What scares you most about state of trans ideology

Musing over a few things this evening with a friend, talking about not only sanitary product companies but also make up brands jumping on the band wagon, new gender neutral toilets at work, the debacle of men being allowed in womens changing rooms, children being allowed hormone blockers and so on.

But out of everything, the thing that really frightens me most is how on earth im supposed to raise my daughters in amongst all this. We have always been respectful of peoples choice and differences, we try to instil this in the girls. However it's getting harder to keep the balance and explain things without having to get into why they as girls are on the back foot, pushed out of things and why they need to understand the dynamics and implications. I suppose im resentful that it's gotten to this point?

Anyway, what is it about the current climate that really gets to you the most?

How readily people are so willing to go along with such blatant absurdity.

How quickly governments around the globe are pushing through new legislation based on nothing but emotional blackmail and feelings, with zero evidence, facts or thought to the consequences, which not only cements unreality into law, but simultaneously makes it a crime to question the bullshit.

This. 1) People who can apparently believe this stuff because it's the easy thing to do. 2) Powerful people in all kinds of organisations which are supposedly important to our civilisation - government, universities, law courts, international bodies, schools - who very probably largely don't believe this stuff, but are prepared to do and say anything in order not to rock the boat.
Humanity clearly hasn't progressed since witches were burned. The one comforting thought is that as a species we deserve what Global Warming etc. is bringing us.

I started a thread to share a link to Bill Maher's New Rules monologue from last week (I think) but here it is . Funny, common sense, astute and getting a shit tonne of support in the comments, praise the Lord.

Good to see that it was this line of Bill Maher's that seemed to attract the loudest applause "Maybe the girl who doesn’t like girly stuff just needs to realise that being female doesn’t have to mean being a Kardashian"

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 26/05/2022 23:12

The general erosion of social norms. Children can consent, males can become female. If sex means nothing, can age too? Without being able to be truthful about age and sex, we have no safeguarding.

As pp, it's the willingness of people in authority to lie and this help remove safeguarding. I don't know if they do this because they are ignorant, scared, gain financially or it's their intent, but thr effects are the same regardless.

For me it was the concept of "no debate" and then how rapidly that was accepted, especially by universities. Our highest institutes of education very forcibly telling young people they mustn't think?!! Proper 1984 meets the handmaid's tale vibes.

I don't have quite that same feeling of pure helplessness and terror, like a lead weight in my stomach, any more.

This
Can't believe people have bought into the ideology to such an extent.

Fuzzyheid · 26/05/2022 23:18

Finally understanding just how much most females are feared and hated, not just by males but by other females, the media, the world of entertainment, academia, politics, advertising, literature.....the list of those who hold nothing but contempt for us is staggering. It has literally taken my breath away at times.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 26/05/2022 23:19

Like many pps, for me it’s the rate at which it’s taken hold. Of education, the NHS, government institutions, so many rational decent intelligent people have fallen hook line and sinker for it.
This Twitter thread is full of actual scientists, female ones, despairing at fucking suffragette ribbons adorning Mary Anning’s statue. A woman who’s life’s work was appropriated by men because she wasn’t able to become a scientist herself because of her sex! They think suffragette ribbons and women fighting for our rights today are transphobic 🤯

OvaHere · 26/05/2022 23:21

The lies. So many lies told to refute reality and people just go along with it.

Tbh there's more than just transactivism where that is happening currently but it's certainly the most egregious, mind fucking example.

Lavenderlast · 26/05/2022 23:23

The death of free speech. Students getting university lecturers fired for ‘wrong think’, schoolchildren being bullied into leaving school for asking unpopular questions, writers, politicians and athletes being sent death threats for trying to have a healthy (and democratic) debate. People are being punished for thinking. It all reminds me so strongly of the craziness that comes in the lead up to war, whether it’s facists encouraging people to beat their neighbours to death, or communist purges murdering their intellectual elite and sending political dissenters to reducation camps.

And it happened so fast, in a highly-educated liberal wealthy society. How??

The other thing that scares me about trans activism is its obsession with children and sex. You can wear what you like and campaign for legal changes without involving children at all, yet the trans activists are fixated on talking to primary age kids about sex. Why do drag queens want to wear sexy clothes while reading ‘story time’ to little kids in libraries? Why did two adult transwomen wearing suspenders and stockings go and play lego next to the kids in the museum kids play area? Why did anyone ever think the ‘Family Sex Show’ was ok? Why do they promote chemical castration drugs in schools as a ‘solution’ to classic teenage alienation/depression, and bombard primary schools with activist lobbying material? And why do none of them seem to accept basic biological facts?

