Drag Queen Robert Clothier convicted (TW)

achillestoes · 14/08/2022 15:49

A drag queen named Robert Clothier (stage name Lady James) arranged a ‘liaison’ with a man and his two young children, for the purposes of a sexual encounter with the man and to assault/rape the children. It was a police sting. He has just been convicted and sentenced to 26 months in prison.

There is a difference of category between pantomime dames and modern ‘drag queens’. This isn’t theatre culture or acting; it’s a lifestyle, and a sexualised one.

I hope he serves every day of that time.

This was reported 9 years ago. Is there a reason you have shared it now?

achillestoes · 14/08/2022 16:11

Yes, I saw it being reported today on socials and thought it was recent.

achillestoes · 14/08/2022 16:12

You’re right @geojellyfish I suppose he’s out by now. Hopefully living a more lawful life.

He would have probably been out of prison by Chistmas 2014, what are you trying to achieve with this thread?

Sinasappel · 14/08/2022 16:30

@achillestoes

It's considered good manners on this board to check news stories seen on SM are legitimate/recent before posting.

Cailleach1 · 14/08/2022 16:36

It would be interesting to compare how such things would be dealt with now compared to 2014. Would the police even do a sting on that now, I wonder? Or, would the 'poor' chappie be excused on account of 'issues' he might claim to be dealing with? Would police sent the heavies around to anyone who reported any suspicion?

achillestoes · 14/08/2022 16:41

As I’ve said, I thought it was recent. Ignore and move on?

That was an awfully lenient sentence!!!!

Cailleach1 · 14/08/2022 16:44

Those recorded in the WiSpa showed some people excusing a male exposing themselves to minors. Indeed with disapproval of the brave woman who refused to look the other way at such a thing. Yet that person who allegedly exposed their genitals in the proximity of a child allegedly had priors; I presume from a time where it was not so 'du jour' among certain types of people to excuse a male exposing themselves to minors.

Georgeskitchen · 14/08/2022 17:05

It may have happened a few years ago but it still happened!!

iklboo · 14/08/2022 17:13

You seem to be insinuating that all Drag Queens are paedophiles. In fact, no. You're outright saying it. They are not.

achillestoes · 14/08/2022 17:17

@iklboo

No, I’m not. I’m saying I think drag is a sexualised form of self-expression. Not like being a pantomime dame.

How many drag queen peadophiles are acceptable to you?

AppleBottomRats · 14/08/2022 17:25

Interesting to consider the growth of drag queen story time since this case.

achillestoes · 14/08/2022 17:27

I’m trying to be both careful and honest about what I think. Here goes... I don’t think all drag queens are paedophiles. I think it’s part of what you might loosely call ‘queer’ culture. But that means it’s not what some people try to say it is: a form of children’s entertainment. It’s a performance of (typically) flamboyance linked to the expression of homosexuality. But because it is a form of sexual expression, I don’t think it should involve kids at all.

I guess for me it’s a question of whether drag is closer to something like ballet or to burlesque. Both are dancing, both involve costume. But I wouldn’t take my 6 year old to watch burlesque, because it’s designed to be risqué. Same with drag.

OP posts:
achillestoes · 14/08/2022 18:00

Now I wouldn’t be trying to suggest people doing burlesque are more likely than anyone else to be paedophiles. That would be silly. But if they wanted to go to my daughters’ school and do their act? Then I would say they were more likely. The appetite to perform a sexualised stereotype in front of children is a red flag.

I see everyone had realised. I am sorry for not having rtft.

Not that many of the discussions on the thread are any les relevant for being based on an old story.

I should think none.

I take it you are including Mira Hindley as
a paedophile, as the point made was about paedophiles.

From the ONS
Child sexual abuse in England and Wales: year ending March 2019

The majority of perpetrators of sexual abuse before the age of 16 years were males

Around 9 in 10 adults (92%) experienced sexual abuse committed by males only. A further 4% experienced sexual abuse committed by both males and females, and 4% experienced sexual abuse by females only

(I hope the ONS data is not based on statistics recording trans women abusers as female).

If people want something more current, a man called Brice Williams, a drag queen in Pennsylvania who has taken bookings to perform for children, has been charged with 25 counts of possession of child abuse imagery. That's in the last month or so
