Is it time to just ignore Sappho, due to the constant attempts at derailing this thread? I'm finding the constant KJK bashing that Sappho is doing (while denying she is doing it!) very annoying. And the faux outrage that we might dare to challenge her "true feminist" friends.

Yes, I think so. The derailing and whataboutery are tiresome, repetitive and divisive, bitter and <checks notes> horrid.

TheBiologyStupid · 24/11/2022 22:48

My (very early) New Year's resolution is to ignore all derails from now on (unless humorous/biscuit-related etc.) and relentlessly focus on the thread's topic. (Will probably go as well as dry January, I expect...)

Good luck to KJK if Wiltshire police come knocking. I'm sure they'll regret it if they do, and rightly so.

(The New Year always gets off to a good start...)

BellaAmorosa · 24/11/2022 23:32

@thistimelastweek
I personally would call KJK a feminist because she centres women and girls in everything but she herself rejects the label. She's not anti-feminist, just has some disagreements with mainstream feminism eg doesn't think motherhood is valued enough, also doesn't agree with libfems or the academic because they don't do enough practically to help ordinary women. This is my take, so I may be misrepresenting KJK.

And another vote for getting the thread back on track, please.

Shinyredbicycle · 24/11/2022 23:55

Sorry, just to back track... The Kitten Pinder video linked up thread - who is she please?

Feministwoman · 25/11/2022 00:04

KJK DOES Feminism. Even if she doesn't call herself a Feminist.

She walks the walk.

So many "so called Feminists" just talk the talk.

I know who I'd rather support.

And, I've voted with my purse.

As I've previously said, goodbye WPUK monthly subscription. Their financial loss.

I don't like purity spirals.

Viva SFW.

A very limited selection of your positive towards KJK posts, (because there are very few to choose! )

So many of the rest of your posts are negative towards her, but I notice you don't quote any of them.

I see what you are doing, you know. I am (we are?) not stupid.

NewLightbulbs · 25/11/2022 01:27

@SapphosRock

What I cannot understand is how you can simultaneously seek to support women like the Sarah in Brighton who is justifiably seeking same-sex support for rape trauma; but at the same time demonising a woman who is giving the microphone to all and any women who wish to speak.

I think you mentioned that there's a group of Brighton people in closed-doors negotiations. That's the problem, right there. Closed-doors negotiations carried out by women who regard themselves as spokeswomen, even though no-one ever asked them and no-one ever nominated them?

Thanks Bore.

SapphosRock · 25/11/2022 07:19

@NewLightbulbs

Sarah’s court case next year is going to be really important. If she wins then it will establish women in the UK do have the legal right to single sex spaces.

KJK’s event had little to do with Sarah’s case. Correct me if I’m wrong but AFAIK nobody who took the mic mentioned the case or anything to do with the law surrounding single sex spaces. Sarah herself would not have been able to speak because her anonymity has been court ordered.

If people choose not to support Sarah, or believe Sarah should not be a spokeswoman for women’s rights because some of Sarah’s supporters have vocalised their disagreement with KJK then that is entirely up to them.

It is really sad that women working towards the same end goal have become so divided.

EveEveander · 25/11/2022 07:33

The division has come about as a direct result of a smear campaign against KJK by some outspoken socialist feminists. It is / they are hobbling the wider campaign to combat the assault of gender identity ideology on womens rights and children's safety.

NecessaryScene · 25/11/2022 07:33

If people choose not to support Sarah, or believe Sarah should not be a spokeswoman for women’s rights because some of Sarah’s supporters have vocalised their disagreement with KJK then that is entirely up to them.

And it would be reprehensible.

So this is what, you making up suggestions about what other people are doing, when they're not, to justify other people's reprehensible behaviour?

I guess that is the libfem pattern - "woman can rape women too" (when they're not) to obscure the fact it's men doing it.

beastlyslumber · 25/11/2022 07:43

Yes it is sad Sappho. Are you regretting your divisive words and actions now? I hope so. Shame on you for what you've done.

Thanks for that.

It seems to me that there is broad support for Sarah's case. Her crowdfund is certainly well supported. If she wins it will benefit all women. Who is saying they don't support her because she is supported by people who are critical of KJK?

TheHarpySings · 25/11/2022 08:06

”The consequence of her event has been massively toxic for relations between women and the trans community”

lol if you’d been paying attention prior to the moment the TRA movement inconvenienced and upset you by fucking with your favourite local hummus and wraps emporium, you’d have know the relations between the two had always been shit. I attended a WPUK meeting in Brighton years ago that was protested by vicious and scary TRAs- women were afraid to leave the building because of their behaviour (this was the meeting that your buddy Daimbars chose to lie about, remember?). They’ve always been horrible arseholes to women.

If it makes you feel any better Daimbars is being relentlessly bullied by Brighton TRAs.

They always go for their allies.

NecessaryScene · 25/11/2022 08:15

There are posts about it on this thread NecessaryScene

So you read "I am becoming very wary of the increasing numbers of court cases that seem to be primarily about raising the profile of the initiator", and something in your head translates that into "choose not to support Sarah, or believe Sarah should not be a spokeswoman for women’s rights".

Can you not see the pattern in what you're doing here? This is like the sperm donation vs egg donation thing.

You are continually twisting things by generalising, then making specific again:

"Someone says something about A. A is a kind of X. B is a kind of X. Therefore that person is saying something about B."

If you're not doing it in bad faith, you need to figure out why you're doing it.

lovelyweathertoday · 25/11/2022 08:23

Just a reminder that what KJK does is take the argument about women's rights to public spaces. We should be able to speak truthfully about women absolutely anywhere in this country.

Apparently some women in Brighton don't want us to do that in Brighton because men get upset about it.

I really hope the KJK does get prosecuted for what she said in Brighton. Most people don't realise that saying men aren't women in public puts you at risk of violence.
