I’m trying to understand the process which could lead to a one foot deep foam pit happening anywhere, let alone at a major event which has a budget and insurance and presumably does risk assessments and other staples of event management. How could you get to the point of the foam pit actually existing without anyone looking up “how to build a foam pit” and discovering that it’s supposed to be 4 feet deep minimum?

(I watched the Fyrefest documentary, but that situation seems different… there the whole event was a doomed clusterfuck so everyone went into ostrich mode. You’d think a failed foam pit would be an easier problem to face up to.)

New happenings on the Farm… freedom of speech and the internet as we know it could be under threat:

“Hello! You might notice the site is down. This is because Zayo, the ISP that I have been trying to get online since December, was serving requests for less than 12 hours before succumbing to a few angry emails. They claim that 1776 Hosting violated their AUP by hosting the Kiwi Farms. A copy of their AUP is attached. You can read through it, the entire thing is a single page, and we did not violate it.

The site can still come back but it might take a day just because this happened on a Saturday night (as 1am GMT on Sunday seems to be when everything happens). Simply getting the Kiwi Farms back online is not my main concern though.

Zayo is an Internet service provider. They are a big company with presence across the world. If Zayo is arbitrarily blocking entire networks because of individual sites, and they are doing so with no recourse, the Internet is doomed. We are watching in real time as the very foundations of our interconnected world buckle and fold.

I am reaching out to see if this decision can be reversed. I am going to ask that network engineers do the same. If you are in the industry and are concerned that this ISP you do business with behaves like this, contact your account manager immediately and say so.

As we are a US legal service, I believe we should enjoy a direct connection to the Internet. The complex routing I do is stupid and only needed due of a few complainers harassing the right people. Unless the good guys also band together and provide countering pressure, it will remain easy for these crybullies to isolate individuals like this at any given time.

Cannot edit on here so I'm just going to add that even that song is more extreme than KF in that the farms has strict rules about directly interfering with the cows. It's a look but don't touch place. All of this is happening simply because it's not backing down on letting people speak how they wish. The actual accusations are largely false or distortions. But large companies are dropping it based on second hand rumours and a whisper campaign.

There need to be protections in place to stop this sort of thing and consequences for those who spread lies.

As has been said before- stalking, doxxing and harassing groups of people you dislike until they commit suicide is not "freedom of speech".

Good to see the hate site kiwifarms has struggled to stay online for any length of time thanks to hosts taking violent threats seriously and enforcing their terms of service and banning them.

In fairness I think the site is too mainstream and wide based. Media such as the MailOnline would pick up the free speech baton on their behalf. The farmers are much more niche so it ghastly been easier to smear their reputation.

Yes of course I agree there should be a sex offender system, and that sex offenders are known to the public. This is the job for law enforcement and I disagree with non-professional would-be-vigilantes deciding who is or isn't a sex offender by their own criteria.

That’s the point. KF has NOT broken the terms and conditions.

Doxxing is not illegal. If you think it should be, that’s fine but it currently isn’t. As for the harassment accusations, they have been disproven repeatedly.

If doxxing and actual threats are a problem, then Twitter should be taken down immediately.

This restriction of free speech should be concerning to everyone. Right now, you disagree with what the farms say. What happens when the wind changes and people decide a different option or belief is wrong and come after websites you like. Remember whatever you do, your enemies can (and probably will) do the same to you.
