The whole 'aligning with the far right' thing is getting very old.
People who believe in biology and want to protect children from gender ideology are not in a 'movement'. There is no Gender Critical collective with a manifesto. We don't all sign up to one particular campaign or join one Gender Critical political party. We have no leaders. We are individuals with one shared belief. That's it.
So if some 'GC' people allow someone from
The far right to speak to them, or film them that doesn't tarnish everything. We can't be collectively responsible for what some people - who share that one single belief - do.
I am not about to go around condemning people who I have nothing to do with except agree on one issue.
I have no problem with Caroline Farrow. I am not in a 'tribe' with her. I am an atheist, pro-choice, leftie feminist. She is not my problem to go around 'condemning' we agree on one thing, we disagree on almost all else. I will do my thing, she will do hers... I don't 'align' with her in general. Neither will I 'condemn' her.
Where does that end? Who else to I need to start making statements to distance myself from? 'Oh crap. The Taliban know what a woman is. People might think I 'align' with them. Better publicly condemn. Who else?... Trump! Better make sure everyone knows I condemn him. Matt Walsh is a misogynist... but he agrees on gender. I had better publicly condemn him! ... ' and on and on...
I was at Brighton. I had no idea HoO were there. I'm not happy that they were, but it was a free, public event. I've no idea how anyone would have stopped them (and on what grounds). I also don't 'align' with PP on some things, but she facilitates conversations and there were lots of women there who had interesting stories to share. It was a great event. I'm glad I went. I still do not align with the far right because there were some arseholes there.
What are we expected to do? What is JKR expected to do? Publish a list of approved allies?
