The TRA religion are at it again prompted by one of the Witchfinder lackeys and his now deleted tweets.

Well so are we.

In my honest opinion, JK Rowling is brilliant, wise, beautiful. A protector of children, a Shield-maiden for women. She has shown more bravery and grace than the cowards around her. She never bows to their rape and death threats. She's probably the safest person around children that I can imagine. Especially the vulnerable and confused young people who have been persuaded by social media that they have been born in the wrong body and who have been encouraged to amputate body parts and take unnecessary and dangerous medication.

She's the definition of courage.
She is Lady Lionheart.

I was never a fan of hers before but now I think she is pretty bloody awesome.

Enough4me · 05/04/2022 09:12

Great at reading the room and using her position of relative security (financially stable) to support those who cannot raise their heads about the parapet.

oliviastwisted · 05/04/2022 09:15

Where to start.

I queued up more than once in the wee small hours to buy my own copies of Harry Potter books as I became an adult fan girl back in the day.

I have a severely dyslexic DD who was basically illiterate until I put Harry Potter books into her hand and over night she became a voracious reader and never looked back. We had our own exciting adventure of waiting in the wee small hours for the cursed child to come out and we visited wizarding world and cursed child stage shows. Then her younger sister became an ultra Uber super fan Harry Potter reader. Completely obsessed, cue a second wizarding world tour for her very happy Mammy.

The second DD is gender exploring so sadly she has put JK on a bit of a pyre but slowly slowly we are working our way through explaining the complexity of this situation and the nuances of Joanne’s reasons for speaking our for women’s rights and DD is listening so thanks again Joanne for that.

I grew up in a deeply misogynistic and sexist place and gender politics has just gobsmacked me as to how well it fits in with the misogyny that was always in my background. Joanne placing herself front and centre into the eye of the storm of what is the second most contentious public debate of my lifetime (2nd after an abortion referendum) is nothing short of a complete hero for me.

And I love Strike novels.

So basically I absolutely love and admire JK Rowling for more reasons than I have fingers and toes.

#TotallyNotACult

I know,, right?!
Turning myself inside out with cringe at some of these comments!
All bow down, I have a mental image of posters on the floor doing the Wayne's World '' We're not worthy, we're not worthy! '' at her feet lol

You should probably see a doctor about a reaction that severe, it's a shame women showing solidarity towards another woman who stands up for all women should make you come over so funny ☺️

Do you have a similar response when reading about the public death and rape threats JKR and awesome ladies like her get? Do you post on those threads to share your reaction?

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 05/04/2022 09:18

She's that beautiful deer that comes to safeguard Harry potter when Voldemort comes.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 05/04/2022 09:18

Although I don't think many people over 15 use the term cringe so maybe it's teenage hormones.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 05/04/2022 09:20

@Fukuraptor

Courageous, Intelligent, Compassionate and Hilarious. Love her work and appreciate her standing up for women and for what is right and fair.

I don't blame people who think she is wrong (people are entitled to their own opinions) but I do wish they would stop ascribing ill intent towards Transpeople despite all the evidence that she is coming from a place of concern, not just for women and girls but also for non-gender conforming teens and transexual adults. She has been crystal clear about her motivation and how her views in this are formed, her work shows how seriously she takes prejudice and discrimination.

What happened to accepting that people could honestly and ethically hold different opinions about a topic?

"The world isn't split into good people and death eaters."

Spot on in particular your second paragraph
Waitwhat23 · 05/04/2022 09:20

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer

Seems we are allowed to use the cult word on this thread….weird
I was thinking that myself. But not to refer to an ideology which absolutely epitomises that word. Weird.
GoodJanetBadJanet · 05/04/2022 09:23

Can confirm I am definitely a lot over 15.
Didn't know there was an age limit that you had to stop using the term cringe?!
I still use the term mint if I think some thing's good so maybe I'm not best placed to say what phrases are most acceptable Grin

gingerhills · 05/04/2022 09:24

Extremely brave, deeply compassionate and most important of all (with regard to how she's been portrayed online): not transphobic.

