Just been sent this video after I said I thought JK is pretty fierce and I have a lot of respect for her.

My initial feeling is it's a big smear campaign and much may be false or exaggerated? Not sure what to respond to them. Is there a quick way to debunk all or much of it?

Really? Even if that resulted in excluding Sikh and Hindu women from your feminist events?

TheKeatingFive · 19/10/2022 14:48

I also love the way the 'far right' is positioned like the only big bad in the world. The left have committed their fair share of atrocity.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/10/2022 17:51

Watch the video, it's wall to wall receipts.

Is it really. I'm sure you could give some details. I'm not going to watch this twat's video. But happy to comment on receipts posted here, if you're bothered enough to share them.

I don't know why TRAs are going down this route.

On their 'side' they have, for starters:

Peter Tatchell - on record as saying he thinks adults having sex with 9 year olds is OK in specific circumstances.

Jacob Breslow - gave a talk at a conferences for paedos and wrote something in his blog which heavily implied that he himself is a paedophile.

Vaush - has said stuff about sex with underage girls being OK.

Oh goody, another round of "Who's on your side?".

Here's my starter for ten:

Gordon Pike - convicted for possessing images of CSA and advocate for men with identities being housed in women's prisons in Scotland

James Rennie - ran what was described as Scotland's biggest and worst paedophile ring and was CEO of LGBT Youth Scotland.

Tara Hewitt - advisor and trainer on equality, diversity and transgender policy across the NHS and Catholic anti-abortionist.

Edward Lord - non-binary Free Mason who campaigned to have single sex spaces removed from City Of London and who described Dr. Ken Plummer, a paedophile advocate and member of PIE, as "a hero".

David Challenor - convicted child rapist who identified as a 10 year old girl when committing said crime.

Sausagesfordinner · 19/10/2022 20:09

To me, the risk is that by seeming to stand alongside some dodgy groups because your views coincide with theirs on one issue, you become easier to dismiss.

Most TRAs believe the world is round and so do most paedophiles. Are they aligned? Mind you, so do most gender critical people, so are we all aligned?

Moonatics · 19/10/2022 20:35

tig101 · 19/10/2022 10:03

regardless of your view on the trans issue all this video is showing is who jk is aligning herself with. which is some far right Christian fascists. denying it is foolish and if you actually watch the video youl learn that loads of groups who are anti trans are now distancing themselves from her and her associates due to it.

if you think its ok to lie in bed with some people who are basically neo nazis just because you agree on ONE topic then thats up to you, all this video is doing is pointing that out.

i suppose none of that matters if you just comment and defend her without even bothering to watch the video or follow her regardless as it looks like most of you do.

I dont have the time, please list who she is "aligning" with, I mean the picture/thumbnail shows Julie bindel and maya and Helen joyce and some others who are not far right or Christian or fascists.

Then explain how she is aligning with the other people who are not in the thumbnail but I am guessing they are? Far right and Christian and fascists?

What groups are anti trans?

I am not two years old, trying to call me names to shame me wont work. Trying to imply that I am far right and Christian and a fascist will just leave me shrugging my shoulders wondering why you care what I am or am not, how does it affect your life if you find out I'm a liberal who personally detests all religions but keeps quiet because who cares about my opinion
And cannot be a fascist because I'm liberal. The two dont really gel well.

I may agree with you that "none of that matters" does that mean we align?

lifeinthelastlane · 19/10/2022 21:25

It's all a bit, "I've danced with a man, who's danced with a girl, who's danced with the Prince of Wales".

TheClogLady · 19/10/2022 21:32

6 Degrees of Separation from Kevin Bacon!

I just put Daniel Radcliffe into the Bacon Oracle..

(can’t do JK as she’s not an actor)

@lifeissweet ah ! I get it now sorry ! Was waking up as on nights when I read your reply and kinda not understanding! This is all just horrible nasty bullshit isn't it against JK ? Business as usual but with a really crap video blog maker?

Blister · 20/10/2022 06:55

Someone like, @ool0n, who can't dissociate the words and actions of separate individuals is going to be the line manager generation for those currently in primary school.

The effects of this echo chamber information analysis, and the inability to tell reality from desired state, will have impacts for generations to come...

Helleofabore · 20/10/2022 08:04

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/10/2022 13:38

If you won't listen to him, can you empathise with Angela Wild of "Get the L out", in my mind one of the most extreme "GC" groups.

