JK and the Manx flag

I'm a huge fan of Jo and I'm far along the GC Road. But can anyone explain what the hell is going on with her thirder Twitter comments and her use of the Manx flag. I'm Manx myself and I'm not entirely OK with it, not least because it's not helping the GC argument at all here.

The world is mad. That is all. As far as I can tell, bindel and Rowling and the other ladies what lunched had a bit of a twitter chat and a laugh. I think there was some sort of in joke and she used the flag and twitterverse took it all oh so seriously. Nothing at all to do with IOM... A silly throw away comment but she's the devil incarnate so she can't do that.

Now the residents of IOM are up in arms. 🤦🏻

I haven't done an exhaustive search, this is all I can find. There is no context for the tweets exchanged between Julie Bindle and JKR and I couldn't see the tweet on her Twitter feed. No idea what any of it means.

I’m genuinely confused. What is meant by ‘thirder’?

We get lots of these threads where OP makes reference to something they don't quite understand from Twitter. Maybe ask there? (I don't actually know if that's possible as I don't go there much)

There was a whole bit of Twitter craic between them yesterday relating to the lunch she dared to host. I presume it's an in joke. Rather than public mocking the Isle of Man or whatever

It appears to be an in-joke between the two of them. The last time I looked this was allowed. I’ll have a chat with my sister who lives on the IoM and see if she’s outraged

I think there may have been a joke with Bindel about her being a third lesbian, or I may have imagined that and I still don't understand the use of our flag.
But it's all over the Manx media and not in a good way.

Unfortunately you can't use a country's flag and claim it is nothing to do with said flag.

She was called a thirder I assume as others said in a 3rd lesbian of the group way and linked a pic of the flag as those from IOM are known as thirders. How is that using the flag negatively?

You can. I mean whether or not you cause offence is a different matter but her in joke, was clearly not about IOM.

People could also choose to ignore it or shrug it off thinking perhaps this was a ill thought out 'joke' between friends but then I guess the they'd miss out on all the fun of frothing at the mouth and chanting burn the witch (and some making money out of a non story). 🤷

i dont think bindel did herself any favours taking the piss out of both the LGBT+ community, or C-PTSD to be honest.. her posts were much worse than Rowlings.
