It's strange to claim that there's not some concern about money going into newly formed anti-trans orgs, when they're boasting about having spent £2 million on spurious court cases and people like Kate Scotow have explicitly stated that they have been approached by religious right orgs to take over their cases (to her credit she stated she told them where to go).

ADF and the like have been funding anti-LGBT and anti-women legislation for many years. Some actual feminists such as Jean Hachet have been warning about sitting with the religious right for years

Is sympathising with someone for the abuse they get online the same as being "very friendly with"? Because there's a whole load of dodginess that the TRAs are aligning themselves with if so.

She sympathised, in four words, with Farrow for receiving misogynistic abuse. It's telling that so many activists were more ready to abuse Farrow for being a woman than for her far right views.

Are we really going down this route of guilt by association? Do we need to start listing all the links that a lot of trans activists have to less than salubrous activities. Are all transgender people and activists to be tarred by the activities of people Gordon Pike, who helped formulate the policy which allows male prisoners into the Scottish prison female estate?
Surely nobody would be stupid enough to say that JKR is a despot like Putin or a lackey of the fundamentalist right, nor would anybody be so shallow to accuse the average trans person of behaving in less than moral ways, merely because their cause has been hijacked by evil people?

Isn't what Putin has done here just an extension of the Russian troll farms? Russia have their eye on everything in the West, including the hottest social topics and the ones that cause the most division. They then deploy stuff online related to those topics (eg. US Election etc)

Or is it because he knows that those key words 'JK Rowling' from him, would immediately cause a frenzy, which it has? And the bloody thickos have walked right into it!

Do men like Owen Jones and James Felton really think that feminists are going to think 'shit, Putin said JRK's name, I am immediately going to change my mind on all these things: puberty blockers for any child that wants them! Any male who fancies it is welcome in female spaces! Male rapists in female prisons! Males in female sports! Males in female only refuges! Let's not bother trying to keep single sex spaces, it's only women anyway, who cares!'

She expressed sympathy for a woman who has suffered pretty horrendous online abuse from a number of males, including one who had a conviction for attacking a man with a golf club, and then made 'jokes' towards her about playing golf.

I disagree with Caroline Farrow on most issues but that doesn't mean I can't think that the way she has been treated is bad.

This sort of thing is really basic human social interaction, you do realise that don't you?

Caroline Farrow bought me a glass of wine at an event once, I knew who she was, I agree with her on this issue but not on many others. I said thank you, and the world carried on turning. I am pro choice and an agnostic atheist. I have not changed my mind on the things I disagree with her on, I just agree with her on the fundamental existential points of this one.

People cannot change sex. Women are female. Water is wet, up is not down. We might differ on details but there it is.
