If you have a Conservative MP and want to protect the rights of women and safeguard children please email them TONIGHT and ask them to support Kemi.

Penny Mordaunt still the bookies favourite (and they aren't often wrong) but we need to let everyone know how dangerous it will be for this woman to become PM; I don't believe she has changed her mind for one moment.

These threads have been very illuminating to me, I had no idea feminism had moved so far to the right

Most of the feminists posters seem to be left wing to me...they certainly haven't moved further to the right

Unless you are doing that 'someone criticised a labour policy/starmer and that means they are right wing' thing...in which case I see what you mean

(Obviously pe

I think it’s the women’s rights thing

TWAW is ok but anything else they get all ultra about

madness

There also remains the small matter of the government still having a majority of close to 80 seats. Overturning that in a single parliament is a massive task. Starmer will have to work for every vote he can get and he won't get mine unless he promises not to mess with my rights.

Is it Starmer who wants to pull out of the ECHR?
Who is it that is messing with your rights?

Blossomtoes · 15/07/2022 10:02

Which is probably an indication of your position on the political spectrum. Does the fact that there’s such eulogising here over the hardest right candidate left in the race not tell you something?

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:04

My understanding of where I stand in politics has moved to the right. I was very left wing but I had no idea how hard the activist community on the left had embraced anti-science and quasi-legal post-modernist rubbish. Like many people who vote Tory, I do actually believe in economic redistribution. I used to think that made me left wing. Clearly it no longer does.

MarshaBradyo · 15/07/2022 10:09

When you get to the stage posters are arguing TWAW at the same time telling women they are not then the left has lost reason

I don’t know if I’d back Badenoch against the others, I need to hear more re her policies

Blossomtoes · 15/07/2022 10:09

Like many people who vote Tory, I do actually believe in economic redistribution

The only economic distribution Tories believe in is from the bottom to the top. A reverse Robin Hood. I can’t take you seriously.

The anti-science and evidence thing is amazing isn't it.
There was a poster seemingly arguing earlier in this thread that each of our cells has the same DNA in it.

@Blossomtoes I think you are being unfair. I can imagine that some Tories perhaps Kenneth Clarke do believe in the redistribution of wealth from the wealthy to those less well off, without the intervention of the state.
The trouble is that the Tory party has been taken over by those who believe in the redistribution of wealth by the state from the poor to the rich.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:16

@Blossomtoes

That really isn’t true. Working class Tory voters often believe in left wing economic policies, hence their demands at the moment for price caps on energy and other help with the cost of living.

In which case they had best hold off voting Tory until the Tories in parliament actually reflect their views and put such views into action.

MarshaBradyo · 15/07/2022 10:18

Not so much amazing - more very concerning when it comes from the left who will use it to underpin law

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:18

@jgw1

And there was you arguing there’s no such thing as male and female, as if two people with XX chromosomes could make a baby. Anti-science, it’s not for me.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:19

@jgw1

No, because they tend not to believe in high taxes to pay for the services they want. That’s also true of people on the left, who want low taxes and high service levels as well.

@achillestoes I'd be awfully grateful if you could quote a post where I said any such thing.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:25

@jgw1

So you deny this? You understand that some people are male and some are female, and this can’t change?

What do you mean by male?

Working class Tories believe in Santa then. 🎅 That Ken Clarke gave me sixpence. Cor blimey guvnor , you're a toff and no mistake!

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:34

@jgw1

We’ve been through this elsewhere. You and people like you are the reason I won’t vote with the left. You’ve lost the plot.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:35

@Abhannmor

They do, though. That’s how you explain the Johnson electoral coalition. Johnson was actually relatively left wing and liberal.

@achillestoes You are correct, there were some attempts to state what was meant by male and female. Unfortunately they had holes a similar size to Boris' oven ready Brexit.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:38

@jgw1

So what is your definition of male?

It’s so bad. How did the left come to this

WarriorN · 15/07/2022 10:39

How are you going to test an embryos DNA if not through amniocentesis?

Sorry to return to this; @jqw1 most of the nhs now does Non Invasive Prenatal Tests which is a blood test that can be done as early as 8 weeks gestation if I remember correctly (mine is now 4.)

The NIPT test is a blood test in your arm which picks up fragments of the embryo's dna which can be analysed to check for a range of genetic anomalies; including xxy, xxx, and would highlight a range of dsds (some of which can cause severe disabilities including being unable to survive outside of the womb and heart conditions.)

So I knew I was having a male child at around 9 weeks.

Blossomtoes · 15/07/2022 10:40

Johnson was actually relatively left wing and liberal

Relatively being the operative word. They kicked him out, remember? And put up a range of predominately hard right candidates to replace him.

achillestoes · 15/07/2022 10:41

@MarshaBradyo

I don’t know. I looked up one day and they’d all gone mad.
