It was obvious what it was referring to in this case so not sure what saying "swastikas never used to be Nazis" is doing.

The black stripe aligns perfectly with the spurs of the Nazi symbol. I can't unsee it now I've seen it. They could have just had the stripes as vertical stripes on the rainbow or added to the horizontal stripes of the rainbow.

I’m not defending displays of swastikas( I think displaying nazi symbols is illegal where I live although unclear whether this would clear the bar) but Harry didn’t display it. They clearly had nothing to arrest Laurence fox on, as being an objectionable person isn’t a criminal offence, although never seems to stop them when it’s women committing the alleged offence but arresting Harry miller was probably a mistake on their part!

Disappointed that people think this was funny or defended it.

I think it is a pretty grim thing for these men to do.

The police aren’t so much stretching things as going beyond oversplits and into full contortionist territory here.

When the Hate Crime legislation was being debated the House of Lords discussed the fact that wearing swastikas &/or “singing certain songs” could be used to evidence a crime was a Hate Crime. These indications are in the relevant CPS guidelines. That’s it for swastikas in English & Welsh Law.

It honestly sounds as if they’re trying to go for a public order offence - as I said, contortionism. Especially if you consider, with reference to the swastika, the HAD of Unexpected Reenactment Nazis parading through your town for funsies.

I know! So glad the not-so-secret police are there to arrest anyone who does something that upsets anyone! It’s distasteful of them to do that but not illegal in the UK. So yes, this sounds like police overstretch once more.

Satire isn’t illegal. Political criticism isn’t illegal. Causing someone to feel anxiety isn’t illegal.

Those flags, and the displays running the length of the high street, are a disgrace.

Ironic then that their satirical visual statement led to their arrest.
