Fuck no!

People can say what they like about BJ, but at least he was enough of a libertarian to not make a ‘think crime’ out of believing that women are adult human females.

BaronessWrongCrowdRex · 08/07/2022 06:11

Penny Mordaunt would be the absolute worst for women. I hope lots of the Conservative party members see that video. Stop her from becoming PM.

achillestoes · 08/07/2022 06:19

BJ listened to women and he stood up for kids (for all his sins).

NashvilleQueen · 08/07/2022 06:29

This needs to be widely circulated when she throws her name into the hat

OldCrone · 08/07/2022 07:37

Why is she so scared? Her voice is shaky and she sounds uncertain. She has a worried look on her face. Contrast this with any of the other videos of her speeches on YouTube, where she appears confident and seems to believe in what she's saying.

achillestoes · 08/07/2022 07:38

‘Great care has been taken to lie in this legislation, which I hope you will support.’

Get out, Penny.

sashagabadon · 08/07/2022 07:39

I agree. Mordant would be a terrible PM.

MarshaBradyo · 08/07/2022 07:41

I agree but why is she so popular in polls?

Genuinely wondering what it is she’s standing for those people like

achillestoes · 08/07/2022 07:42

She’s popular because they think she can get some lefty votes, and because she’s polished and very credible.

McDuffy · 08/07/2022 07:43

I saw on Twitter that her brother is/was in a relationship with a well known TRA actor, if true could explain her views

Because she was a Brexiteer - seems to be of overriding importance to Tory party members.

MarshaBradyo · 08/07/2022 07:55

I hope Wallace stands as he’s more popular

Or rather her feeling that she has to lie. She doesn't believe TWAW. If she did, she'd be proclaiming it confidently, not tentatively, while looking and sounding like a hostage.

Thingybob · 08/07/2022 08:13

I was listening to Talk Radio yesterday afternoon and a caller said how Penny Morduant was his choice for the next PM. The reasons he gave included "and she knows what a woman is, unlike that Labour lot" Hopefully that video does get circulated far and wide so people like that caller can see what an idiot she is.

eurochick · 08/07/2022 08:24

The Times is carrying a summary of the possible candidates today and mentions her TWAW stance and that it is not likely to go down well.

Signalbox · 08/07/2022 08:26

Surely her having spouted this nonsense will be her undoing if she were to stand for leader? The press would be all over it. Women have been knocked out of leadership contests for far less. I remember Andrea Leadsom pulled out of the leadership race after saying that being a mother would make her a better PM. Mordaunt will have to answer questions on whether or not she will U turn on self ID and the conversion therapy bill. Plus she won't be able to answer the question "what is a woman"?

Who will replace Boris Johnson and be the next prime minister?

So sick of these women who themselves must have overcome so many barriers to enter politics and know themselves how they have to work twice as hard and be twice as good to be considered even half as competent as their male counterparts and theb they spout crap like this. Its so fucking dishonest. And one day she will wake up and discover that all the women in the room are male. Women who wont have babies or need somewhere to pump, or work whilst going through menopause and all that brings.

She is nothing more than a turkey voting for Christmas. These women are their own worst enemies. Only where they are because of all the brave women who fought so hard befire her.

Anyone who believes twaw should be made to hand over their bank card, be unable to vote, own property or be employed. Maybe then they will realise that its not and will ever be the same. That her rights are only there fir as long as men allow her to have them.

Shes clearly far to stupid to realise shes the sacrificial lamb and there will be another man quick to jump in the second she loses all credibility with stunts like this.

KatVonlabonk · 08/07/2022 08:45

She met with Sharron D and Tanni GT over this recently. I think she may be feeling her way back to reality.

LarryBlackmonsCodpiece · 08/07/2022 08:54

Hopefully Conservatives For Women are working hard behind the scenes to ensure we end up with someone who’s a bit more aligned with us.

It's going to be an interesting leadership contest if she does stand, because as Signalbox says, she will be grilled on it in interviews and (if she stands by it) repeatedly asked to justify the claim.

I'm always there for that, as I find it such a patently absurd statement myself. Always fascinated to see what people actually mean when they say it and how far the belief goes. Any exceptions for sports or prisons? Hospital wards? Bring on the sunlight - let's find out if there are caveats for these true believers, and what they are.

I'm also pretty sure it'll be her barrier to getting the job, so an interesting test of her belief in that sense too. Let's see if she suddenly decides 'it's complicated' now parroting the mantra might have a personal cost.

onedayiwillmissthis · 08/07/2022 09:03

Tanni GT is Chair of UKActive who do not appear to support protecting female spaces.

McDuffy · 08/07/2022 09:12

I had the idea that Tanni GT was GC but can't remember why.

Queenoftheashes · 08/07/2022 09:16

Looking at the times article, it sounds like PM has pissed off a couple of factions of the party so unlikely to get anywhere

She has spoken in the House of Lords about single-sex spaces

hansard.parliament.uk//Lords/2020-02-24/debates/D9459D1B-FADF-4765-AB3F-F55D4B322060/details#contribution-9283079F-4DE5-48A3-832F-CBA3514B1ACD

Some excerpts:

There is a reason that the UN, WaterAid and other organisations have called for single-sex spaces. Social convention is there to safeguard women and girls to prevent harm. Eroding social convention will make it harder to maintain these boundaries.

If there is somebody in an accessible toilet who needs to be in there for a long period of time, the only other option I have is to use the women’s toilet. In that instance, I have to go with the door open.

It's worth reading her whole speech. She is very much in favour of single-sex spaces for women and girls.
