So says this article anyway

"Acting as an accelerator, the Internet maternity forum Mumsnet has grown over the years to become a hub for British transphobia. Many stay-at-home mothers have become convinced there of the danger that “transgender ideology” poses to their children."

Funny, I could've sworn I went to work yesterday, must have dreamed it Hmm

Masdintle · 15/12/2021 10:52

The Times is tabloid shaped, though Grin

Franca123 · 15/12/2021 10:56

Isn't the guardian also in that compact tabloid shape?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 15/12/2021 10:58

What is a “mother”, actually? Can they define what that is?

Keke94LND · 15/12/2021 10:59

It's funny cause I have a job and I'm also not a mum hahaha, not middle aged either, so I don't fit the stereotype of a supposed 'transphobe' or 'Karen'

Bellendejour · 15/12/2021 11:01

Got to ‘puberty blockers are safe’ and had to stop reading before I threw my phone across the room. PUBERTY BLOCKERS ARE NOT SAFE!!!!!! Even this transition-friendly outline from the Mayo clinic points out that we don’t know what the long term effects are and they may impact on growth, bone growth and density and future fertility.

www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gender-dysphoria/in-depth/pubertal-blockers/art-20459075

WHY THE FUCK ARE PUBLICATIONS PRINTING THESE LIES?!?!?!?

Christ I’m so fucked off with this all.

Chersfrozenface · 15/12/2021 11:04

The other bit of implied misogyny we can read into this is that stay at home mothers sponge off men.

It really is a misogynist full house.

Franca123 · 15/12/2021 11:05

Do you get the impression that some of these TRAs had really troubled relationships with their own mothers and now they're taking that out on all mothers and all women? Or am I overthinking it? I quite like my mum and think she's lovely. I don't understand people disliking mothers...... all the mum's I know are lovely.......

BuffysBigSister · 15/12/2021 11:05

I'm not even a mum.....will I be banned??

Honestly, if they spent 5 minutes on here (not just on this part of mumsnet) they would be shocked at the depth of knowledge and experience on a huge range of topics - from law to education to Strictly and everything in between

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/12/2021 11:05

Pure DARVO at work.

Still, it's really encouraged me in my aspirations to be a writer. I'd previously assumed that you should know at least something about your subject matter before you try to speak authoritatively on it, but this piece has helped me to open up my tiny little mind and thoroughly disabused me of that ridiculous notion.

Hugely encouraged, I'm starting work this very afternoon on my exciting new piece about my experiences growing up as an Albanian royal goatherd in the 1740s - don't miss it if you want to learn about history from those who actually lived it!

NynaeveSedai · 15/12/2021 11:08

They like to claim we are all SAHMs as it suits their narrative that we have nothing of importance to add to the debate, we are all ignorant, boring, irrelevant, mumsy, out of date etc (nb not my views of SAHMs but theirs)
They don't like to think that we are lawyers, judges, doctors, teachers, nurses, politicians, policy makers, civil servants, CEOs and all kinds of other positions that have power over social change.
Again, not saying anything negative about SAHMs myself of course.

Justme56 · 15/12/2021 11:13

Most prominent British transphobes also identify with the Labour Party????

WarOnWoman · 15/12/2021 11:15

Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Who are Left Voice anyway.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/12/2021 11:15

I've asked my husband and he says I'm allowed to have my own political opinions on things despite being a SAHM Grin

(In fact, he agrees with us. Especially about Sport. )

KittenKong · 15/12/2021 11:16

Really? I must have imagined working in the City, doing my post grads and professional qualifications, managing teams and... am I dreaming my boss?

This would explain a lot. Living in a fantasy world must be so wonderful.

Why do they hate their moms so much?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 15/12/2021 11:19

Very old fashioned sexism from the lefties there.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/12/2021 11:22

How many more of these unoriginal "waah I hate you mummy" articles are there going to be? Grin

LimpLettice · 15/12/2021 11:25

I actually am a SAHP now after years of being a WOHP in a senior position. Doesn't change how I feel about reality though.

Same old mix of old fashioned misogyny, hating their mummy's and getting cross with the women who refuse to stop safeguarding our and all children no matter what they throw at us. You'd think they would stop for a minute and think about how it looks being so desperate to chisel away the main safeguard most kids have.

MonsignorMirth · 15/12/2021 11:26

"Maternity forum" lmao
"Stay at home mothers" (not that there is anything wrong with realising the cost of not having a parent doing childcare) lmao

PleasantBirthday · 15/12/2021 11:27

It's funny how they think we export our brains with babies.

KittenKong · 15/12/2021 11:32

The babies didn’t seem to get the brain. Wonder where it went, wobble wibble, must get the tea on and the laundry out of the drier...

StonewalledNameChange · 15/12/2021 11:33

Even back when I didn't really find that my views on trans acceptance and women's rights aligned with the consensus-ish on FWR, I saw these rants about 'MN transphobia' as misogyny. Get back in your lane, mothers!

PronounssheRa · 15/12/2021 11:33

Maternity forum, what now?

I don't think the author understands what MN is. Actually I don't think the author understands much.

RoyalCorgi · 15/12/2021 11:35

We've discussed before the ubiquity of Schrodinger's Mumsnetter - simultaneously a feather-brained middle-class mum looking after her precious baby and being supported by her husband and an evil witch hell bent on the genocide of vulnerable trans people.

Anything, anything at all rather than engage with the arguments.

Crouton19 · 15/12/2021 11:36

Funny how these people say they identify as women but not the women who take on the majority of the childcare and household side of things. Want to be a woman and also sit around in their pants all day on the internet with no responsibilities. Hmm…

(For the record, I also don’t have children.)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/12/2021 11:39

Most of them don't identify as anything we would recognise as "women".
