If you have a Conservative MP and want to protect the rights of women and safeguard children please email them TONIGHT and ask them to support Kemi.

Penny Mordaunt still the bookies favourite (and they aren't often wrong) but we need to let everyone know how dangerous it will be for this woman to become PM; I don't believe she has changed her mind for one moment.

But apparently she knows what a woman is, so that's alright.
What is not clear to me is whether she knows this through similar lived experiences to Boris or not.

Are you asking if she is a serial shagger? That seems like it's probably none of our business.

If the reason that Boris knows what a woman is because he is a serial shagger, then I suppose that is what I am asking.

I find going down the whole variations of sexual development exceptionally distasteful on a website for mums as some women with a VSD will be infertile and some babies may have disabilities or unable to survive.

This is how medicine sees the "etc." they are REALLY very rare and not part of this discussion.

Someone who is XY sry is completely unable to ever "masculinise" their body by taking testosterone. So is seen as a woman. And the condition that the TRAs like to appropriate.

And I really hope no one gets dragged into the batshit and disgusting debate that exulansic et Al tried to generate.

So according to this graphic it is possible to have the same karyotype as another, and for one person to be male and the other female. Wow.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 15/07/2022 17:42

So this is a now long and in part extremely boring thread

but are there honestly swathes of posters declaring they are former left wing feminists but are with kemi all the way?

im not going through and counting cos ive honestly lost the will to live

MangyInseam · 15/07/2022 17:51

I got the sense that there were mixed feeling about her.

It's also a matter of context, no one is comparing her to everyone, only to the other candidates, and maybe only to the ones who could possibly win.

I think maybe I would choose Sunak out of the group, I am only hesitant about Truss because I am not sure she is quite so competent. KB might be the smartest of all of them though, whatever you think of her politics. I do that that counts for something in a PM.

I remember years ago really hating a particular conservative Canadian PM, Stephen Harper, and then later when we got Trudeau, I thought, well at least Harper wasn't actually stupid.

Faffertea · 15/07/2022 17:58

I take your point @MarshaBradyo about it keeping things open if there are more candidates and that helping to shape debate. I’d never come across Kemi Badenoch before so it’s interesting to see how much she’s put the wind up some of the more senior MPs for someone who has been a junior minister until now. Makes me wonder if she is perceived as a real contender for PM.

I’ll be watching the TV debates with interest.

WarriorN · 15/07/2022 17:59

I would like to see her voting record and what her "fresh ideas" (everyone is talking about) actually are.

WarriorN · 15/07/2022 18:00

Gove backs her, no idea if that's significant but he's been around longer than some of the others up for leadership.

MangyInseam · 15/07/2022 18:03

I'd have thought a contender next time, which might be better for her anyway.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 18:53

‘but are there honestly swathes of posters declaring they are former left wing feminists but are with kemi all the way?’

I’m a feminist who previously identified as left wing AND I’m with her. What we called ‘feminism’ and ‘left wing’ politics have been hijacked. They won’t work properly until society bins the identity politics, and she is working on that so yes, I want her to win.

beastlyslumber · 15/07/2022 18:57

Scrapping the online safety bill is a great idea - it's a big threat to freedom of speech. So I'm on Kemi's side with that.

I like Kemi a lot. I think she's a very smart politician. I do not like Mordor because she is obviously a twaw mouthpiece which makes me think she has zero integrity. I might not agree with Kemi on everything but I think she has integrity.

Also I think it's interesting that the left are pushing this idea that Kemi can't be PM because she's a black woman. Apparently it would be "bad for diversity". It's good that she's showing up their racism, I guess. Go Kemi!

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 19:00

‘Also I think it's interesting that the left are pushing this idea that Kemi can't be PM because she's a black woman. Apparently it would be "bad for diversity".’

I just read a very manipulative article that suggested that Kemi ‘doesn’t count’ as making politics more diverse. Or, more accurately, she does, but she isn’t useful, because diversity isn’t an end in itself (that was a surprise to me - I thought it was important!), and rather what is important is the change diversity should bring about (it should enshrine left wing politics in perpetuity, basically). And Kemi, because she’s from a society so influenced by racial and colonialist politics, isn’t useful to that end.

In other words, it doesn’t matter that British society isn’t actually racist, if it’s still even moderately conservative.

EmileFord · 15/07/2022 19:40

Thank you achilliestoes I've found the whole interview since. PM sounds reasonable, but I still don't trust her!

This is the identarian left version of replacement theory - we want more diversity because diverse people vote a certain way.

Good tyo see @achillestoes is backing the right wing caandidate and lying about the left again

Where’s the lie?

Can we not ignore posters like on some forums, or mute them?

I’m still finding my way on here, but I’ve found it best to just clock the name of the poster you want to ignore, and scroll past their ‘contributions’. It’s a technique finely honed on another forum. I had my first deletion on this very thread, I shall consider it a rite of passage and treasure it fondly 🥰

I proposed rent and price controls you dismissed that as fascist- showing your profound ignorance- or that you have been hanging out on extreme right wing sites for too long

Rent and price controls were the policy of Conservative and Labour governments at least until the 198'0's and remain policy in most of Europe. So don't call me a fascist just because you have no knowledge of history or policy

And who would implement and control these measures? Would that be the er… government? So you’d want a fascist state controlling everything? Or are you unclear as to what you’re saying you want? You want more government control over people’s lives, and businesses?

WarriorN · 15/07/2022 21:21

This concerns me a tad; I'd like to know her position. (From Ch 4 news)

"Four of the five candidates for the Conservative Party leadership committed to maintaining the government’s goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
The only one not to have done so yet is Kemi Badenoch. The move follows a warning from International Environment Minister Lord Zac Goldsmith who said that the leadership contenders needed to be more serious about climate promises or the party will face dire electoral consequences.
His warning came as temperatures continued to soar across Europe with Portugal reaching a record for July – hitting 47 degrees."

Being a left winger and picking a horse to back in a Tory leadership race is always a strange business. It’s sort of about harm reduction.

I guess you are either a troll or a visitor from a far right libertarian website. Anyway I'm not going to engage with you anymore.

Floisme · 15/07/2022 21:28

Woah, can we just go back a couple of posts? I'm normally quite happy with a rough and tumble kind of thread but that's a bit much antifascist.
Achilles asked you to back up that accusation. Are you going to?
