I was referring to women being assaulted and harassed by other women for not looking girly enough.

Because this happens 🙄🙄🙄🙄

"the cis isomer of stilbene"

This has the sum of fuck all to do with being a woman 🤦‍♀️

But as others asked, what’s gender? I don’t have a gender as far as I’m aware and I don’t think I’m trans so what does that make me? Just a woman I’m guessing?

Absolutely! So (most of) the trans community belive that sex and gender are separated I think. So you are born 'male' (your sex) and normally want to be 'female' but you can only change your gender to be 'transwoman' bc chromosomes/sex can't be changed. This is why you would be called a 'cis' woman in those circles, to descibe that your sex is the same as your gender. Again, not saying you need to agree, just that's a lot of the line of thinking in the community.

But if men weren't invading women's spaces and shouting about it, would women even be alert to the possibility that someone in their space might be a man?

It's a bit like with terrorism. There are plenty of false alarms because a suspicious bag has been left somewhere. No one would bother to notice and report suspicious packages if terrorist attacks weren't a real threat.

IcakethereforeIam · 30/10/2022 00:44

@Thehawki you seem to mean well, but 'cis' absolutely is an insult unless you're of the faith. It is used to try to reduce women to a subset of their own sex, which is fine if you've bought into gender ideology, but not at all okay if you haven't. Posts have been deleted(!) for less.

You're still failing to describe what gender is/means.

I'm confused by your question? I'm saying 'cis' is a term used to describe people who are not trans. Presumably OP used it to clear up that the lady wasn't shouting at someone for being in the wrong bathroom.

No, you didn't say it meant people who are not trans, you said it meant people whose gender is the same as their sex. Most people don't have a gender, so they are not cis but also not really trans.

I say this as an agender person with what used to be called a female body. I hate it when people assume I'm cis. It's misgendering and seems to be based on the fact that I don't try and pass as a man. It's aggressive to assume I have a gender.

I've never come across the line of thinking that people don't have a gender, can you explain that to me? How can you be agender if most people don't have one?

Agender means I don't have a gender.

Most people don't have a gender. They just have a body of either the male type or female type. They have previously called themselves men and women as that was a term understood just to refer to biological attributes.

That little woman sign 🚺 has never kept men out. Didn’t stop the man who followed me into the toilets and peeked over the top of the cubicle while I was weeing. And no, this wasn’t a transwoman. I’m not alone either, women have been raped by men in womens toilets. To blame this “alertness” on transwomen is pretty silly.

We are not talking about suspicious objects, but suspicious people. And if you’re going to draw a terrorism parallel, then you’re arguing it’s ok to report anyone Muslimish wandering around airports because of “terrorism” just like you think it’s ok to report anyone mannish wandering into a womens toilet.

VinoDino · 30/10/2022 00:53

Discovereads · 29/10/2022 23:58

Yep this happens. More frequently now though because womens toilets obsessed fascists like KJK have emboldened some of their usually middle aged GC followers to harass and confront anyone who isn’t adhering to feminine stereotypes and performing woman correctly.

Truth is you can’t tell with 100% certainty what sex a person is just by looking at them.

I thought the victim handled it really well

I've recently cut my hair short, never wear high heels, dresses or skirts and to be fair my chin hair is making an appearance faster than I would like. Though unlikely, if a woman in a toilet or changing room etc etc challenged me I would high five her for her safeguarding senses. Because I am a woman. A man's entitlement wouldn't. That's the difference.

Not in this video. But in other situations women have been assaulted for not looking woman enough.

I think it’s more because you’re a middle aged woman and don’t give a fuck.
Its not nice to be mistaken for a boy/man when you’re young.

DarkDayforMN · 30/10/2022 00:54

and I have gotten called out several times for being in the men's room

this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. It reads like the script was written by twelve year olds. No one with a brain could think this is real, but I suppose if you believe that men can change sex you'll believe anything.

Locking doors, ring doorbells, cameras, light sensors haven't deterred determined burglars but people still put these measures in place to deter the bad folks....

None of which are installed in the entryway to the woman’s toilets. The only deterrence is a pitiful little logo of 🚺

I have friends that descibe themselves as 'agender' and would want me to use they/them pronouns bc they dont identify with their biological sex. My experience in life is probably different to yours and I ask you to explain things slightly more kindly and not assume I understand everything that you do, or that I'm saying things maliciously.

For most people 'woman' just means 'person with female body'. They don't feel like a woman which is how you're trying to use the concept of 'woman'. For most people gender does not exist on a personal level other than as a a reference to biological sex. Hence they are not cis.

If you think about gender being something different from the body (and TRAs are very clear it’s not a medical/ of the body issue), then that means it’s something different - like a soul or some other entity. What else can it be - unless you have another definition?

And if you don’t believe in that type of religious/ ideological position, how can you believe in a gender?

So for me specifically, I can’t be Cis because I don’t have a gender as far as I’m aware - but would really love to hear a clear definition so I can know for sure.
