JKR and more bomb threats

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 06:59

JKR posted on Twitter that a user of another account posted her address, a picture of a pipe bomb and a handbook for making bombs.

If you are defending these people, you are defending terrorism now. It’s incredible how low they will go and still try to claim the moral high ground (although I suppose that’s space and they can’t really help thinking they should have all the space?).

There's a type of person who will escalate through levels of offending until they hit a boundary. The police will have a hell of a lot to answer for when this level of escalating confidence ends up in someone really being hurt. The political cause is irrelevant: the offending behaviour is perfectly obvious. It's insane that women are arrested for stating biological fact but social media is littered with death threats perfectly acceptable because they're from one particular political view.

Ffs would the government of this country get a bloody grip.

Very true.

‘but they need to stand up and condemn this shit. This is being done in their name.’

Many trans people are vulnerable people with significant mental health problems. They aren’t responsible for what an aggressive minority choose to do. But the rest of us really have had enough of it, and we need the government to intervene and sort out the priorities of the police. Misgendering isn’t a crime. Threatening to blow up someone’s house or body is a crime.

I could not agree more with you. The police are hopeless in England at the moment. What to do? Maybe we should each report every single incident until their admin burden becomes intolerable. Email to local crime commissioner?

I think it’s the Home Office we need to target (with emails and letters, before anyone gets excited). PCCs would be sensible to contact but too many are captured.

Best thing the press could would be to redact the name and avatar. That would send these idiots raging. They can’t claim the kudos if they’re nit identified, and surely they wouldn’t be stupid enough to identify themselves.. would they?

When Stonewall has made the trans umbrella so wide as to be meaningless, its kind of irrelevant whether the perpetrator is trans or not. I always separate trans ideology from trans people for this reason and because many trans people do not support the ideology. It is the institutions, organisations, government departments and vocal privileged "allies" who need to sort themselves out and realise what their promotion of a misogynist homophobic ideology is leading to.

Terrorists are usually found to also be perpetrators of domestic violence. Women are a known target for some terrorists. As are homosexual people. These are yet more reasons why gender ideology seeking to obscure sex categories puts us more at risk

LordLoveADuck · 02/07/2022 08:50

@MishyJDI How do any of you know a trans person is behind this?

Well if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its a duck. If you are familiar with terfisaslurcom, you will know this unrestrained hostility towards gender critical women and specifically towards JKR is par for the course.

How do any of you know a trans person is behind this? Talk about jump to conclusions and condemnation. Let the evidence be pursued and justice follow, rather than piling in….

It's irrelevant whether an actial transperson is the perpetrator. What mayters is thst this is being done in the name of Trans Rights.

When the 9/11 terrorist attacks happened, there we loads of Muslims speaking out against it, imams going on TV to condemn terrorism, ordinary muslims saying they are devastated thst this has been done in their name.

So where are all the ordinary trans people when JKR gets sent a very clear threat of violence? Why doesn't a someone like Munroe Bergdorf/Grace Lavery/Shon Faye who has a great deal of influence speak out against killing JKR? Or perhaps a sportsperson like Emily Bridges or Rachel-Veronica McKinnon-Ivy? Why aren't organisations like Mermaids and Stonewall issuing public statements that say "Just to be clear, we don't think it's okay to bomb people's houses"?

When JKR posted her essay on why she supports single-sex spaces, pretty much everyone who'd been associated with the movie was in the news or on social media within a week to tell us they disagree with her. So Daniel, Rupert and Emma, you support trans rights. We get it. But what do you think about people who threaten to rape and kill JKR in the name of trans rights? What's that? Silence.....

BordoisAgain · 02/07/2022 09:00

She retweeted asking for the account to be reported so twitter would remove a tweet giving her home address. How else to get twitter to take notice?

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 09:00

I’m actually increasingly disgusted by Emma Watson. She’s happy to profit from JKR’s imagination and actually encouraging the severance of JKR and her copyright (not that that’s going to happen) so she can make a grandiose return to the franchise... and at the same time she doesn’t seem to care that the person whose work made her rich is being threatened with rape and death.

I wouldn’t mind her disagreeing with JKR and stepping back, or saying what she likes about trans rights. That’s her prerogative, as it is everyone’s. It’s the way she wants to be involved as well, as if she is more central to the brand than the person whose mind it came from, that nauseates me.

Conflictedunicorn · 02/07/2022 09:01

What @justgotosleepffs said. Not one famous trans activist has ever condemned the bullying and abuse, not just to JKR, but to anyone. In fact some, (Shon Faye), joined the pile on. I’m always of the opinion that if you have to issue threats and commit violence to persuade people to subscribe to your ideology, then your ideology is flawed and needs to be condemned

Alltheprettyseahorses · 02/07/2022 09:02

J K Rowling is completely correct in retweeting the threat. Why should she have to hide it? Is it because it further undermines the already failed 'most oppressed' claim?

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 09:03

You’d think a good decade after Deathly Hallows was released that EW would have found some decent roles and moved on, if she dislikes JKR that much. All I can remember is that she was in The Circle (bad), Beauty and the Beast (the cartoon did it better) and Noah (I couldn’t finish that).

oh dear! -mishy are you saying some people might not be who they say they are? That some people may take flags and put them into their profile and say they are something they are not in reality?

shocked! I am shocked I tell you.

RufusthefIoraImissingreindeer · 02/07/2022 10:03

and actually encouraging the severance of JKR and her copyright

Seriously?

achillestoes · 02/07/2022 10:06

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer

Yes, she would happy to be involved in any HP projects that don’t involve JKR, the, er, writer.

Cannot fucking stand Emma Watson. Her behaviour is absolutely shitty.

Hied · 02/07/2022 10:21

Many trans people are vulnerable people with significant mental health problems.

This is very true.

I really hope the police are involved and very public arrest follows soon. This is just utter madness that's it's been allowed to go so far.

As regards Emma whatsherbod et all, id LOVE for JKR to write another Harry Potter book which is picked up for a film, and she ensures none of the previous cast are allowed to be in it!!

They are a bunch of self-righteous traitors who'd be nothing without JKR!!

PearlClutch · 02/07/2022 10:43

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 02/07/2022 08:17

She probably has taken it to the police, they don’t seem to have done anything about any previous rape and death threats but i live in hope

she can tweet what she likes…bit weird saying she shouldn’t retweet and not making a comment about the original tweet

I love 'take it to the police'.

The police don't give a fuck if women get threats. How many times have we heard from women stalked, abused, threatened, harassed, doxxed, terrorised?

Nothing happens.

Nothing ever fucking happens.

If you want police protection you need to be one of the special people. Women are not them.

Zita60 · 02/07/2022 10:44

Conflictedunicorn · 02/07/2022 07:07

That is disgusting. And yet women are the ones told we are evil, mean, nasty and the worst people ever. I don’t see anyone but the TRA doing shit like this. I’m sure we’ll be told ‘it’s just a few crazies on Twitter, normal transpeople are not like this’. In that case where are the ‘normal trans people’ condemning this? If ‘transpeople don’t do this,’ where are the people saying ‘not in my name’ and getting this shut down?

I've seen trans people on threads on Twitter saying "not in my name", eg transwomen saying they agree they shouldn't compete against women.

I suspect many of them have had so many difficulties in their lives they don't want to put their heads above the parapet in this toxic war.

But it would certainly help if more of them would condemn the threats and hatred.

richie7 · 02/07/2022 11:00

Sending love to Jk always. I worry for her safety.
