Continuation thread from Antipodean fruit grower statement

A statement from the owner reads in part:

Downtime Update as of August 26th, 2022

"What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [REDACTED] can [REDACTED] little boys and girls into [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which allows criticism of their [REDACTED], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead."

I would link to the statement on the Internet Archive aka "Wayback Machine" but it has made all pages archived from the relevant site unsearchable (or deleted?).

Mumsnet does not permit links to the site Archive Today so that is out too.

" can you provide evidence of this?"

I don't feel it necessary to provide proof for here, but rest assured the Wayback Machine are aware of the thread on KF about them. I'm sure they will have a legal team who can decide the necessary action to take if any.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/09/2022 18:29

I don't feel it necessary to provide proof for here

Then I don't feel it necessary to believe anything you say.

Bit pot/kettle black that, innit?

do as I say and not do as I do?

Or as we say in my house - all talk, and no trousers.

And it looks like Jersh is cleaning house, so marg will be happy!

“REGARDING @kiwifarmschat, I am interested in closing it. It is a serious source of plonkers [my replacement to save from the ban hammer] and despite the best efforts of the anime avatars who are running it, there is so much deliberate fedposting and falseflagging going on. It will only stop if the channel has nothing to do with the Kiwi Farms.

On that note, I am probably going to lock it with a message that directs people to other Telegram chats that want to deal with a bunch of plonkers [my replacement to save from the ban hammer].”

"I don’t think you should be using T word on here Marge (unless it’s a direct quote from a transgender person using it to self describe)"

I was quoting a thread title on KF.

I notice KF also use the word "tr**n" a lot. Is this a new derogatory term or something?

"No, grooming makes them a groomer."

If KF users really do have evidence of sexual crimes why aren't they sending their evidence to the police? Where is their evidence that the people who run the Wayback machine are "pedos" as they are now claiming? Have they made a police report with this evidence?

The term “troon” comes from the early days of the Internet when SomethingAwful was in its ascendency and its forum users were known as goons. Transgender forum users were nicknamed troons.

So........

@MargaritaPie

Are you still maintaining you had no knowledge of KF until recently?

I am protected.

I’m confused as to whether troon is a slur now, especially on the SA boards where it originated. I lurked on the boards until a couple of years ago when every single thread became about trans issues, which are boring to read about constantly. It was never supposed to be an insult, as you say, it was just an amalgamation of trans-goon.

Also, weird to see SA completely turn around politically and pretend things like Helldump never happened. KF takes it a little further with the doxing, but Helldump could be absolutely brutal.

Jesse Singal has a new SubStack piece up:

How Journalists Botched Their Coverage Of #DropKiwiFarms

Only half open, half for subscribers.

A few times a year I get deeply obsessed with a story, and that happened this month. The story is #DropKiwiFarms. Despite its outward appearance as little more than inscrutable (and loathsome) Internet Drama, it is actually quite an important story about free speech, internet culture, and how journalism (dys)functions.

I’d offer a few news links to summarize the basic facts, but the reporting has been so bad and so credulous that I’m not really comfortable linking out on this, and will provide a short summary instead, keeping links to a minimum. We went loooong on this on Blocked and Reported, in two episodes (voluminous links there if you want to dig deeper), but this post will be crisper and more argumentative — a lot of this stuff is just easier to understand and process in print, especially if you are coming to this from a place of little prior knowledge of these figures and controversies (which also means you’re living a better life than I am).

I wonder if Marg is currently off trying to sort out the real doxxers?

Did I just dream this or something?

I’m starting to think that there is something on the farms that someone really doesn’t want the world to know about.
(adjusts tin foil hat)

I wonder of blocked and reported will keep investigating.

IdiotCreatures · 19/09/2022 09:04

@coldmaitai have a look on pwned.com.
But if you didn't post anything, it's highly unlikely that anyone will pay attention to your data.
This also happened in 2018, but you can't find anything relating to that very easily now.
Also the IP address isn't as concerning in the UK, it very rarely links to the true location of the user.

Had you been sent an invitation? I thought it was invite only at that point or even new registrations blocked, and it was stressed on the site more than once to use a burner email address and VPN to access it.

Just noting:

  1. "coldmaitai" appears never to have posted on Mumsnet before
  2. the "cocktail connection" with "MargaritaPie", our resident expert on KF and its history who also claims never to have heard of it prior to the earlier Mumsnet thread.

Be a bit silly of Marg (or anyone) to sign up with a normal email - seeing as the site explicitly warned against it?

silly enough that it makes you wonder if someone posting such things is trying to get us to reveal info about our own KF use…

but being a reader is no indication that one might be a member, seeing as the farms is mostly public.

Anyone using standard email addresses or reusing passwords anywhere is a bit silly - even mumsnet has had a membership leak - albeit a low fi one (an intern did it, rather than a hacker).

Depends if the hacker(s) decide to publicly release all or part of the data.

A dating website (for cheaters) called Ashely Madison was hacked a few years ago and all data was publicly released and could be searched for specific details.

"Also the IP address isn't as concerning in the UK, it very rarely links to the true location of the user."

For the public it gives a vague geographic location and the ISP, but the ISP will be able to check their records and say which customer it belonged to at any given time.

Bosky · 19/09/2022 14:25

So helpful to have someone posting here who is so well-informed about hacking, data harvesting and doxing.

Any more insights to share, Marg?

Well margarita is completely fucked if she didn’t use a burner email thingy (lost the flow there)

hope you made sure you were protected when you were on KF marg

Moonatics · 19/09/2022 14:32

For the public it gives a vague geographic location and the ISP, but the ISP will be able to check their records and say which customer it belonged to at any given time

So vague if I search my last several IP addresses they appear to come from
London
Cheshire
Blackburn
Braintree
Settle and
Harrogate
Or in short, nowhere near me.
Granted the ISP can check exactly where, but giving out this information to anyone not entitled is against the law, and if someone works there and finds it out for others, that too is against the law and as I'm not currently that busy and this is a hill I'm willing to die on, I'll see them in court. I took the NHS to court for something similar so this will be a breeze in comparison.

TheClogLady · 19/09/2022 14:39

the ISP will be able to check their records and say which customer it belonged to at any given time.

they wouldn’t be allowed to disclose it unless it was to law enforcement as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

and as no laws were being broken on KF, that’s not a problem, is it?

I’d completely forgotten about Ashley Madison, what a clusterfuck that was. Dirty cheating bastards! Still, adultery isn’t criminal (and no longer one of the necessary grounds for a quick divorce either).

MargaritaPie · 19/09/2022 15:11

"and as no laws were being broken on KF"

I think views differ on that one.

Cloudflare were initially reluctant to drop services to KF, it was only when they realised the criminal activity and the safety threat posed by the site they took action.

Interesting to see the site was hacked because of something which Cloudflare would have protected against.
