they need 8 (I think) nominations to be “on the ballot”. Deadline will likely be in a few days. Then there is a secret vote for all the Tory MPs. There will be many rounds where the dozen or so contenders are whittled down to 2. Then finally the last two go to the Tory members. Last time round the members vote didn’t happen because Andrea Leadsom pulled out and let TM be PM.

ChristinaXYZ posted this spreadsheet link earlier - I'm not sure how often it's updated over the weekend, but apparently Sunak, Truss, Braverman, Zahawi, Hunt, and Badenoch are past the 8-nomination threshhold. Mordaunt has 7, Tugendhat 6, Javid 3, and Shapps 1.

Mordaunt is the only one on the baord who hasn't formally declared candidacy, although they have until EOD Monday to do it. Wallace has withdrawn.

@Thingybob ·I was listening to Talk Radio yesterday afternoon and a caller said how Penny Morduant was his choice for the next PM. The reasons he gave included "and she knows what a woman is, unlike that Labour lot" Hopefully that video does get circulated far and wide so people like that caller can see what an idiot she is.

That caller could be a plant and his idiotic remark was to obfuscate Mordant's pro-trans position. I wouldn't put anything pass TRAs to get someone who supports them installed as PM. It's very odd the caller said that particular statement, a statement that would directly appeal to anyone who is GC.

Its funny how my memory plays tricks with me. I was sure she was an absolute arse to women about this issues here on a webchat a couple of years ago. It turns out she's been leading the whole GC movement all along.

She'd give Stella Creasy a run for her money. She's smart though, I'll give her that. Her language is very carefully chosen.

The two questions all commentators should ask on this issue. Are trans women women? Do you support self id? I suspect she'd answer yes and yes.

Ms Mordaunt would get my vote for this savaging of Blackford.

Bloody hell funny how this issue is suddenly top of everyone’s agenda. They must’ve had so many letters from constituents. The idea that this doesn’t come up on the doorstep is bullshit. I’m not sure I believe PM unless she is very clear about what she will rule out self-id and the conversion therapy ban and also it’d be nice to know exactly what she intends to do to protect the free speech of women who don’t share her view that TWAW.
