If you have a Conservative MP and want to protect the rights of women and safeguard children please email them TONIGHT and ask them to support Kemi.

Penny Mordaunt still the bookies favourite (and they aren't often wrong) but we need to let everyone know how dangerous it will be for this woman to become PM; I don't believe she has changed her mind for one moment.

@Blossomtoes

Yes, but it shows not all Tory voters want the rich to get richer. I’d say it’s almost the opposite.

😂 OK.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:45

@Blossomtoes

It is with working class Tory voters. They want to be better off, so they vote for what they believe will be a low tax party. It’s not rocket science.

It’s not any kind of science. Plain bonkers is what that reasoning is but you carry on. I can’t be arsed to reason with someone who judges politicians on their looks and thinks Johnson’s a liberal who performed well at PMQ.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:49

@Blossomtoes

Johnson is a liberal. It’s a matter of record.

Why do you think so many working class people vote Tory, then?

antifascist · 15/07/2022 10:50

rent and price controls have been policies of the Conservative and Labour governments in the U.K. and Conservative governments throughout Europe.

the government can pass laws or issue statutory instruments .

it’s not difficult.

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/07/2022 10:51

No, I’d never heard of her a week or two ago.
I’ve listened since then and don’t like most of what she says at all.
this whole thing is a dreadful race to the bottom.

Floisme · 15/07/2022 10:55

Is it Starmer who wants to pull out of the ECHR?
Who is it that is messing with your rights?

If you're going to pick up on my posts you could at least do me the courtesy of noting that not once have I said I plan to vote Tory. All I am asking of Labour is that they leave women's rights alone, and the fact that some posters seem to think this is an unreasonable demand is a perfect demonstration of how the left lost my support.

@jgw1 do you disagree with Prof Winston then that our sex is coded into our every cell? Robert Winston: Trans surgery is mutilation

Why would I disagree with him?

All I have been trying and failing to establish is what is meant by a man and a woman. It seems that it is a surprisingly hard question to answer.

WarriorN · 15/07/2022 10:39

How are you going to test an embryos DNA if not through amniocentesis?

Sorry to return to this; @jqw1 most of the nhs now does Non Invasive Prenatal Tests which is a blood test that can be done as early as 8 weeks gestation if I remember correctly (mine is now 4.)

The NIPT test is a blood test in your arm which picks up fragments of the embryo's dna which can be analysed to check for a range of genetic anomalies; including xxy, xxx, and would highlight a range of dsds (some of which can cause severe disabilities including being unable to survive outside of the womb and heart conditions.)

So I knew I was having a male child at around 9 weeks.

So we are defining male as XY and female as XX?

Most of the feminists posters seem to be left wing to me

Which is probably an indication of your position on the political spectrum. Does the fact that there’s such eulogising here over the hardest right candidate left in the race not tell you something?

Nope

The vast vast amount of self declared feminists on FWR...not necessarily on this thread... are on the left and are very upset that they feel politically homeless and that they feel that labour haven't stepped up

It's on thread after thread after thread...

You'd also have to be fairly hard of thinking to think that a comment regarding someone else's declared political leanings says anything whatsoever about mine

RufusthefIoraImissingreindeer · 15/07/2022 11:19

Someone said the other day that feminism is always on the left as it deals with the oppression of a class of people

No idea if it's true per se...but I thought it was interesting

Floisme · 15/07/2022 11:23

There are certainly a lot of feminists on this board who are very angry with the left. And, as I've said already, a party hoping to overturn a 70+ majority in a single election would do well to take note instead of ignoring their requests to talk, and refusing them a stand at their conference.

LK1972 · 15/07/2022 11:24

@jgw1 is the lack of Y chromosome not good enough to define female, as in adult human female, aka woman?

In all cells or just some?

MarshaBradyo · 15/07/2022 11:26

Why are the embryo questions ignored and we get stuck with same lines again

LK1972 · 15/07/2022 11:28

@jgw1 what are you after, residual Y in mothers of boys or mosaicism? Please tell which cells have Y chromosomes in women?

Agreed Floisme. I want to vote labour in the next election and can't believe we have to watch all this going on in the tories because the trans extremists have taken power with their "no such thing as a woman" drivel and "you're a bigot if you dare speak the truth and we'll hound you out of the party..

LK1972 · 15/07/2022 11:28

I'm after an answer to what a man and a woman are, that is all, apparently it is not complicated.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 11:39

‘Someone said the other day that feminism is always on the left as it deals with the oppression of a class of people’

This ill-defines both feminism and the left. Left wing politics isn’t about ‘the oppression of a class of people’. The rich were oppressed during the French Revolution (murdered by a mob). That doesn’t make them left wing.

Feminism is about the oppression of women. Rich women, poor women, white women, black women. Just women, for being women.

Left wing politics is about economic power. Namely, more power is held by people with more money, and money is appropriated by people who do less work from people who do more work.

Floisme · 15/07/2022 11:40

It's interesting how many people seem to think overturning this majority is such a doddle that they can afford to sneer at voters who've supported Labour all their lives.

LK1972 · 15/07/2022 11:46

@jgw1 I've given you a definition- no Y chromosome-you suggest it's not helpful, can you expand?

MarshaBradyo · 15/07/2022 11:49

Sneering seems to be the default tone of the left these days

They won’t care about votes just that it’s done from a place of self appointed superiority - for some unbeknownst reason. It has ramped up in last few years and is very off putting.
