What does one say to this argument? I’m instinctively sceptical but I don’t know if I’m right to be.

@CatherinaJTV were you born with a vagina?

CatherinaJTV · 27/03/2022 17:10

@BernardBlackMissesLangCleg

Which characteristics do you share with "natal" female criminals? That discussion is not going to get us anywhere.

a female body

what with being a woman, and them also being women

what characteristics do I share with the charmers I mentioned @CatherinaJTV ?

come on. you think I should put up with men making me uncomfortable in the loos for this. i'm assuming you've got a cracking answer

I don't equate trans women with criminals and most people sharing a loo with me (like, in their own cubicle, mind) are not criminals. This is a dead end.
DomesticatedZombie · 27/03/2022 17:10

Catherina, thank you. I do appreciate it.

CatherinaJTV · 27/03/2022 17:10

I was indeed. See, this is where "cis" would come in helpful for precision of discussion, but here we are.

Catherina is as female as I am. Just because we have polar opposite views on this issue, doesn't mean she is not telling the truth here.

Enough4me · 27/03/2022 17:13

Cis is offensive. Women are women.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 27/03/2022 17:13

you think Andrea Long Chu is a criminal? I agree his prose is pretty bad, but a criminal conviction seems to be going a bit far

No, he is a man who you (and he) would say is a woman

I'm simply asking you what characteristics he and I share that make us both women?

It's not a dead end - you want me to give up my rights to privacy dignity and safety for this - you must surely have a good explanation @CatherinaJTV ?

twelly · 27/03/2022 17:14

I think the policing of toilets and changing rooms is part of the issue. In my view the rules should be very clear - you can only use the facilities that matches your birth sex. I don't believe there is a "half-way" compromise in some cases (other than for children.) Males or females should be allowed to use the faculties that do not match biological birth sex. Once it is clear it is much easier then to say someone has followed the rules. I think in this case we have to have clarity - I do feel that many people are waking up to this issue are - the problem is that it has almost crept up on the public at large - the pressure groups have been at work and the vast amount of people were to aware what was happening - I was not aware how things had been moving towards this agenda and I think I was like many people who now feel we have let pressure groups get their own way and these "rights" need to be taken back.

Clymene · 27/03/2022 17:14

Clothes, yes @KimikosNightmare. Lipstick? Hair? Never.

And no one has ever asked me to pass them a paper towel. Nor have I ever heard it happen.

DomesticatedZombie · 27/03/2022 17:14

It does happen. It might not happen to the regular posters on FWR but just because it's never happened to you (general you) doesn't mean it never happens.

How very dare you Kimiko! Are you calling me a frump?! Grin

oakleaffy · 27/03/2022 17:15

@Zerogravity

1) trans used to mean transexuals and there were very few so most people would not encounter them. Nowadays it is clear that there are a lot of chancers who just like to frighten women by insisting they're women too. 2) just because they did, doesn't mean women were happy about it. We weren't consulted and we are now saying no.
This with bells 🔔 on. I DO notice. A full on non female was in the women’s loos in a City library and this person startled a couple of women.

We don’t want men in women only spaces.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 27/03/2022 17:15

I give compliments to, and get compliments from, strangers about what I'm wearing and what they are wearing. This can and does happen in the street or standing in a queue, in shops and even the ladies loo.

It's more understandable that compliments are exchanged in a public space with ready egress and when I wasn't handling money or conducting a transaction. I would be surprised if these exchanges were that frequent in the "ladies loo" and with strangers. I would be especially wary if it were a time of day and venue when I might be uncertain about the sobriety of strangers or if it were the sort of place where there are warnings about distraction thefts or pickpockets.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 27/03/2022 17:17

that's a lovely, erm, apron you're wearing @DomesticatedZombie, can I ask where you got it from?

there? happy now?

LabMix · 27/03/2022 17:17

@CatherinaJTV god help us all if women (Hmm) like you are ushering men into female only spaces. i hope you receive the validation from men you so clearly are desperate for

in the past I would assume they didnt have a dick and thus didnt care tbh.

but now we know they can claim to be us and entire our spaces with a full lunchbox thats an entirely different kettle of jizz now isnt it.

only men can rape.

Somanysocks · 27/03/2022 17:19

It's showing my age but I now have a picture in my head of Dick Emery, where 'she' walks off with a little trip.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 27/03/2022 17:19

no, no, we haven't got to 'but what about some women who look a bit like men' yet

you're still going to tell me why me and Jane Fae are both women and I should be super relaxed about sharing a hospital ward with Jane

come on

CatherinaJTV · 27/03/2022 17:21

I have no idea who all these people are you are mentioning. I will not discuss their rights in relation to some criminals.

100% cool with transmen in the ladies, yep, no problem with transmen in any female space/role at all.
