In my honest opinion JK Rowling is...

The TRA religion are at it again prompted by one of the Witchfinder lackeys and his now deleted tweets.

Well so are we.

In my honest opinion, JK Rowling is brilliant, wise, beautiful. A protector of children, a Shield-maiden for women. She has shown more bravery and grace than the cowards around her. She never bows to their rape and death threats. She's probably the safest person around children that I can imagine. Especially the vulnerable and confused young people who have been persuaded by social media that they have been born in the wrong body and who have been encouraged to amputate body parts and take unnecessary and dangerous medication.

She's the definition of courage.
She is Lady Lionheart.

@MaryAndHerNet

If JKr decided to start a political party, I'd vote for her and it.
Hell yes. Wish she would.

The current space hopper/pogo stick tweets are brilliant - not because they are particularly hilarious in themselves, but they just show how few fucks she gives about what people think of her now.

Like, at the beginning of this, when she first 'came out' as GC, I'm pretty sure most TRAs and woke bros were expecting an almost immediate apology, with promises to 'educate' herself, and that she is 'always learning' and how she is 'so sorry for the hurt that she caused' blah blah blah. That immediate apology didn't materialise, even when the 'criticism' got very heated, even when she started receiving threats of violence. Then, with each new tweet, you could almost hear the scratching of heads from the TRAs and the beards - like, why isn't this woman shutting up? We are telling her she is awful, we are sending her threats, we are telling her that she is not being kind.

They have tried discrediting her, making her guilty by association, have taken her tweets out of context to imply she is 'a danger to children'. They have been scraping the bottom of the barrel and scratching around in the dirt for any tiny morsel of shit that they think might stick.

And now, I think the penny is starting to drop that this woman is not done, she is not going to shut up, and in fact she is going to laugh at those who criticise her and take the piss out of them. That there isn't anything they can throw at her that will stop her defending women and children.

@QuirkyTurtle

I love Harry Potter and JK Rowling, they are my childhood.

But this thread is the cringiest thing I've ever read.

This isn't about your childhood or Harry Potter. It's about women and childrens rights and safety.

I don't give a fuck whether you think that's cringy. I'm interested in safeguarding. What are you interested in?

@Waitwhat23

I was just laughing at that - quite a lot of very baffled Americans wondering what on earth a space hopper is (the American equivalent appears to be Hippity Hop and they sell them in gas stations apparently)
Maybe they think a space hopper is a cervix?

A genuinely brave and inspiring woman.

A brave and principled woman who is using her earned wealth and her visibility to do good.

I'm not clever or witty but I wish I could have come up with a post like this... I'm with you all in my total admiration for JK... And in my small way I'm trying my best to defend her.. I successfully got my DNeice to actually read what she actually said.. My DN changed her mind and is trying to educate some of her friends.. Slowly we can change this apauling mindset..

I could never imagine then that JKR would be my adulthood.

This thread isn't 'cringe' it's born from the vitriol of Twitter, it is a phoenix.

Dinosauria · 05/04/2022 19:04

MaryLou don't underestimate what you are doing.

Furx · 05/04/2022 19:30

I ❤️JKR.

BUT if I had a criticism… hell yes to this

my god would you please write a bit faster woman I need more Robin!!

I only got into Strike at Christmas. (Thanks to FWR discussions)I’ve read everything twice now.. TWICE. And preordered the new one…

Cmon cmon….

gingerhills · 05/04/2022 19:43

I successfully got my DNeice to actually read what she actually said..

That's a huge step. My usually highly discerning son was bitching about JKR but when I asked if he had read what she had written, admitted he hadn't. The vast majority of her haters haven't bothered to read her original message, the very fair, trans-supportive but equally women-supporting opinion piece that sparked all the death and rape threats and de-platforming and rejection by the actors made stars by her work.

I wonder if they prefer not to read what she wrote so they can continue to fuel their own hatred. If they actually read it, they'd see what an astonishingly measured, thoughtful and compassionate piece it is, towards trans people as well as women.

Artichokeleaves · 05/04/2022 20:26

So much of this crap is based on alternative facts and alternative realities. And a lot of laziness in actually reading and thinking and forming an opinion instead of importing one from someone else who may or may not have an agenda and be speaking the truth.

Artichokeleaves · 05/04/2022 20:27

At least kids have the excuse of being innocent and not having yet learned to be cynical and not to believe everything on fact value no matter how emotional and sparkly it may look.

She is glorious. There is a verse in Proverbs that says this: 'She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.' That is JKR. Clothed with strength and dignity.
Love this thread.

Yes, I have.
In what way is it a thoughtful and compassionate piece towards trans people?

SilkenBunny · 06/04/2022 05:35

She's amazing.

One of my proudest, errr, mummy moments was when I sent both my indignant teen dds her recent essay, and they actually took some time away from the spoonful froth on social media to actually read it. Shock

What was even more amazing was that they found themselves agreeing with it. Smile

I thought, 'my work here is done.' Smile

SilkenBunny · 06/04/2022 05:36

'Spoonful froth' I meant 'spewing froth' Grin

"I believe the majority of trans-identified people not only pose zero threat to others, but are vulnerable for all the reasons I’ve outlined. Trans people need and deserve protection. Like women, they’re most likely to be killed by sexual partners. Trans women who work in the sex industry, particularly trans women of colour, are at particular risk. Like every other domestic abuse and sexual assault survivor I know, I feel nothing but empathy and solidarity with trans women who’ve been abused by men."

In what way was it transphobic? If you could use her own worda rather than some TRA's doing the whole "When she said this she actually meant this", that would be great.
