If you have a Conservative MP and want to protect the rights of women and safeguard children please email them TONIGHT and ask them to support Kemi.

Penny Mordaunt still the bookies favourite (and they aren't often wrong) but we need to let everyone know how dangerous it will be for this woman to become PM; I don't believe she has changed her mind for one moment.

Yawn. Again, this is tedious. We all know what males and females are. We all know how reproduction takes place. My female body developed in the way it did because my genes programmed it to do so. And that was decided at conception. Bore off.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 14/07/2022 21:27

I dunno achilles

there seem to be an awful lot of people who don’t understand what male and female are

why they don’t understand is the ‘interesting’ point….or not 🤔

achillestoes · 14/07/2022 21:30

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer

They understand fine. I bet they know who is male when it comes to who to have sex with, and who to interrupt in meetings.

I know it is utterly tedious isn't it.
There was a poster not so long ago suggesting that to be female one had to not have male genes (presumably XY) and be able to give birth.

What utter tosh.

Do you genetically sequence someone before having sex? How else can you be sure they don't have XY chromosomes?

achillestoes · 14/07/2022 21:42

@jgw1

Yes, yes I always do.

jgw1 · 14/07/2022 21:46

achillestoes · 14/07/2022 21:42

@jgw1

Yes, yes I always do.

Which cells do you choose to sequence @achillestoes? Because we all know that different cells within our bodies will quite likely contain different genes and in some cases different chromosomes.

BTW if a female is someone who has only XX chromosomes, does that mean that males are everyone else?

achillestoes · 14/07/2022 21:49

@jgw1

All. And when I have finished with my mate, I absorb his genetic material.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 14/07/2022 21:50

Tedious is definitely a good word…

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 14/07/2022 21:51

And following achilles last post I’m adding ‘gross’ to my list of good words

@achillestoes you sequence all cells?

achillestoes · 14/07/2022 21:52

@jgw1

All surviving cells.

Outside is an anagram of tedious. Somehow it seems relevant.

achillestoes · 14/07/2022 21:53

I’m going to stop before I get told off for being a troll with XX chromosomes.

jgw1 · 14/07/2022 21:53

achillestoes · 14/07/2022 21:52

@jgw1

All surviving cells.

I wasn't aware of a DNA sequencing technique in which cells survive, is it very new to science?

@achillestoes By very old do you mean more than 50 years old?

Yes, yes I always do.

I’ve got a mobile sequencer in my garage. Fun for all the family 😂😂

antifascist · 14/07/2022 20:40

Are you really claiming there's nothing a Prime Minister can do about the cost of Living.

How about

Subsidise transport like they've done in Germany and Spain

Rent control

Price control

Decent wage increases

There are some things a government may be able to do to mitigate the effects. But the current issues aren't mainly national, they are international.

Specific mitigations like you suggest tend to be limited in their effectiveness, or have downsides associated with them.

None of the candidates are likely to be able to offer up much that will really tackle the issue at its root. So their answers may seem like faffing around and voters will find them unsatisfying.

Conflictedunicorn · 15/07/2022 05:16

@antifascist are you saying the government should control rent, private transport firms and tell private businesses to increase wages and lower prices? Wouldn’t that be fascist of them? Are you advocating for fascism now? How exactly can a government compel businesses to lower prices and increase wages if those businesses are not owned by the government.

Igneococcus · 15/07/2022 06:42

I’ve got a mobile sequencer in my garage.

You could get one of those wee Nanopore sequencers, like a Minion or a Flongle. They fit on the desk, next to the computer, very handy, frees up the garage.

Ooh Thankyou. Wonder if they have handbag sized ones, just for sequencing on the go. You never know when you may need it.

Igneococcus · 15/07/2022 07:12

A Flongle will fit into a handbag no problem, along with a powerbank, and you are ready to go.
