Are the wife and children really fine?

DancingBarefootOnIce · 22/03/2022 08:03

A man I used to be close friends with recently came out as a transwoman on Facebook. I was a bit surprised as when I knew them in their 20s they were just a typical man. They’re now mid 30s and married to a woman with three children.

Anyway in their post the second sentence was something along the lines of “Don’t worry my wife and children are fine”. I’ve seen it before in stories like this or when someone comes out as gay.
It’s almost like there’s going to be an accusation of homophobia or transphobia if they’re not alright with it. It just doesn’t feel right. If my partner or father came out with something like that it would change so many things in thinking about past relationships etc.

Ah, but @AngelinaFibres we have already been told that is not true.

OK, the article linked to said something entirely different - it was about how difficult it is to distinguish sex of a skeleton when the origins are hitherto unknown. But hey! WhHo are we, weak and feeble wimmin to argue?!

Annette32123 · 22/03/2022 20:02

@TeaKlaxon

If you’re not trans then you’re cis. Sorry about it.

Arguing otherwise is about as tiresome as straight people arguing there shouldn’t be a word to describe people not being gay or bi.

Well you can be homosexual or heterosexual.

You can be a man or a woman.

Within the category of man you can be a man or a transwomen.

Within the category of woman you can be a woman or a transman.

No more is needed. Women who do not identify as women are called transmen. There doesn’t need to be another word for them because the transmen don’t want to be called women. Men who do not identify as men are called transwomen. There doesn’t need to be another word for them because the transwomen don’t want to be called men. Again, no other word is needed. It’s perfectly clear to all.

A man is born with a cock.
If he retains that cock he is a man
If he has his cock snipped off, he is a man sans cock
If he is pumped full of hormones, he is a man pumped full of hormones.

That's it really.

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 20:09

Trans women are women.

Then why do they need the prefix?

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 20:11

I love how, after flailing around like mad all day and having her Newspeak and cognitive dissonance completely torn asunder, Tea has finally just gone to "a horse is an umbrella" like that just settles it.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. I am Angelina Jolie.

TheWeeDonkey · 22/03/2022 20:11

@SoftDay

ElaineFuchs, I honestly can't fiure out whether you are:
  • a true genderist zealot whose every post reveals the lunacy and authoiritarian absolutism of your ideology;
  • a gender critical plant whose every post seeks to highlight the lunacy and authoritarian absolutism of this ideology; or
  • a person who knows very well that he or she is spouting utter bilge but is revelling in the vicious misogny and homophobia that are intrinsic to this lunatic, authoritarian and absolutist ideology.

Either way, I've started to find your posts actually amusing now. On account of the lunacy, authoritarianism and absolutism being laid so bare. Naked as an ash tree in the moon of May it is.

Just one piece of advice though to you and all your fellow activists: lay off the accusations of various "isms" against people for their sexual preferences (and, indeed, orientations). Guess what - equality legislation and principles do not apply to the ride. Everybody reading this should note the attempts to police and break down people's boundaries around their bodies and sexual availability. It is a persistent and prevalent theme of certain ideologies currently being pushed in society.

My guess is an AGP male who threw a grenade in his family's life and spends every waking minute justifying it.

Just, ya know. Reading between the lines.

I am going to wake up tomorrow and declare I am not disabled. I wonder if it'll work? 🤔

Stop trying to police the words those of us who are not transgender use about ourselves!

You go first

Whyisitmadness22 · 22/03/2022 20:31

Why do transwomen rarely dress like regular woman? Why do they always have to be in some tarty garish dress drawing attention to themselves? This is a serious question. This is not how your average woman born woman dresses. yet they want to live like a woman?

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 20:33

Tea, if you're still reading (and we all know you are), can you please explain why you are so utterly opposed to acknowledging that transwomen are something different to women, in a way that matters?

Why do you think that transwomen must be able to go their entire lives never ever having to confront the reality that they are not female sexed?

Why do you think that women must give up their sporting opportunities and medals (and risk having their bones broken in the process, like Tammika Brents), their literary prizes, their single sex changing spaces (some women absolutely need these for cultural reasons or due to trauma), their allocated places within businesses or STEM, so that transwomen never ever have to acknowledge that they aren't female?

Do you think that male people taking spaces and opportunities from female people, and having opportunities to break their bones is progressive?

AngelinaFibres · 22/03/2022 20:57

I spend a lot of time in jeans and tops but I am a woman so I look completely like a woman in those clothes. Presumably they can't wear that because they would look like what they are....a man in jeans and a top. Couple that with walking like a bloke and the game is lost. So they go for the skirt and blazer combo, or the awful, awful dress because they think they will pass as an actual woman. Nope. Not a cat in hells chance
AlisonDonut · 22/03/2022 20:58

Is this where 'non-binary' comes from?

Not trans
Not CIS (hell no, too boring for special people)
So I must be 'non-binary'...hurrah for me.

AngelinaFibres · 22/03/2022 21:02

transwomen are women

And orange juice in a coke can is coke. Oh fuck, it isn't though. Its still orange juice. Who would have thought.

Nope. Just a woman.
TeaKlaxon · 22/03/2022 21:22

@DrSbaitso

Trans women are women.

Then why do they need the prefix?

In most situations they don’t.

A bit like how disabled women aren’t any less women just because sometimes they need to use the ‘disabled’ adjective in some contexts.

TeaKlaxon · 22/03/2022 21:23

People aren’t soft drinks.
AllThingsServeTheBeam · 22/03/2022 21:24

@TeaKlaxon and men aren't women.

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 21:25

A bit like how disabled women aren’t any less women just because sometimes they need to use the ‘disabled’ adjective in some contexts.

You are trying to conflate disability with natal sex now?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 22/03/2022 21:26

I'm disabled. I just say "I'm disabled". Never needed to add the woman bit. Being disabled has nothing to do with this argument at all.

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 21:27

This is actually amazing. Male people are women because disabled women are women. What are you smoking, Tea? And why aren't you sharing?

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 21:34

I'm going to have a go.

Cats are guitars because guitars with missing strings are guitars. Dogs are bandsaws because bandsaws with blunted blades are bandsaws. I am the Queen because the Queen without her crown is the Queen.

I can see why you like it here, Tea.

AngelinaFibres · 22/03/2022 21:35

*people aren't soft drinks.

And men aren't women. Never have been, never will be Never, ever

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 21:38

So, I've seen these people exploit people with DSDs all the time to argue that males are females. Don't think I've seen them attempt to hijack disability before, though.

DrSbaitso · 22/03/2022 21:41

In most situations they don’t.

Ok. So in what situations might they need the prefix? And why?