You should go and tell your buddies you're aligned with Angela on this issue. It's making our point for us.

Yes!

Helleofabore · 20/10/2022 08:36

So you can't show where any "TRAs" or trans groups are working with far right groups

How very specific.

It is laughable to see this posted.

So, ‘far right groups’ are the only groups in the world that are harmful to society? And therefore, the fact that some far right groups talk about the same things as feminists or listen to feminists or utilise feminists for their own causes, puts feminists into disrepute.

Yet, the groups that are problematic WITHIN the movement of securing access for males into female sex based rights and protections are not mentioned. This poster has narrowed the focus purely on ‘far right’. Without bringing attention to the ‘far left’ for balance or symmetry.

The far left. And, we also had a poster who introduced many of us jeeringly and proudly to their ‘crowd’ the transmaxxers and even told us about how incels become transmaxxers. That thread got deleted sadly, it was both instructive and informative.

But also as other posters have pointed out the new alphabet letters belonging to the new euphemism MAP.

And we are quite happy to post the misogynist quotes of Lavery, Ivy or McKinnon which ever name was being used at the time of making the statements, Chou, and the list goes on. And yet, they are still part of the movement.

Of course, we also have the people already mentioned actively working in the UK. Some even celebrated for their work such as Tatchell. And let’s not forget Mermaids ex-trustee, Breslow.

Strange that a poster wants us to believe that there is just one group that are problematic in the world to focus attention away from the many other types of ‘problematic’ groups and individuals within the group who wish to lower the boundaries needed by women and children.

DameMaud · 20/10/2022 08:39

Yes Blister..
You have succinctly articulated a core fear here. It's what, for me, creates a background hum of dystopian unease.

Maturity and wisdom are signified by understanding complexity, contradiction, and nuance; and by accepting and working with reality rather than denying it.

It would be ok if it was just 'the kids'; they'd just be doing what they are supposed to- being one track and idealistic.
But it's the 'adults' (institutions, education etc) that are doing it too- and that is what is so unsettling.

Helleofabore · 20/10/2022 09:28

Here are some of Mermaid’s ‘friends’.

Of course activists are going to keep the divisiveness alive with this ‘far right’ narrative. It is marvelous distraction from the issues of their own affiliations, employees, and activists. Those that are trans and those that are not.

imagine making excuses for someone who platforms and publicly praises people who are homophobes, anti abortion campaigners , far right reactionaries, Christian conservatives, paedophile apologists, fascists and down right neo-Nazis just because they agree on one subject. yes all your key buzz word types are involved with her.

imagine then denying thats happening.

In Germany we had a saying that if there’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis.

it as true today as it was then.

JustStopOilyPoshKids · 20/10/2022 15:20

who are the paedophile apologists @tig101 Mermaids?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/10/2022 15:25

Exactly. If we're casting out all people who have ever platformed paedophile apologists, the TRA side is going to have to do that to several of their philosophers, clinicians, organisations and activists.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/10/2022 15:28

Who is supposedly platforming and publicly praising these people? JKR?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/10/2022 15:29

Let's see those receipts, tig.

And most of their YouTubers.

This is quite a list.

I notice that you have included some people who are not really controversial in that list as means for you to convey legitimacy, but who are also the 'anti-abortion campaigners' that are 'involved' with Joanne Rowling?

I think you are over reaching on this. And I also find your 'guilt by association' to be over simplistic and not really reflective of modern UK society. A society where people can sit at a table together for many reasons, have very divergent beliefs and still have a discussion without aligning their beliefs.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 20/10/2022 18:29

Homophobes like Nancy Kelley, anti abortion campaigners like Tara Hewitt, far right reactionaries like the Iranian and Palestinian Governments (which have both been praised by Pink News), Christian conservatives like Kai Shappley’s parents, pedophile apologists like… jfc where do you even start with this one, I can’t believe you had the effrontery to add this to your list… fascists like the Black Pampers and downright neo-Nazis like all the 4chan trans contingent who had a ‘Nazi phase’ oh and we haven’t even got on to the rapists, and the racists, and I won’t even start with the misogynists because it would be impossible to ever, ever end.

Ah, sayings, which are always true and negate any need for evidence.

Presumably @tig101 you agree with everyone on this thread, as you are talking with us.

LaughingPriest · 20/10/2022 18:37

Is the Oasis Trust considered a Christian organisation? Steve Chalke etc?
