JKR and more bomb threats

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 06:59

JKR posted on Twitter that a user of another account posted her address, a picture of a pipe bomb and a handbook for making bombs.

If you are defending these people, you are defending terrorism now. It’s incredible how low they will go and still try to claim the moral high ground (although I suppose that’s space and they can’t really help thinking they should have all the space?).

MishyDJ went quiet very quickly, didn't xe?

I miss the old ploppers. We don’t get poppers like them any more.

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer

Yes, she would happy to be involved in any HP projects that don’t involve JKR, the, er, writer.

Nasty piece of work as my mother would say

Emma Watson has delusions of grandeur. Smug wee git.

Jo was absolutely right to re-tweet the threat. Twitter had failed to act on an obvious threat of violence, but once Jo's 14 million followers sprang into action and reported it en masse, the account was rapidly suspended. I hope the inadequate male who made the thread is indeed reported to the Gardai and made to face the consequences of his actions.

Re whether the poster was trans, if they say they are trans, they are trans so can’t be “fake trans”. And whether they are trans or not, they are using the flag, which makes them a trans rights activist.

What I really don’t get is how tweeting a tasteless joke about bombing an airport ends up in a prison sentence but a tweet advocating bombing an author and her family and providing a handbook and address to do it is absolutely fine.

Yes to both of these points.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/07/2022 12:09

Emma Watson has delusions of talent.

FunnyTalks · 02/07/2022 12:23

Lots of trans people on twitter are supportive of women and critical of much about gender ideology. The media isn't so keen on giving these people a platform though.

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 13:10

Got people like Owen Jones and Chimene Suleyman showing that they do understand the difference between right and wrong, and condemning threats of violence against women. You can disagree with someone and say it’s not okay to threaten to kill them.

We are told ‘both sides of this debate are as bad as each other’. So where are the bomb threats and rape threats from the other side? This is where the whole ‘transpeople are the most oppressed ever’ comes in. If a woman states biological facts, taking into account the oppressed status of transpeople, it is violent abuse. If a transperson sends a rape or death threat, it is a revolutionary act against the oppressing class. It is why they are so obsessed with the narrative. Their tactics do not work without it.

Yes, exactly. 'Most oppressed ever and ever, Amen', and yet have the ears of politicians, and the support of large multinationals, and having laws and policies changed to appease them. What's oppressed about that?
They are part of the sacred caste, and therefore any bad behaviour is excused and justified.
Nothing to see here folks, just another poor oppressed trans person wanting to pee in peace, of course.

Roseglen84 · 02/07/2022 13:24

MishyJDI · 02/07/2022 07:28

How do any of you know a trans person is behind this? Talk about jump to conclusions and condemnation. Let the evidence be pursued and justice follow, rather than piling in….

You again, did you even look at the tweet, or do you just 'jump in and defend' whilst lecturing others about condemnation?

Do you even have anything useful to add?

Roseglen84 · 02/07/2022 13:26

Abhannmor · 02/07/2022 07:59

Going by his Twitter name he is Irish or lives here.
Some poor ould Mammy is dying of embarrassment now. 😳

It's quite possible he isn't trans tbh. Just a messed up fantasist or 'stylist' as they used to be known. Reeks of attention seeking. But then..
you never know. I hope the police have been informed.

Given that many of our politicians fell over themselves a week or so ago to condemn the Liveline radio programme for even discussing trans issues at all .... 'be respectful of trans rights blah blah', I wonder how many of them will come out and say anything against this? Or will there be the usual tumbleweeds when stuff like this happens?

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 13:32

Then we have people - supposedly the most marginalised people on Earth - talking like this:

‘yeah that’s great except rowling isn’t a normal human woman, she’s a billionaire racist who lives in a castle where she plots the downfall of a persecuted minority and she can get straight to fuck.’

She’s not human.

Where have we heard things like this before?

Obviously this is wrong but shouldn't she have at least censored the account she is accusing of doing this before broadcasting them to 13.9M followers? There are now abusive comments advocating violence towards the person she has accused.

JK Rowling should have gone straight to the police with this, not straight to Social Media.

Igmum · 02/07/2022 13:43

This is horrific. Come on Police Scotland, this is what you should dedicate time and resources to. Not silencing women.

Are the police able to delete tweets then?

Pardon me? Excuse me what? What the fuck?

Circumferences · 02/07/2022 13:55

Sorry I just find the defense of TRA violence quite indefensible

Circumferences · 02/07/2022 13:57

What's the context out of curiosity?

TRAs do love their threats of violence and rape, and violent rape etc, but why was it sent in this instance? Did JKR say something about gender ideology or was it a thread about her new book?
Not that it matters tremendously I'm just interested...

Twitter are notorious for having a very left wing (pro TRA and anti-GC) agenda and sometime they need lots of people to report a post before they will act on it. She's not unreasonable to ask her followers to also report so it's removed quickly

And yet when she followed a policy of not replying to or commenting about dick pix posted on the Twitter thread she set up for children's drawings during lockdown, she was criticised for not saying she was reporting them. Almost as if nothing she does is ever right.

The screenshot she posted includes a tweet of hers commenting on Twitter deleting tweets from TullipR, a male detransitioner who has had a lot of publicity recently since he described the medical problems he now has since genital reassignment surgery.

Violent threats are wrong.

If anyone makes threats, that is the responsibility of the person making the threat.

It is not the responsibility of the woman being threatened to protect the person threatening her.

Hope that's clear as clear can be.

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 14:19

Why are we meant to be protecting the identities of potential pipe bombers again?
