Yes, it’s the Mail. No, I’m not apologising. This is fantastic!

"Feminism is intersectional or it is meaningless" is very much a slogan.

Try addressing the point.

VestofAbsurdity · 01/04/2022 15:54

If the length, depth and breadth of your thinking is that all Tories and evil and the Daily Mail and GB News are bad so no-one must read them or listen to them then you are the problem.

Purity spirals are a whisker away from totalitarianism, you can be cool with that, I am not.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/04/2022 15:57

suit yourself. i want to win

We have to win. It's as simple as that. Look at the amount of bad faith propaganda ranged against us.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/04/2022 15:58

#RespectMySex is trending on Twitter but check out the editorialised text they've put against it. So dishonest, happens every time there's a GC-related hashtag trending, the bastards

Case in point.

ResisterRex · 01/04/2022 16:00

I posted this upthread but will repost. All has not been well at the Graun for quite some time now:

corruptionuncovered.wordpress.com/2015/07/03/michael-gillard-on-bent-cops-the-untouchables-investigative-journalism-and-the-guardian-2001-exposing-the-link-to-stephen-lawrence-and-daniel-morgan-murders/

Rusbridger also named here in this story:

‘They tried to convince me not to complain’.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/1dcfc446-b12c-11ec-8b8c-0207c0fd6104?shareToken=b90f179c2c486e350e2c3570ac42af7dd_

Now updated as the day has gone on:

Minister demands action at Oxford college that silenced rape accuser.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/06992630-b129-11ec-8b8c-0207c0fd6104?shareToken=9850e322b24a492294679402afca588cc_

"The woman made a legal complaint accusing Rusbridger of mishandling the case by “trying desperately to convince her not to complain”. She alleged that Rusbridger’s “insistent querying” at a meeting where she requested a college investigation into the alleged rape caused her to break down in tears.

Rusbridger, 68, who stepped down last year, denied that there was a gagging order and said that when he was principal the college had responded to the woman’s complaint with an “18-page legal document which firmly disputed, denied or rebutted virtually all of the claims” and “detailed the extensive measures taken to protect and support the woman including her physical security and psychological wellbeing”.

He said that at a meeting he had questioned what the woman had hoped that a college inquiry would achieve after a police investigation had ended with no charges being brought."

Maybe give the rose-tinted specs a break for a day.

And I don't get that reporting in the Daily Mail is preaching to the choir. It isn't. If it was, it wouldn't be happening.

The vast majority of people in this country don't know it's happening. And that includes Tories.

The goal is to get everyone in the country to understand what's going on.

And doesn't the Daily Mail have the largest circulation of any paper?

How are you going to reach everyone, if you leave most people?

MTCoffeePot · 01/04/2022 16:05

Yes, I saw that - Twitter is thoroughly dishonest on this subject. I went to have a look at the tweets - I had to scroll down quite far through the tweets to find anything unsupportive and there were even users pointing out the inaccuracy of Twitter's editorial comment.
ResisterRex · 01/04/2022 16:06

How are you going to reach everyone, if you leave most people?

This is exactly what that Denton's document says NOT to do. No wonder publicity via the Mail is so unwelcome.

VestofAbsurdity · 01/04/2022 16:08

And doesn't the Daily Mail have the largest circulation of any paper?

It does and I believe the online version has (according to them) 225 million unique monthly visitors.

BenCooperisaGod · 01/04/2022 16:11

I do not agree with much of the editorial content in the Mail, but this high handed dismissal of the Mail and similar papers is why the london liberal elite were so blind sided by Brexit. Stuck in twitter fuelled echo chambers, refusing to recognise that there are other people with different points of view, and that these views were valid, and in the majority. It is not just the newspaper they dismissed, but all the readers of those newspapers, and this made them justifiably very angry. People have different, the left does not have a monopoly on being right or righteous.

And, i too want to fucking win.

Datun · 01/04/2022 16:15

Women have performed a bloody miracle getting this issue into the public domain at all.

Social media, all the left wing papers, left-wing outlets, the BBC, every political party - they've all thrown women under the bus.

So fucked off with people wagging their fingers at women for talking on the very few platforms who let them.

You'd think, wouldn't you, that someone like Karen white, who raped a woman so badly she cannot have children, who said yes I'm a paedophile and if you put me near children I will rape them, and who had a string of rapes behind him would be on the front page of every newspaper in the land when he was sent to female prison.

And when was that ? Four years ago.

No-one gave a shiny shit. It's taken women years and years to get this issue on the front page of a fucking newspaper.

So no, I'm not about to start turning my back on them, for fuck's sake, because they had no choice.

Abitofalark · 01/04/2022 16:18

That's the way ideology works: even when the Mail is right and the Guardian is wrong, the Mail is the wrong one.

The Mail has always had female columnists, and content for women, now with a separate section called Femail. Sarah Vine has been noticeably outspoken on the rights of women vs gender identitarianism over the past few years, which I am delighted about.

The paper does change according to who's the editor, among other things. The previous editor, following Dacre, was a former editor of the Evening Standard, which itself was lefty under the editorship of George Osborne, former Chancellor, and owner Lebvedev, also owner of the lefty i, formerly Independent which, turned from centre to lefty at some point.

I cringe at the twee apologies for posting something from the Mail. Hate it, by all means, but if you are going to read it and quote from it, you don't need to drape a delicate doily over the fact that you chose to do so.

Grin at delicate doily. The apologies for quoting or linking to the Mail are pathetic.

Brilliant post. I love it when Datun, who normally has the patience of a saint, gets angry as she totally cuts through all the waffle WineThanks

BenCooperisaGod · 01/04/2022 16:31

And what fucking media should they be using then? Semaphore? Smoke signals? We cant even use embroidery or haberdashery, as they have been labelled transphobic already. So, enough with the finger wagging already and wade in behind them so next time they might have a choice of paper.

Datun · 01/04/2022 16:31

Also, I'd like to point out exactly how many left wing women come on here and say they knew nothing about this until they came onto FWR.

Nothing.

Some of them said they were looking for answers because they were curious about, say, the J. K. Rowling issue, or the Tavistock, and didn't find them elsewhere.

How many women have said how relieved they were to find this board?

Because guess what. The places that they would normally look to for information about women's rights were silent.

Oh yes. Arrested for stickering. Threatened with court for hanging ribbons.

This.

I get what PPs are saying, I really dislike the DM, some of the articles are laughably shite. But women have worked their absolute arses off to heave this issue into the public domain. Its taken years of work, against so many odds, online abuse, no one giving a shit, no one listening. And now we are finally on the cusp of achievement of getting the general public to understand the issues for women's rights and for children as well. Are women now to just throw all that away because the left wing news outlets don't care about women and children?

Datun · 01/04/2022 16:40

Honestly.

Does my bloody head in.

Smacked in the face at speakers corner, threatened with a bomb, expelled from political parties, sent rape threats, death threats, arrested, had the police sicked on them, fired, targeted, harassed, and frightened.

But if they talk to the bloody Daily Mail?

Shrieks of pass me the smelling salts, and where is my fainting couch.

Fuck off.

Yes to this, you know things are reaching critical mass when the unfailingly polite and patient Datun starts swearing.

Notable also that the poster from here who had the horrendous experience in the Rape Crisis Centre had her story published by the MoS. Do those purity spirallers think this story should not have seen the light of day? Is her story and the awful treatment of her it exposed somehow made less worthy because of where it was published?
