LOJ and monkeypox. Knows what a man is

So LOJ has finally decided that men who have sex with men ARE more at risk of contracting monkeypox after all. And he wants them to know this so that they can all go and get vaccinated. Strangely, he is not using inclusive language at all. He only mentions men. There are transwomen at risk in exactly the same way but no mention of the women who sleep with men who sleep with men. Now that men are affected he is well aware that clear language is necessary for health campaigns.

Also, on another note, he doesn’t want men to stop having sex with multiple strangers. That’s fine despite the known risks. Can’t expect a man to take responsibility for his own health over servicing his raging libido.

LOJ??

Little Owen Jones. He has an affectionate nickname on here.

Didn't he slate LGB alliance when they made the same point, that monkeypox is disproportionately impacting gay men.

PronounssheRa · 26/07/2022 19:40

Ah yes, he 'lol'd about it being taken down as medical misinformation.

LOJ and monkeypox. Knows what a man is
Rainbowshit · 26/07/2022 19:42

He's such a fucking hypocrite. So is Ben Cohen of pink news for the attacks on LGBA who were trying to get this message across to gay men much earlier. They are absolutely disgusting and should take some responsibility for the delays in action being taken.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/07/2022 19:52

May, and it's now toward the end of July. Should be called little slow J. At least he's pitching in now. Reminds me of that story about Boris Johnson, looks which way the crowd is going then runs to the front and shouts "follow me!".

The actual brass neck of him, to continue sanctimoniously lecture others on twatter, on this actual issue, when the receipts are RIGHT THERE Shock

nocoolnamesleft · 26/07/2022 19:58

Shouldn't this be penis havers who have sex with penis havers?

mrshoho · 26/07/2022 20:02

What a twit.

Signalbox · 26/07/2022 20:05

I'm really enjoying this. OJ is getting so annoyed that people are saying that it's homophobic to say that men who have sex with men are most at risk from Monkey pox. OJ is saying that it's just a fact that men who have sex with men are most at risk and that it would actually be homophobic if gay men were not prioritised for vaccination. Thing is he probably has a really high percentage of reality deniers following him who are more concerned about portraying themselves as victims at every possible opportunity and this is too good an opportunity to miss. There's so much hypocrisy in these tweets.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 26/07/2022 20:08

So LOJ doesn’t think trans men are men then? That’s really going to piss off that pair who wanted everyone to stop writing for the Guardian because transphobia.

achillestoes · 26/07/2022 20:12

So if we start by saying adversity doesn’t affect groups in a symmetrical way, and transmen must be the most affected people susceptible to monkeypox, since they are marginalised in every way imaginable and therefore the implications for them will be multiples of the implications for the ‘cis’ men OJ is focusing on, and won’t he please check his privilege?

123Callie · 26/07/2022 20:17

I’m more concerned about transwomen as many will be having sex with men who also sleep with men or other transwomen. They are being systematically excluded from this messaging.

Penis havers and other men who have sex with penis havers would be far more accurate and inclusive.

I had spotted similar in an article in the New Yorker.

"The C.D.C. uses the term “men who have sex with men,” a definition that could contribute to missed diagnoses, given that trans men, trans women, and non-binary folks often share the same social and sexual networks."

That said Monkeypox sounds nasty. People who are men who have sex with men, and who can be presumed to be high risk, are well advised to be insistent about getting medical help.

I don't know if the link will work.

mrshoho · 26/07/2022 20:20

Surely he should be pressing the point that transwomen who have sex with other transwomen and/or men are also at risk?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/07/2022 20:26

Malcolm Clark (@ TwisterFilm on Twitter), gay man, LGBA founder (I think), documentary maker, brilliant communicator, has been excellent on this.

Based on what do you think OJ doesn’t think trans men are men?

Gay trans men are at risk of monkeypox just as gay cis men are.

Didn't he slate LGB alliance when they made the same point, that monkeypox is disproportionately impacting gay men.

The reason LGB Alliance were ridiculed was not because they were pointing out the higher risks for gay men but because they were calling for gay venues to be closed.

nocoolnamesleft · 26/07/2022 19:58

Shouldn't this be penis havers who have sex with penis havers?

No. Because the risk of getting monkeypox has nothing to do with whether someone has a penis or not.

The risk has zero to do with what genitals someone has.

The risk is to do with behaviour and networks.

The risk has zero to do with what genitals someone has.

The risk is to do with behaviour and networks.

And is there any correlation between the behaviour and networks, and what genitals someone has?

poorbuthappy · 26/07/2022 21:09

Apparently not. I wonder what on earth it could be.

yourhairiswinterfire · 26/07/2022 21:13

All commercial sex venues.

And OJ 'lol'd' because their tweet was taken down for ''medical disinformation''. Saying you think all commercial sex venues should be closed is an opinion, not 'disinformation', so it's unlikely he was referring to that bit.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 26/07/2022 21:14

Promiscuous penis people are more at risk. Nice clear inclusive messaging.

hatedbythedailymail22 · 26/07/2022 21:08

Well most people with penises don’t engage in the sort of activities (gay saunas, dark rooms and hook up sites*) that pose the particular risk for gay men, so no.
