He's one of a number of men who enjoy having a debate regardless of what's at stake for the person they're interviewing. The other person's distress is just good entertainment for them. They might even enjoy seeing women distressed, enjoy talking down to them as if they were primary school children and enjoy talking over them, and I've encountered his type before.
Men like him have been waiting for this moment for years - the time where they get to tell women how incredibly horrible and exclusionary they are (remarkably similar to incel accusations , all because they resent women sticking up for themselves and asserting their rights. They've never got over the fact that women ventured outside the kitchen and are determined to make this crucial moment for women's rights hurt as much as possible. They're loving the fact that outspoken women are outcasted whilst men like James get to score points with the left. It is a time of sweet revenge for them.
He's a very clear example of this, and it's incredibly revealing that he brings up the topic of single-sex spaces as if it's on par with women's single sex spaces.
James smugly thinks he has the upper hand over the simple women folk who don't seem to quite understand what's what, yet makes an absolute tool of himself. I'm glad this interview was recorded for everyone to see.
Honestly, I laughed out aloud at several points during it.
