On now. I don’t know who this guy is who is speaking but he’s just said, “It ain’t fair and it’s not right” and he is a LEGEND.

Watch and comment!

Miriam Cates just stood up.

Is that when nobody takes any particular side?

Zerogravity · 23/05/2022 16:51

Can you post the link please?

MagnoliaTaint · 23/05/2022 16:51

Lords or Commons? or a corridor somewhere in between?

crosstalk · 23/05/2022 16:51

Where will this be reported > Hansard?

tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 16:51

It might be. But Miriam Cates is giving a barn-stormer of a speech.

MagnoliaTaint · 23/05/2022 16:53

I can't find her anywhere, OP. Is it live? When was it?

MagnoliaTaint · 23/05/2022 16:53

thanks.

tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 16:53

And it was

OP posts:
tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 16:54

Sorry - it was Nick Fletcher who spoke first.

OP posts:
MidCenturyClegs · 23/05/2022 16:55

@Zerogravity started at 4:30. I have a girl-crush and huge admiration for Miriam Cates.

tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 16:56

Me too, MidCentury. I’d take her out for a pizza any day.

Who is this speaking now, and who is the woman with the black scarf (who seems to think women shouldn't feel unsafe with transwomen in prisons assaulting them)

tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 17:01

Guy who’s talking now pointing out that for most relevant things we have raised the age at which children are allowed to do things: tanning, smoking, tattoos, cosmetic procedures. It’s extraordinary (he says) that there has been a huge increase in access to puberty blockers with life-changing impacts on children, and if you challenge that, questioning whether children can think through the consequences, then you get cancelled.

OP posts:
tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 17:02

I’m not sure who he is but he’s on the side of keeping kids safe and that’s one more.

OP posts:
tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 17:03

Tim Loughton.

OP posts:
tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 17:05

He says that if you search the Houses of Commons or Lords for a member, you can enter them as “male”, “female”, “any” or “non-binary”.

WarriorN · 23/05/2022 17:09

It's just crashed but Miriam must hang out here...!

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 23/05/2022 17:11

Thanks, I am soundless today! Shall follow the tweets

MagnoliaTaint · 23/05/2022 17:12

No idea who this Scottish woman is. No info on the page. She's talking mince, though. Once again, I apologise on behalf of Scotland.

tabbycatstripy · 23/05/2022 17:12

Whoever the woman speaking now is (Kristen? Scottish?) she hasn’t even defined non-binary, but she thinks it should very obviously have legal recognition in preference to sex.

What is it?

OP posts:
WarriorN · 23/05/2022 17:13

It's like they have cloth ears; the man pointed out to the Scottish lady that his speech was not about offending anyone but the implications for children and for sport.

Scottish woman says "it ain't going to erase me pet." Hmm

MagnoliaTaint · 23/05/2022 17:15

She's going for the vaguely affronted style, while neatly managing to avoid actually saying anything of substance.
