This has blown my mind. I cannot imagine being married to anyone who supported the silencing and intimidation of women. Unless, of course, I agreed with them that women should be silenced and intimidated.

There are probably some ardent Remainers who were surprised to discover they were married to ardent Brexiteers. Sometimes unexpected political things happen when you are already married and you have to decide if it's important enough to divorce over.

I'm not saying being married to a TRA doesn't have its challenges but we love each other so we make it work.

ControversialOpening · 25/11/2022 12:06

Dismissing this difference as Judean People's Front, is a lazy comparison.

Thats ok. I think it’s wilfully obtuse not to see the similarity.

PatsArrow · 25/11/2022 12:07

My beloved gran and grandad were Tory and Labour. They loved each other dearly and had an amazing long marriage. I don't know how they did it - just polite disagreement and debate around election time I believe.

Maybe it was a different era and couldn't happen now?

PatsArrow · 25/11/2022 12:08

Just adding, that fundamental Womens rights would be a line in the sand for me!

I can't bring myself to consider Remain/ leave as anything close to whether or not women should be able to speak without being harassed and whether men should be allowed to undress with girls.
You're declaring a huge conflict of interest imo.

MsMcWibble · 25/11/2022 12:10

So at the Brighton event, which side of the police barrier were you on?
Sorry, I can't compute this. I no longer think you have any interest in women's rights and suddenly your involvement here is clear to me.
This isn't Brexit.

Helleofabore · 25/11/2022 12:11

Which incidentally is all I've ever wanted WPUK to do.

But that core group (those in the three groups) have recently tried to push very hard on defining 'real feminism'. And to make their style of feminism, complete with bullying behaviour, as 'the' true feminists.

I think that old adage is so true.

Once you see it, you cannot unsee it.

And I now see some of the women who had built their brand on being the 'righteous' feminists are feeling very unhappy with women saying that they now identify with other women who are now being forced into the corner and saying, well, actually I am not 'left wing feminist'. Because the more moderate feminists (who are still working on a wide range of issues and are still feminists (although they are saying they are not) who were once the focus because of their own court cases that really set the standard and their own books) are seen as being more aspirational then those declaring themselves as the 'real feminists'.

EveEveander · 25/11/2022 12:11

Moreover, it surprises me that you can manage such an enormous difference of opinion personally, but seem to support the public distancing/ harmful disavowing of a woman making impressive strides for women because she's not left wing

That's interesting (and reassuring).

If lifelong Labour / Tory voters can manage a happy marriage then surely SFW supporters and left wing feminists can manage respectful dialogue.

Straw man.

Sure they can.

How about that group of Brighton Feminists admit they are bullies and stop the bullying and frankly, most of this fuck up will probably cease immediately.

Helleofabore · 25/11/2022 12:15

If it has not been clear enough, the respect is fully lacking on the part of a group of Brighton Feminists.

Until that behaviour changes, I can only image the answer will be, and rightfully, FUCK OFF.

Helleofabore · 25/11/2022 12:15

Fuck off and stop the DARVO.

EveEveander · 25/11/2022 12:17

Agreed

This. 100% this

That's not a straw man though.

This isn't Brexit.

My exact movements were this. I walked past the rally on my way home. I'd actually forgotten that KJK was holding a rally, it had already started by the time I walked past.

I stopped and tried to listen to some of the women speak, couldn't hear a thing. Couldn't see any of the speakers through the crowds. I spotted Maya Forstater and had a nice chat with her. I saw a couple of women I knew and said hello. I walked around, took a few photos then left.

SapphosRock · 25/11/2022 12:24

Sorry cross posted with all the lovely fuck off messages. I've tried my best but it's clear this isn't a conversation we can have.

TinselAngel · 25/11/2022 12:25

Start by persuading your friends to take that hate page down then, because currently the disrespect is entirely one way.

This is guilt by association and I think it's wrong. Sapphos is her own person and cannot be held accountable for the beliefs of another. How they negotiate their political differences within their marriage is really no one else's business.

There's enough wrong with Sappho's claims and manipulations without resorting to the same tactics to try to discredit her.

The fuck off messages were not to you though Sappho.

They were following on from the post saying that until the group of Brighton feminists stop their bullying behaviour that I imagine that SFW will say ‘fuck off and stop the darvo’.

I apologise that I was unclear.

Unless you are one of the bullying group? Are you?

MsMcWibble · 25/11/2022 12:28

You'd forgotten all about it, eh?
The woman you are obsessively posting about on here was holding a meeting in Brighton - a meeting that your partner was protesting - and you forgot all about it.
I do hope that I was in the photos you took. Rather than another woman who could be harmed.

ZandathePanda · 25/11/2022 12:29

Maya’s petition to government (for making clear sex means biological sex in the Equality Act) has the usual map for % of constituents voting. It has the greatest % in those areas like Brighton which is interesting.

SapphosRock · 25/11/2022 12:24

Sorry cross posted with all the lovely fuck off messages. I've tried my best but it's clear this isn't a conversation we can have.

However, if the group is wanting to have that conversation then it would be very childish to say that while that page is up and those posts are still on the fb page.

I understand that you personally want the discussions, but there is no evidence whatsoever that the leadership group want that discussion.
