@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

"word jizz"
Indeed. I'm just listening to it now, what a boring, self indulgent arsehole. Reminds me of my ex - can speak about himself for hoooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrssssssssssss.
CaveMum · 07/04/2022 18:56

@WarriorN

Have they had Emma Hilton on yet? I think they need her.
Several people, myself included, have teeeyed Woman’s Hour to say they need her on for this Sport Special they are planning. I saw a short time ago that she had tweeted herself offering to go on.

I emailed WH asking what were they thinking of. Apparently there are GC feminists and GC activists who are not feminists -- err divide and conquer? I don't think so.
Look at the online reviews of her books - there are virtually none haha, no one is buying them -so I have to ask why was she on.
Then to mention Caster Semanya as an example of why the gender studies student who emailed struggled with this - ??- one intersex does not make a law- WH lost the plot I'm afraid.

Polyanthus2 · 07/04/2022 19:10

Thankfully Grace faltered with the ' hope the queen dies' twitter ban - made her sound like an arsey 14 year old

felulageller · 07/04/2022 19:13

That was such an own goal.

I was trying to imagine a casual radio listener switching through the channels in their car. If they had tuned in mid way through and heard that voice I'm sure they wouldn't think the voice was anything other than male.

Doing some vocabulary gymnastics would have lost more devotees. There were no actual points made. And I was pleasantly surprised by EB.

The more they are given airtime like this the more people will become GC.

PankhurstConnection · 07/04/2022 19:26

@PrelateChuckles

I think a lot of the deleted post would be where anyone forgot Grace's gender.
Quite a tricky thing to remember about someone who mentions their penis so frequently.
MoonOnASpoon · 07/04/2022 19:26

Apologies if this has already been posted but WH’s tweet about the interview says “Academic, activist and author Grace Lavery transitioned in 2018. She speaks to @Emmabarnett about her memoir Please Miss – A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Penis”

It does seem like they chose a TW to interview for the sake of balance, who is the best possible illustration of the reality of gender ideology, for anyone who might not yet realise just how much penis and penis-centring it can involve.

No amount of bafflegab can clothe their emperor.

MsTSwift · 07/04/2022 19:49

My heart goes out to any poor soul sat next to them at dinner party or wedding. Nightmare! “Now enough about me what do you think about me?”

88sausagefactory88 · 07/04/2022 19:57

Where’s the Mpie to tell us that our Saviour Has Arrived

Runningupthecurtains · 07/04/2022 19:58

I can't think why the Beautiful South line "I have a PHD in I told so" is stuck my head today.

"My penis, blah blah, pedantry, pedantry, pedantry, me, me, me, I'm a pervert, blah blah, I think, I think, I think, me, me, me a bit more pedantry, I hope an old lady dies" did I miss anything?

Nobody ever sits next to Lavery. The ego takes up the seat on the left and the wall of verbose bullshit takes the one on the right.
AIPS · 07/04/2022 19:59

I’m just dying laughing imagining all the R4 WH listeners who tuned in expecting Hayley Cropper and got fetus penis instead. Brilliant, well done Grace that was epic peakery 😘

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/04/2022 20:14

I do so hope they have Emma Hilton on the Sports Special. She's brilliant. And coherent, unlike Grace.

Artichokeleaves · 07/04/2022 20:15

I've a knighthood in I'm Not Listening....

very apt.

Please tell me you’re developing some kind of FWR version of Mornington Crescent? I mean, first we need a better women’s!map to travel round on; & while the point is, I know, improv [of the absurd], we could have fun* collecting & collating nonsenses spouted by TRAs into moves, Rules (& their exceptions).

Of course, if you’re just thinking of a simple drinking game, I’d perhaps go for something less ambitious. That doesn’t result in alcohol poisoning or even “just” over hydration.

  • for a given value of fun
TheAbbotOfUnreason · 07/04/2022 22:33

@Absurdle

if you don’t wear make-up when you are doing an interview with Woman’s Hour you don’t wear make-up very often

Is Grace aware it's a radio programme? And has anyone read Grace's "scholarship" about learning to apply eyeliner? I kind of want to read it, but not enough to actually read it.

I'm in the camp of having thoroughly enjoyed that interview. A mirthmaking twerp of staggering me-ness.

I had the same thoughts about it’s a radio programme you utter twonk.

I am thoroughly enjoying your assessment of GL as “a mirthmaking twerp of staggering me-ness”.

Manicsfan · 07/04/2022 22:34

Whilst not the most important point by any means, I'm raging by GL's appropriation of title of Dave Eggers book for such a crass, cringey title.
A Staggering Work of Heartbreaking Genius is based on Dave taking care of his young brother when his Mum and Dad both die, of tragic illnesses. It's funny, original, heartbreaking, honest and human. And Dave has done loads for child literacy since. What a total fucking scunner to have this gammon stealing your book title.

FemaleAndLearning · 07/04/2022 23:33

*Mumsnut

'Word salad' is too kind a description.

Word porridge, maybe?

hey, don't diss porridge!
healthy, wholesome, nourishing locally grown and very good value !*
Is that naturally organic porridge?

Lavery's arguments made no sense. If Lavery believes that there aren't really any differences between men and women and only poor deluded nonfeminists brainwashed by patriarchy think that sex means anything then why was it so important for Lavery to change their gender identity? Lavery admitted sexual stereotypes were misogynistic. If being a woman isn't about your biological sex and isn't about sexual stereotypes what is left? It can't be just about wanting a pair of boobs surely?
