So many eye opening things on this thread, particularly:

-Men are baffled when a woman stands her ground, but are even more baffled by feminine, glamourous, 'beautiful' women who stand their ground and say 'no, I'm not having this'. It's so bizarre to watch! I agree that part of people's 'interest' in KJ is that to look at she is gender conforming, but her behaviour (ie. Steadfast in her views, no 'lady doubt', doesn't give a shit, will not budge) is very gender non-conforming. People, particularly men, find it difficult to get their head around that.

• Men think that women are so inferior that any man who wants to be a woman must really believe that they are one. Otherwise why would they degrade themselves in such a way?

For me, one of the most interesting parts about all this is the massive pushback that James Max is getting. From every quarter.

It's almost as though, having heard the words "men can't be women" and "no men in women's spaces" spoken out loud on the radio and repeated on the internet people (mainly women, I think) have jumped on a massive wave of courage to say they agree. And the more women see other women saying what they think the bigger the wave gets.

I have children under 35, and they do not subscribe to it whatsoever.

And that's not just because of me. I have asked them about them and their friends.

They say that there is a certain cohort who do subscribe, but its not representative.

They say people keep quiet so they're not targeted.

Funnily enough, almost the exact same process as those in the over 35 group.

Unless there is genuinely an attitude that claims the under 35s don't understand biology.

The only people that should be having a say in this debate is women. What ever age they are. And if some women object to having their sex based protections removed then that's the end of it. No one gets to remove the safeguards and protections of others, just because they might feel ok with it. And misogynistic, deeply unpleasant hard of thinking men like James Max certainly doesnt get a say in it. And he doesn't get to speak for women.

Is James gay? I think a truth has become clear regardless. That there are many men who do not like women having rights and safeguards. And too many female allies that are willing to give them up and sucker up to these males, who really do not give a shit about them.

That isn't really an entirely accurate description of Blanchard's research on AGP, if people are going to use the categories defined by him, use them, but he doesn't say that men with AGP are all walking around dressed as women to get a sexual thrill.

He says that men with autogynephilia have a 'target location error', where they are in sexual thrall to the idea of themselves as a woman. AGP is a paraphilia. Well documented, and talked about by men who have it from one end of the Internet to the other.

Of course, Ray Blanchard is no feminist quite clearly has a certain amount of sympathy for men with AGP.

I, on the other hand, reserve my sympathy for their wives and families whose harrowing experiences can be read on Trans Widows Voices and Children of Transitioners.

What does sympathy have to do with anything, or whether Blanchard is a feminist? I would hope that he's not base his observations around the causes of any psychological state on whether they seemed to be in line with any particular ideological position. If people here want to make the claim that they are basing their views on science rather than ideology, as opposed to the TRAs, then ideology shouldn't be a constraint. If his categories are relevant, than why not say what he actually said? But you implied that transition for people with AGP is so they can be sexually aroused when they are out in public as a woman, and that's not at all what Blanchard says is happening.

The claim was that KJ did likes DH, and presumably any one else in a similar position, for being "a self-confessed AGP." Yes, it's classed as a paraphilia, but that's not a moral choice, any more than someone having another identity or similar disorder. It's like saying you have a problem with someone because they have publicly admitted to having BPD. I can tell you, having a close family member with BPD is a heck of a lot easier if they have the self-awareness to confess it.

You don't actually have to think all people affected by any kind of disorder are shit or not worth listening to in order have sympathy for their spouses and kids, or even to listen to their Voices.
