Continuation thread from Antipodean fruit grower statement

A statement from the owner reads in part:

Downtime Update as of August 26th, 2022

"What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [REDACTED] can [REDACTED] little boys and girls into [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which allows criticism of their [REDACTED], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead."

I would link to the statement on the Internet Archive aka "Wayback Machine" but it has made all pages archived from the relevant site unsearchable (or deleted?).

Mumsnet does not permit links to the site Archive Today so that is out too.

There are lots of things on KF that I don't like.

But I treat it like I do any part of the internet. There are places which I find informative, there are places where I am not interested, and there are places where I know I won't like the content so I don't look for them.

I think some of their critics don't understand that the answer to their concerns about KF, is to stop shutting down discussion that is perfectly legal but that they just don't like. A site like KF gains popularity as a direct result of the "no debate" mantra, simply because it is somewhere that you can speak your mind. People go searching for places where they can have uncensored conversations.

It's useful in the sense that you have to reason your arguments because people will disagree with you (robustly!) so you'd better have your receipts and "no debate" simply won't fly.

And for those who feel duty-bound to lecture people for the perfectly legal websites they visit, I presume you also invest similar efforts in lecturing the Redditors who grace the subs which promote extreme pornography and anti-women content? And the clients who visit Punternet to discuss paying for sex and rating the women that they buy?

Kiwifarms is a hate site, you'd get fired from your job if your manager found out you were a member of it.

Posting names and addresses of transpeople and their families to stalk them is illegal. If you did this on Reddit or Facebook etc you'd be permanently banned and have the police at your door.

nothingcomestonothing · 25/05/2023 13:46

Over the downtime, the thread over on Mumsnet about Kiwifarms started up again, and the British terven seemed very keen to find Josh a British terf wife, to unite the sites. They believe such an alliance would turn Terf Island into Terf Empire and banish the [redacted] menace for once and for all.
They are however, aware that Null has a deep dislike of the British, and have decided he looks like Suzi Quattros fat nan, so have no illusions about what each side is bringing to the table. They're still willing to do a pitch to Channel 4 for the reality TV show, though.

Look lively, our cunning plan has been spotted.

Once again, for the people at the back:

It's not a hate site. It's totally legal. My being on it would be of no interest to my manager, because being on a legal website is neither illegal (duh) nor against my professional body's code of conduct.

No one is posting names and addresses of anybody, or stalking anybody. If you've got evidence for your assertions, please do share it (spoiler alert, you haven't).

And for the third time of asking, are you planning to apologise to the trans PP who you accused of trying to make trans people commit suicide?

Yay! But if Marbles is correct, will we lose our jobs?

Perhaps we will have new careers matchmaking farmers, who surely cant all look like Suzi Quattros fat nan, with Island Terfs.

GingerPCatt · 25/05/2023 16:27

I think Merlin has really lost his/her/their marbles!

Why would an employer care about someone looking at or posting on a totally legal website in their free time?

I manage a large team. I don’t care what they do in their free time. If they do something illegal (like a DDOS attack), that’s a matter for the police.

Just a reminder, doxxing is not illegal (if you feel it should be campaign for that) but DDOS attacks ARE illegal.

Hepwo · 25/05/2023 18:52

I'm a manager and there's no way I would fire anyone from their job if they used the farms. And I work in HR so I can confirm that would be an unfair dismissal.

What do you mean by "member" though. No one is a member!

PurpleBugz · 25/05/2023 19:46

Is there a free tor app for iPhone or am I going to have to pay? If so which is best/cheeper? Ya very much

To access the Kiwi Farms during this time, you need Tor. Tor is a legal and legitimate privacy service available to everyone.

  1. Download a Tor-capable browser one of these ways.
  1. Navigate to the following URL.
  2. //redacted//
  3. You have successfully bypassed thousands of dollars and thousands of manhours put into censoring the Kiwi Farms. Congratulations!

Incidentally I'd be interested in your sharing the specific law(s) being broken by someone who simply visits a website which isn't illegal. I'll wait.

I fear this may be the web equivalent of an argument which posits that reading Mein Kampf means that you are a nazi who plans to murder people. If that's the case, someone had better warn the historians.

I am, and have been for many years. I have a negative fifteen level of concern about being fired from my job, or having the police at my door.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 25/05/2023 19:58

I am quite excited about the potential MN / KW impending nuptials

If Josh is coming as Suzi Quattro's fat nan does that mean as a guest I can wear a white trouser suit? one to discuss endlessly on Style and Beauty

TheCreamTeaWasFromMe · 25/05/2023 19:59

How exactly does being fired from your job work if you are self employed? Do you have to sack yourself? Are you allowed to give yourself a reference? So many questions...

They won't answer this. They'll respond - possibly days from now - and just spout the same crap from the 'Oh Goodness, The Internet is a Bad Bad Place for Us' handbook about KF being a hate site, blah blah, Josh Moon, blah blah, trans suicides, blah blah. If I didn't know idiots like that really existed, I'd swear LandOFmerlinsmargaritas was a bot.

You have to have that weird conversation with yourself like Willem Defoe in the first Spiderman movie facing a mirror.

It's a little weird. But it rarely comes up because you know all your boss's dark secrets so it's rare they really want to risk firing you.

Waitwhat23 · 25/05/2023 20:40

Hah! Nicely done

We will wear white trouser suits and dance to northern soul numbers.

What will the dress code be for the farmers.

We will drink gin or Pinot Grigio and be very respectable.

ImNotAnExpert · 25/05/2023 21:30

KTF!

(Keep The Faith) not (Kiwi The Farms)

The dress code for the farmers will be a post ironic take on classic redneck attire, with a nerd twist.

I can't find the post now, but IIRC they think we drink Lambrini...

ImNotAnExpert · 25/05/2023 21:54

Lambrini? Fuck off!

PomegranateOfPersephone · 25/05/2023 22:03

They’ll soon learn our ways…

Mine’s a Merlot thanks, or some lovely English country wine, elderberry will do nicely.

Will the reception be held at the Bluestocking? 🤔

I went to Sussex and my friend who was studying history had to read Mein Kampf. One of the most liberal unis in the UK must be literal nazi land.

Needmoresleep · 25/05/2023 22:36

I hope it happens. I am quite looking forward to it.

Will Josh need special protection. Those piss takers, or rather piss throwers, might cause trouble. I guess we can offer them Lambrusco.