Robbie Williams said it first: “When the truth dies, very bad things happen…”

Luxa · 26/05/2022 23:23

The gaslighting of women and girls, the denial of science, the erasing of our history and experiences as human females.

Redshoeblueshoe · 26/05/2022 23:26

I would have had more respect for Garden Court Chambers if they had just been honest. Due to legal aid cuts - they needed a new money stream. Trans was the way to go. To say Allison is a racist because she doesn't do dick - must be about the most stupidist thing I have heard in my life - and I've heard some right BS

eurochick · 26/05/2022 23:26

How otherwise sensible people have been taken over by this nonsense. How can they not see how daft it is to say that someone with a penis is a woman?

mamakoukla · 26/05/2022 23:27

What scares me most…. feeling that my voice as a woman is not heard, feeling that my opinion was never asked, nor my consent considered. It’s an important discussion yet I don’t feel that women were ever seen as being part of it. We are expected to accept what we are told to do. Again.

SarahDippity · 26/05/2022 23:33

The social contagion of the ideology amongst pre-teens and teens. Grappling with communicating to young, immature minds that the ‘kindness’ that is expected disregards biology.

And rolling back of decades of work and activism by feminists to gain equality. I’m in ireland and it is within my living memory that women had substantially fewer rights and had to fight hard for contraception, the right to continue working after marriage, abortion, and discrimination in the workplace.

The conflation of women’s rights with trans rights that erodes said women’s rights, and the apparent blindness to see this. This is particularly apparent with some activists who fought hard on certain issues like access to abortion and now see trans rights as a natural progression, whereas it directly goes against women-specific medical interests.

I despair.

IamAporcupine · 26/05/2022 23:44

The systemic gaslighting. The denial of reality

lunar1 · 26/05/2022 23:48

Being silenced.

Violent criminals in womens prisons.

Education, hard facts are not being taught because we have to be kind. Biology is being erased and replaced with pseudoscience.

Damage done to babies, drug trials are normally so controlled, pregnant and breastfeeding women are guilt tripped over a paracetamol, yet put the word trans in there and it's fine for a growing human life to be exposed to whatever drug regime they are on, because don't forget, we have to be kind.

Erasure of women.

The damage this will do to LGB people. The damage this will do to people who feel they are trans, but don't want a huge spectacle made, typically this demographic has a high level of suicide.

Forced 'outing' with this pronouns crap.

Mother's so obsessed with having a girl they convince their son they are one, and the whole world encouraging it.

I could probably go on.

itwasntmetho · 26/05/2022 23:51

The loss of freedom of belief. I didn't appreciate what "it's a free country" meant.

justasking111 · 26/05/2022 23:54

Feeling hated as a woman, and mother. The fanaticism of a minority against half the population. Education being subverted.

maddy68 · 26/05/2022 23:58

Nothing "scares" me about it. It doesn't affect me

DuesToTheDirt · 26/05/2022 23:59

Yes, this. You are sanctioned, cancelled or lose your job for say, suggesting that a rapist with a penis is not actually a woman; yet the people who threaten you with violence or sexual assault for your suggestions receive no consequences.

TheABC · 27/05/2022 00:01

The lack of critical thinking from people who are trained and paid to think. Judges, politicians, doctors and academics.

I am still surprised at how poor the arguments are on the TRA side (and the paucity of good statistics) once you get past 'no debate' and 'feelings.'

Women will suffer in the short and medium-term but we've been galvanised into action and I remain hopeful for the longer-term future. Once you see the misogyny, you can't unsee it and I think a lot of us have become active feminists as a result. I can't go back to my comfortable complacency now.

Very* important point to make. I'm so sad to read it, but the terrible truth in it has to be addressed.

Wait what fresh hell..? An expiry date on the Equality Act?!!

IANAL, but I don't believe that's true.

The rapid and unchallenged spread of trans ideology has been scary, but I'm optimistic that the tide is starting to turn. Thanks to Maya, Allison, and many others. Is Jo Phoenix next?

Feelingoktoday · 27/05/2022 00:11

Listening to the Allison IT today and realising that some of the top legal brains, including judges believe that TWAW. That lesbians should have sex with transgender lesbians. To not want sex is considered transphobic. These are the clever ones!

God this too. I avoided the feminist boards on mumsnet for years because I was scared of finding out just how hated women are.
The cats out of the bag now and I can’t unsee it 😩

Novina · 27/05/2022 01:04

The coordination across many countries (Europe + anglosphere) including international organisations such as the UN. It's such a massive push to get an ideology embedded into law in multiple countries.

The feeling like we're experiencing whatever the opposite of an enlightenment is. That so many people in charge of governments and institutions just seem to lack either basic thinking skills, or moral fibre, or both.
