JKR and more bomb threats

JKR posted on Twitter that a user of another account posted her address, a picture of a pipe bomb and a handbook for making bombs.

If you are defending these people, you are defending terrorism now. It’s incredible how low they will go and still try to claim the moral high ground (although I suppose that’s space and they can’t really help thinking they should have all the space?).

"JKR knows that her supporters are not violent"

Has she personally vetted and had each of her 13.9M followers DBS checked?

I have seen comments on her Twitter post from supporters encouraging others to do things such as approaching the accused in person.

I actually was on the OJ thread suggesting that he should contact police rather than setting all his followers after a woman and have them threaten to get her sacked. That was a more obvious case of "someone got hacked" than this is though. And as far as I remember although abusive, wasn't death threats.

You’re determined to make JKR the bad guy aren’t you. No sympathy for her at all. No condemnation apart from ‘obviously this is wrong but’. It’s the but that’s does it. You are excusing someone making bomb threats. Do you think that person checked that none of their followers were not violent?

I had to read that twice to see if you were putting the responsibility on JK for 15m other people. It still didn’t make sense and I thought maybe you were going for irony, and then I checked who the poster was and realised you did mean it 🤣

Conflictedunicorn · 02/07/2022 19:19

You were expecting @MargaritaPie to make sense? That was your first mistake. You’ll be expecting them to defend women next

It's possible to do both you know.

Report the threat to the police whilst asking people to report the tweet in order for the threat and her home address be deleted.

‘Has she personally vetted and had each of her 13.9M followers DBS checked?’

She’s not responsible for them. If they commit crimes they are responsible for them, just like the would-be pipe bomber (and again not JKR) is responsible for his/her/fae’s own crimes.

Funny how JKR is expected to be responsible for every one of her followers but none of the traliban are. Almost like a double standard.

MargaritaPie · 02/07/2022 20:21

I think my posts have made it very clear any threats are acceptable.

The person referred to had about 20 followers, JKR has 13.9M.

Whoops. Not acceptable I meant.

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 20:22

‘The person referred to had about 20 followers, JKR has 13.9M.’

Then if they don’t want to be broadcast to 13.9m people (understandably) they should think about laying off the death threats.

And that’s relevant because? So if an account only has 2 followers, posts ‘JKR’ deserves to die’ and one of those 2 followers kills her is that ok with you, cos there’s only a small number of followers? You have also not made it clear you condemn the threats, you’ve spent more time condemning JK for pointing out she was a victim of a bomb threat.

ThickCutSteakChips · 02/07/2022 20:32

The fact that JKR just will not shut the fuck up like women are supposed to really upsets some people doesn't it?

She was supposed to write a grovelling apologetic post, begging for forgiveness and promising to educate herself around about 2 whole years ago now, wasn't she?

But she is still here, and she isn't shutting up.

Deal with it.

PearlClutch · 02/07/2022 20:34

the number of Twitter followers a person has has absolutely zero bearing on how dangerous/powerful/vulnerable they are. None.

I love JK. She is my inspiration. I think it confuses them because she won’t back down, and that encourages a lot of other people to not back down. Personally I hope she does a sequel to Harry potter, and only casts people who haven’t vilified her. I think that’s why Warner did an about face. If she exerts her rights, she can pull all merch and advertising.

From that fucking awful article in 'Politico':

'...in April, Rowling responded to an amateur music video with lyrics “J.K. hope you fit in a hearse” by tweeting a public complaint — eliciting a howl of protest from the original poster (whose video was taken down by Twitter).

“The most powerful TERF in the world (billionaire, lives in castle, 14.1M followers) sent a mob after me (broke, lives with mom, 1.1k followers),” tweeted Faye Fadem, the bedroom producer behind the video and a trans woman. “She made a conscious choice to target me because she felt threatened by a young trans woman expressing herself. If u want to come in here and say ‘but u did death threat’ I’m an artist with 0 power expressing myself.”

Last year, Rowling accused three trans activists of “doxxing” her after they posted a photo of their protest in front of her Edinburgh mansion that included her address — easily discovered information. The activists took so much heat from Rowling’s followers that they deleted the photo — and their accounts.

Trans-rights advocates say Rowling, a self-professed expert at monster creation, is using those skills to whip up a false narrative that casts trans people as a threat to women and their rights.'

There you go. Death threats are 'expressing myself'. And to speak up if someone issues you a death threat is 'monster creation' whipping up a 'false narrative'.

Newsflash: It's not 'false narrative' to say that someone issuing threats is ... a threat.

JKR should do a 21st century Hogwarts series. Cast new actors and actresses as professors from the previous generation. Let Robbie Coltrane come back.

Artist... zero power... allowed to break the law without consequence - no, delete that last bit.

So hold on, I thought we were all supposed to #bekind? Or is that only women? If I identify as a transwoman am I allowed to issue death threats with no consequences?

It’s interesting how it’s really clear which class of people need to be kind, isn’t it?