FemaleAndLearning · 05/04/2022 09:25

She is amazing. She has took the decision to stand up for women, girls and children because she is principled. She stands up despite the abuse she suffers for those principle. She stands up for me and my daughters. She speaks for all of us (who can't at the moment) for fear of abuse and being sacked from our jobs. She is a true heroine. Happy to how at her feet!

BootsAndRoots · 05/04/2022 09:28

I just hope it doesn't take 400 years for her to receive an apology.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 05/04/2022 09:29

An outstanding ethical woman in every way who's been critical in encouraging women to speak out.
I noticed how many women (and men) used their names when donating to Allison Bailey's crowd funder - very few anonymous comments which is a real shift. (And every time I see the labour party whingeing about money I smile as I think how they've alienated not just half the population but a major donor as well). Idiots.

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 05/04/2022 09:31

I think she’s amazing for so many different reasons- standing up for girls and woman being one. It is just ridiculous that (some) teenagers have accepted the ‘transphobic’ narrative without thinking and reading for themselves. I’ve had to ask my own children to make up their own mind rather than follow the crowd- hope other people will do the same and help stop this avalanche of deciding anyone that believes in biological sex is automatically transphobic etc I am sure life must be extraordinarily difficult for anyone who identifies as different to their biological sex- but their rights are not greater than woman’s rights, in my opinion. JKR is one of very few woman who have relentlessly put forward the needs of woman- Sharron D does the same from a sports point of view. Brave woman x

Deliriumoftheendless · 05/04/2022 09:34

“Cult” lol.

Have you read any comments under any celeb post on any social media platform?

Don’t look at the replies to Lady GaGa might send you scurrying for a safe room.

MattDillonsEyebrows · 05/04/2022 09:39

Adding my voice to the song!

She's flipping amazing!!

I know she's Scottish, but I wish she would start a political party in England. She'd easily be Prime Minister by 2024!

turbonerd · 05/04/2022 09:39

Dependable, honest, brave and true

GoodJanetBadJanet · 05/04/2022 09:41

She'd easily be Prime Minister by 2024!

Debatable

BunnyBerries · 05/04/2022 09:43

Lumos.

Women and girls worldwide were in the dark feeling unable to speak and she bravely stood up and gave them all the word for light. Instantly they knew that they could hold up their own wand and when they stood together, they could not be ignored.

It’s also the name of her charity for children and I can think of no more fitting word.

She also rocks a cape.
Love all your books Jo : )

ondatra · 05/04/2022 09:44

Completely agree. I have enormous respect for JKR - she's one of the main reasons I started speaking up too, e.g. by raising issues at work.
I can't believe that Twitter doesn't give a sh**t that she constantly gets death and rape threats - what a rotten corporation...

Weatherwax13 · 05/04/2022 09:48

21st century suffragette

LittleWhingingWoman · 05/04/2022 09:52

@GoodJanetBadJanet

bet your friends have real issues writing your birthday cards, i bet they have to stick with to janet love your friend Grin No, just if they started saying I was a fucking queen, a legend they're in awe of, ovaries of steel, a gem, etc etc I'd be like WTF, you alright, hun?! '' Grin
Maybe because you haven't done anything worthy of admiration. Like fearlessly defend the rights of women and girls.

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 05/04/2022 09:53

I think she’s amazing. Strong, brave, compassionate and kind.
She isn’t transphobic and the fact that she received death and rape threats is abhorrent and Twitter should be prosecuted for allowing it.
Her Harry Potter books mean the world to me. They have brought me so so much comfort over the years and I will forever be grateful to be part of a generation who grew up with HP.
Hope she reads this!

HollowTalk · 05/04/2022 09:54

She's a heroine. She steps in front of others who are going to get the full slam and she takes it for herself. I think she is amazing.

LeftFootForward · 05/04/2022 09:55

I think she is a truly amazing woman and I admire her greatly not only for the way she has and continues to stand up for sex based rights but also because of all her charitable work/donations.

She is an inspiration.
