? can't really keep up but i don't really want to be impolite)
Anyway, saw a black trans woman jump in and basically call them both out, because the first made a transphobic comment, then India replied with a racist comment. And remarked that they, the black trans woman, felt unsafe around both of them.

Which is all by the by for me because i simply can't care for either of the posters. But the transphobic comment? It was - and I'm aware that they do have history so this is probably a bit goady of her - to ask what need trans women have of tampons.

I really, in my most welcoming of trans people (which i am) spirit, cannot understand why this is transphobic. Not least because IW is way past the age when any woman would need period products. Even if they were a biological woman, which they are not. I find the whole thing hugely uneddifying. But am always disturbed by the number of (cis - urgh) men who jump in with TWAW.

I notice the (cis - urgh) men don't tend to spout, apropos of noting, TMAM though. Funny, that.

Fififafa · 29/11/2022 15:45

IW is one of the most racist TRAs around. Trying to liken black women to men who want to be/pretend to be women, doesn’t surprise me. This is classic misogynoir from TRAs.
IW isn’t getting media roles or invites anymore because most outlets are realising that IW’s grasp on reality has disappeared as fast as that hairline.

Brefugee · 29/11/2022 15:47

it's such a pity, in a way. I do wish Morgan had said "yes, come on the show, we'll do a spot with an OB/GYN on screning for cervical cancer and you can get up in the chair"

FOJN · 29/11/2022 15:47

I don't think India is well and hasn't been for sometime. This is not a snide post using people with mental ill health to mock India, I genuinely don't think India is mentally/emotionally stable and needs some help.

BatCheeseIsFine · 29/11/2022 15:54

Wow I hadn't realised this at all! I hadn't looked very closely (and haven't really watched IW on TV ever) and thought IW was younger. That makes it even more interesting about the tampons. Presumably if you really thought you were a woman, had a cervix and menstruated, you'd also think you would stop doing so at around 50 because that's what women do?

UrsulaPandress · 29/11/2022 15:55

Does Windy Illerby exist anywhere outside Twitter?

Utter tosser.

A lot of facial surgery involved. Plus, I think quite a few middle-aged male transitioners have said they want to 'have their missed teenage girlhood', so probably don't picture themselves as middle-aged women.

Anyway, who knows what IW knows or has ever even briefly considered about real-life women's bodies? Probably would think it's not relevant to womanhood.

IW has always talked a load of old rot.

Yep. Called her out on it and she called me a terf and blocked me. Had to Google what a terf was... turns out it doesn't mean challenging people who talk shit at all

What other bag? His ball bag?

If you can make an argument or a point you’re called a terf instantly.

Bugeyedowl · 29/11/2022 16:30

Wow. Don't know who this person is but to equate trans women to black women is disgusting and shocking. Black women are women, they are not a subset!!!

TWs ARE a subset (whether they like it or not) but all natural-born women ARE WOMEN.

Disclaimer - don't know all the correct/up to date terminology because I don't follow the trans debate that closely but this is just another way to put down black women and I don't give a flying f-- about the TW 's feelings if they think they're somehow justified in doing so. ONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER!

MissLawls · 29/11/2022 16:31

Yes @UrsulaPandress seems to be a guest on choice on a few TV and radio programmes.

Jackiebrambles · 29/11/2022 16:36

@ApocalipstickNow that made me snort Grin

IW is a massive, massive wanker and if they hadn't already blocked me on Twitter I would have reported that tweet.

Signalbox · 29/11/2022 16:49

It just more language control.
Trans activists love to pretend that the language in relation to trans is organically changing over time. In reality it is forced by shaming the non-compliant and calling us bigots.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/11/2022 16:57

TWs ARE a subset (whether they like it or not)

An intersection ... they are a subset of trans people and a subset of males. Not a subset of women.

Happylittlechicken · 29/11/2022 17:03

@Bugeyedowl TW are a subset of males, they are in no way women.

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 29/11/2022 13:52

I think she's pointing out that just like putting trans woman as all one word is transphobic, putting black woman all as one word is racist.
It is, horribly so.
That's her point though.
Definitely don't agree with tackling transphobia with racism though.

Equating women who are black to males is what is horribly racist.

India would never say 'whitewoman' to someone who is white, and we all know why.

I'm not surprised at India's racism tbh, they have always come across as thoroughly unpleasant, but I am surprised they are so blatant about it.

arethereanyleftatall · 29/11/2022 17:30

What I don't get about his Twitter page is the really large following. I get that the page is never going to be balanced, because anyone who disagrees with him is blocked; but, lots of his comments get tens of likes. Who are these people?

Farmageddon · 29/11/2022 17:34

ControversialOpening · 29/11/2022 15:27

I have plenty of terms I'd rather use than transwoman. They're more accurate as well.

Many places won't accept these terms, despite the fact they are true, so 'transwoman' is a compromise. I will never describe a male as a woman.

As far as I recall, MN used to ban people (or possibly delete posts) that referred to trans identified males, not sure what the rules are now.

Babasghost · 29/11/2022 17:40

Day drinking at the loose women studio ...not really working out.

Racist uncle emerges every time.
Followed by dad dancing groping interns then puking whilst pissing against a wall outside.

Rightsraptor · 29/11/2022 17:49

According to Wikipedia IW is 57. I am at a loss to know why a 57 yo TW would bother with san pro but what do I know? I don't think tampons would actually be much use as ear plugs anyway.

Who is this Esther who has a blue tick? Unless there's a back story, she seems to have asked a perfectly reasonable question that any rational person might ask.

RedToothBrush · 29/11/2022 17:58

AlisonDonut · 29/11/2022 14:00

So, do we know yet what exactly males do with tampons they are buying in support of Tampax's vile tweet?

Willoughby replied in a class deflect technique.

Every has seen the attack but no one has answered the question of why tampons should be advertised to transwomen given their primary use is for a function exclusive to actual women because of their sex not gender.

Its known that a small number of transwomen are using tampons in a creepy way which is clearly the subject that Willoughby is trying to hide.

So it's important to point out that Willoughby is dropping a racist dead cat to avoid the inconvenient truth of there being a market worth advertising to, for the fetishised usage of tampons by transwomen, for businesses.

Helleofabore · 29/11/2022 18:10

Well, unless a male is carrying a tampon to stick in a wound similar to a bullet wound and they are qualified first aid or para medics, then no, I don't see any reason beyond a fetish that they would use one.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/11/2022 18:24

As far as I recall, MN used to ban people (or possibly delete posts) that referred to trans identified males, not sure what the rules are now.

Still in the guidelines, and afaik subject to the possibility of 3 deletes getting a suspension, in the section which covers 'misgendering'.

That said, it’s clear that most trans people find the use of pronouns or names that they or others have consciously rejected, to be hurtful and would therefore struggle to engage in a discussion with those who insist on using them. The same is true of the expression ‘Trans-Identified Male’ or ‘TIM’. Likewise, many feminists are affronted by the term ‘cis’ and ‘terf’, so using these terms will make civil debate less likely. As we’ve said, context is everything – but our moderation team will most likely delete these expressions if we feel they're being used in a deliberately inflammatory way.

The problem is this 'context' thing. There are plenty of discussions around the use of 'TERF' or 'cis', but using 'TIM' - even in a way most of us wouldn't think was inflammatory or directed at a specific individual - is liable to get deleted. I don't believe this post will as it's very clearly just discussing guidelines and usage - if anyone reports it that would say a lot about them.
