I'd rather not have LF as a front for GC views, for record.

Just saying (not picking a fight)

VaggieMight · 01/08/2022 23:40

I'm no fan at all of LF or TC but ultimately gender ideology is such nonsense and affects so many area of life that other groups (free speech, conservative etc) are bound to highlight it too.

Andrew Doyle on GB News (gasp) mentioned the other day that Kemi Badenoch said that it's because of the work by leftist feminists that she's been able to challenge trans ideology at Westminster. Everyone needs to be talking about this regardless of their political leanings.

Maybe in a decade or so the left wing media will be covering the atrocities of experimental 'treatments' given to young people but we're a long way from that, unfortunately. And America is even more hostage to trans ideology than the U.K.

MangyInseam · 02/08/2022 00:43

Concern about gender ideology leading to medical malpractice isn't just GC viewpoint, really.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 02/08/2022 07:58

No its not mangy

and women’s safety in sports is a general’well that doesn’t make sense’ moment for a lot of people

GC seems to have changed in meaning when this all kicked off a few years ago it seemed to mean being critical of gender stereotypes and the damage they cause

thinking that its not possible to change sex, that people shouldn’t be pushed down a path of lifetime medication and surgery as step one and that self id has huge issues are not niche views

loads of people think those things

BlossomsOnATree · 02/08/2022 15:04

Absolutely. One of the weirdest things about all this is that this should be a concern for, most of all, the trans lobby itself. If "trans healthcare" (as they describe it) involves using drugs with known harmful side effects in an untested way and not following up experimental treatments to monitor outcomes, they should be furious that those kids they perceive as trans are being let down so badly, not granted the normal safety procedures and treated as guinea pigs.

Yes, and it speaks volumes that they're not.

BlossomsOnATree · 02/08/2022 15:09

Re "gender critical", I think it's unfortunately easy to misrepresent it to transactivists and woo types as meaning "critical of" (i.e. hateful towards) "gender" (meaning "genderqueer", gender nonconformity of any kind, or LGBTQA+++ in general).

Of course that's not what it means and anyone with the remotest capacity for analytical thought would wonder why large numbers of GC people are themselves lesbian, gay and/or GNC feminists.

IcakethereforeIam · 02/08/2022 15:13

I think it's numbers, they want as many transpeople as possible as a lobby both directly and indirectly via families and friends. The individuals don't matter, it's the numbers.

nauticant · 02/08/2022 18:00

Sometimes the numbers need to be very large, and sometimes the numbers need to be very small. It depends on what suits the argument.

For some reason it brings to mind Father Dougal and the small or far away conundrum.

Has anyone tried reporting anti-women tweets/FB posts to the police? I find those offensive. Do they qualify as hate incidents? I'm guessing not, as the College of Police guidance left out sex when it defined hate crimes/incidents.

Facebook themselves deem them ok I reported a comment about sen children how they shouldn't be treated for covid as they are not productive members of society (not put like that but im not going to repeat what was said) I commented "your nasty" guess who got banned for bullying and threats? Me, just me, as far as I know their comment still stands mine was deleted for harassment

From LBC

Previously, people accused of racism, sexism, misogyny and transphobia in Hampshire would have been offered a two-hour educational session instead of prosecution

There is no way to prosecute people for sexism or misogyny. This is not about women.

yourhairiswinterfire · 08/08/2022 12:07

How is it legal to charge wrongthinkers £80 to attend a re-education class to 'avoid prosecution' for something that they couldn't actually be prosecuted for anyway?

Scamming twats.

KatVonlabonk · 08/08/2022 12:26

I can't believe they thought that was a good idea. Rainbow addled idiots

I dont think for 1 second Harry or Lawrence's first thought is womens causes, rights or concerns. They are as many man are out to promote and serve men. That said if women get their voices heard via Harry & Lawrence's platform I will accept that as sometimes you "have to dance with the Devil" as my nan would say.

antelopevalley · 08/08/2022 22:34

Why would dancing with a misogynistic man help feminism?

Thelnebriati · 08/08/2022 22:39

They aren't helping feminism; try to take a step back and look at the wider picture. Other people are also affected by what's happening. We benefit indirectly from situations like this.

antelopevalley · 08/08/2022 22:46

We really do not. Gender-critical feminism is now firmly associated with the extreme right-wing.

Faffertea · 08/08/2022 22:55

It really isn’t.

Except by those who would like to make it true because it’s an easy way to try and shut down discussion and discredit people.
“Don’t believe them don’t you know they’re right wing bigots?”
