Twitter is awash with blue ticks doing lots of “JKR is on a level with putin” and sky news have helpfully Hmm amplified it

Maybe the bigots in here will finally start to realise what side of history they are on when even Putin agrees with them….

Loving the fact that someone literally razzed the thread with that gem. Or jizzed. Or whatever.

Probably came straight from twitter all excited to get one over the MN crowd with it. Not realising they really do not see the absurdity of that statement.

Imagine thinking you are the height of cleverness telling posters, the majority women, off with that.

I think we've dealt with the absurd nonsense here in a way that it's very hard to do on Twitter.

ScreamingMeMe · 28/03/2022 08:57

@Ereshkigalangcleg

Possibly by people with large followings.
Nah it doesn't add up. Even celebrities don't usually get 90k+ likes. And why would large account retweet something like that?
Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/03/2022 08:59

I've no idea. But I've seen equally batshit posts from nonentities get similarly large numbers of likes. If you are saying that it might be Twitter manipulation, I think that's entirely possible.

@ScreamingMeMe

I noticed something weird with this tweet from a transwoman claiming to have a period. They have 2650 followers, but over 90k likes on this tweet. Someone is obviously boosting it, but who and why?
My suspicion is that they bought the likes on it. Guessing the $/female attention ratio on this is very high compared with other methods of purchasing.

Yes I'm thinking bots or paid-for likes. Why is another question!

It's very strange to me that TRAs cannot see the following:

  1. Far from amplifying her message, Putin has done JKR no favours with his comments
  2. They are the ones amplifying Putin's message.

Sometimes it seems that a lot TRAs don't understand that people don't believe what they say 100% of the time - that's why so many of them are convinced they "pass." But you''d think even such painfully naive people might understand the concept that a bloodthirsty dictator could be scheming and manipulative.

Of course, some of them are very well acquainted with the fact that people don't always believe what they say. They've just decided that amplifying Putin's message is a small price to pay for scoring points against a political enemy. Not much to be said about that contingent, at least not within guidelines. Irredeemable human beings.

I think this is the key point. Many of these people have no motivation other than attention seeking and personal interest. They don't care if it's true, just that some people believe it.

It stokes outrage and brings people together on social media to have a good rage.
